PEC responded to the email from my original Edit below. Noted that this is within manufacturing tolerances. So, I guess it is what it is and I will return and purchase something else.

First off the mounting holes were obviously drilled by a 6 year old with how much they are off. Secondly, the body is squeezed down by the retaining fastener making it seem like they use this same body for different sets and just squeeze it down to fit. To me, if I wanted lack of attention to detail that bad, I would just buy Chinesium 💩. Am I being overly critical? They just arrived from Amazon and I am really close to returning them.

I recently purchased one of your feeler gauge sets through Amazon. When it arrived, I immediately noticed that the individual leaves are significantly misaligned because the pivot holes appear to have been drilled in slightly different locations on each blade.
I occasionally need to measure very shallow areas, and the amount of misalignment makes that more difficult.
My question is simply this: Is what I’m seeing within PEC’s normal manufacturing tolerances, or is it possible that I received a counterfeit product through Amazon?
I’m not looking to complain—I just need to know the best course of action. If this is not representative of your quality standards, I’ll return this set and purchase another one directly from PEC. If, however, this is considered acceptable within your manufacturing tolerances, I’ll simply return it and purchase a different brand that better suits my needs.

Anyone know how to remove this hinge. Hex key won’t fit. Should I just try to hammer them off or is there a specific tool I can use for these screws??

Recently, I have been looking to get into making my own challenge coins/ fantasy coins with a hammer coin press. I looked on Etsy and found someone who makes these devices, and dies (this Etsy account is tied to sozdat). He was very friendly, however I noticed that he was based in Europe. When I asked about the shipping process and tariffs associated with the product his answers were less than forth coming. My question is: If you bought for sozdat did you run into any issues with tariffs and custom duties when buying there products? Also were you satisfied with the product you bought? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I don't want to start a war, but I am thinking about settling into a tool brand ecosystem.

I mainly want a mid or high torque, drill, electric ratchet.

I want to work on my car mostly. I want something that can reliably take off lug nuts, undo brake hardware, work underneath the hood.

I think I would use my kit up to four to five times a year.

I am sensitive to price. I don't want to spring for something very expensive. I also don't want something to crap out with moderate use.

There are just so many options that it is daunting and paralyzing. I would appreciate some advice.

Girly needs some help 😭😭

So I have a horse trailer that I’m trying to paint. I used phosphoric acid on it to cancel out the rust, that’s the first photo. I then tried to paint it, but the metal was way too uneven and it looked terrible. I decided to sandblast it, but I went through $190 worth of media, but the second photo is all the surface area that did. I tried then using a wire brush on a drill and it barely did anything. What tool(s) would you recommend using? If I finished with the sandblasting I’d go through 1k of media or more & then it would’ve been worth just paying someone else to do it. I don’t have a shop floor, I’m doing it outside, or I’d just sweep up the old media and use it again.

Please no rude comments. I’m just a girl trying to fix up her horse trailer a little & have been quoted $3500 to paint it & I can’t pay that.

As title says, I’ve recently become responsible for a pub, after the previous guy left. When he left he took literally every tool / piece of equipment that wasn’t nailed down / owned by the company itself.

What are some mid-range tools that I should pick up? I can’t really foresee much use for tools like a hammer, chisel etc but wrench sets, pliers etc absolutely!

I have a preference for hand tools but I am open to suggestions. I know I will need a spanner set, a screwdriver set and some pliers but I have no idea where to start, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Tools are likely to only see use 3-4 times a month, for as long as we remain open (hopefully forever haha).

I’m trying to find some abrasion resistant gloves that can handle Blower Truck hoses which is really hard to find since there doesn’t seem to be too much info on proper PPE or glove ratings for them. I do however know that ANSI level 4 abrasion gloves get torn/holes in them within 30 minutes or less of use. Basically what I’m looking for is something that far exceeds the limits of the ANSI level 6 abrasion as I have a pair of gloves for that and they will most likely be destroyed in a few days/weeks. Here’s a list of what usually these gloves would go through, mulch of varying sizes and sharpness blasting through a hose about 4-5” in diameter usually hitting the middle and ring finger as a means of dispersing the mulch evenly.

I am currently kiln drying some hickory wood that I'll be turning into flooring for my dining room/living room. I have a decent circular saw but I'm wondering if I should buy a dedicated track saw for this project, and any future ones.

Heard all the hype about Woodpeckers for years. “Premium tools,” “buy once cry once,” “don’t knock it until you try it,” etc.

So I tried it.

The tool works. It does exactly what it says it does. No issue there.

But honestly, after shipping/import fees, I’m about $500 CAD into a hand tool and a Systainer, and the whole thing feels kind of underwhelming.

The packaging is basically paper cut-outs. No molded insert, nothing really holding or separating the parts properly. All the assembly hardware was loose in the box and ended up hiding in the little gaps of the packaging.

And the finish on the tool itself? It just doesn’t look like a $500 tool. It looks functional, but not especially refined or finished. I was expecting something that made me go “okay, now I understand the price.” Instead, it felt more like paying extra for the red anodizing and the name.

I’m not against paying premium prices. If the machining, materials, finish, packaging, and little details are all there, fine. But this doesn’t feel that far above plenty of cheaper tools that will do the same job.

Maybe I’m missing the appeal, or maybe this is just one of those brands where you pay a lot for the brand and the niche factor.

I have a piece of hand me down office furniture and am trying to take the top off. The legs and top are held on by what looks like to be these fasteners. The ball in the middle spins. Any idea how to take it apart or what tools to use?
