ONGOING ISSUES - Please read our Group Rules before posting / commenting

We are getting way too many rule violations, resulting in posts / comments being removed and (in some cases) users banned. Before you ever post or comment in r/Shopify please read the group rules (a big THANK YOU to our members who regularly report such posts/comments for rule violations - they help more than you know).

All users must have an account age of 30 days, a minimum of 20 comment karma, and a minimum of 10 post karma (not overall karma). all 3 conditions must be met. Also, your post must be specific to the Shopify platform. Any post that is not Shopify-specific should be posted to other ecom-related groups.

A few quick notes on what you cannot do here (because these are the most commonly violated rules) - most of these should be common sense to veteran reddit users and they are shared with a majority of other such groups -

  • Do not post a store for a review (in any way - this means 'why am I not getting sales?', or 'why such low conversions?' posts). Please use r/ecommerce or r/ReviewMyShopify groups for this

  • No AI or Suspected AI Slop: Obvious or suspected AI content is not welcome here. Violations from lower-karma accounts with little contribution history in this sub may result in a ban. This will be at the sole discretion of the group moderators.

  • Do not promote your app, offer, service, site, perform app research, ask about 'pain points' or anything else related to Shopify services, apps, or development (r/ShopifyDev or r/ShopifyAppDev are good groups for that), even if 'free'.

  • Do not solicit personal contact with a user of this group in any way and for any reason (DM request, sending soliciting DMs, Contact Me, Let's Connect, etc). This includes responding to calls for help by asking for DM (such posts will also be removed). Share all helpful information in the thread so that everyone reading will benefit, and to remove the appearance of self-promotion. This is the fastest guaranteed way to get your account banned from this group.

Other rules certainly apply to the group, but these 3 are seeing many removals and account bans every day. The group is here to help Shopify users. It is not a focus group, nor is it here opportunists to take advantage of those who may be new to the group.

Lastly, remember that the internet gives the cover of anonymity to all users; Many users here are legit and only intend to help, but many others have selfish motives. Never trust a random stranger on the internet, and certainly never give anyone your passwords or financial information for services without thoroughly checking them out first. The sad reality is that scammers abound in groups like this - make every effort to protect yourself.

Moderators are always open to rule suggestions or changes - it is your group, just message us!

Checkout Klarna through Shopify cheaper than directly with Klarna?

I recently found this post saying that it's cheaper to use Klarna through Shopify instead of using Klarna directly. I assume they're talking about merchant fees: Klarna & Shopify Post

Is this true?

Orders What's going on? What's the goal?

A+ if you get it

But also, we keep getting orders in the middle of the night for one single bar of chocolate. It has an address for NYC, but they get returned because they're undeliverable. What's the goal of the scammer? They are under different names, but the product and order window is the same.

Shopify General Discussion Anyone successfully get out of the Shopify Capital/MCA cycle? What worked?

I’m finally getting a clearer picture of my profitability, and a lot of the problem seems to come back to the cost of capital through Shopify.
I’ve been growing consistently, including around 160% year over year, so I tend to pay Shopify Capital off pretty quickly. That sounds good, but because the fee is fixed, paying it back that fast makes it really expensive money. Then another offer comes along, I use it to keep inventory and growth moving, and the cycle repeats.
I’m trying to replace it with a more traditional business loan or line of credit. I’m planning to start with the local credit union I already use personally, and I’ve also seen people mention Chase business lines of credit. I use the Shopify credit card too, which is useful for some things, but carrying a balance is expensive and doesn’t really solve the cash flow problem.
For anyone who has actually gotten out of this cycle, what did you replace Shopify Capital with? Did you qualify mostly based on the business, or did the lender still rely heavily on personal credit or collateral? Did you stop taking Shopify Capital completely, or phase it out over time?
Mostly looking for real experiences from other store owners, especially anything you wish you had done sooner.

Shopify General Discussion How are my competitors able to to sell banned/suspended products?

In the beginning of July, Shopify decided to suspend all vape products on its platform. This wasn’t related to Shopify payments. Vape stores could not use Shopify payments, or PayPal, ever. They basically would identify all vape products and a “suspended by date” message would appear.

I was forced to migrate my store to a different platform. I have checked what my competition has done and they are STILL selling on Shopify. Not only are they still selling on Shopify but they are selling Hemp products which we had to remove back in 2024.

My question is how are they still being able to sell? I tried to figure it out but I’m looking for an actual explanation. I don’t think that Shopify is bad at enforcing, because they are selling products for 2 years now which were banned off the platform.

I won’t post the 2 websites in here, but if you’re interested I’ll send them to whoever.

1 of them is using the powered by MARKETPLACE theme, does that have anything to do with it?

Apps App recommendation needed: chasing unpaid net-30 wholesale invoices is eating my time

Since the B2B rollout I've got 10 wholesale accounts on net 30. Shopify marks orders overdue and can send reminder emails, but that's about it. What I can't do:

1.See total owed per buyer across all their orders

2.Cap how much credit a company can rack up before checkout blocks them

3.Get any warning that a buyer is a late-payer before I extend them terms

The concern that's actually keeping me up: one buyer is sitting on £X of unpaid orders and just placed another one, and Shopify let it sail through. Multiply that across accounts and my cash flow is basically hope.

Anyone found an app that solves this end-to-end? Or are you all just handling it in Xero/QuickBooks/spreadsheets? Curious what the real-world setup looks like before I install something random.

Marketing Stores that wait until October to build their list lose BFCM before it starts

We took a hypothetical US fashion DTC store on Shopify with 100,000 monthly visitors and modeled two email strategies through BFCM. Everything below is a model built on public benchmarks plus our own capture data, not client results, and the assumptions are listed so you can swap in your own numbers.

Strategy one runs a well-built gamified popup from mid-July, converts 9% of the visitors who see it, gives new subscribers a 10% code, warms them with flows, and sends the list a 25% offer during BFCM week. Strategy two runs a basic signup form over the same period, converts 3%, gives the same 10% code, and compensates at BFCM with a 50% offer.

Shared assumptions. 70,000 visitors see the popup monthly after subscriber hiding and frequency caps, AOV is $100, the welcome flow converts 5% of signups before BFCM, 15% of the list churns by late November, and the BFCM campaign converts 3% of the reachable list at 25% off against 5% at 50% off, since deeper offers do pull more redemptions. Repeat purchases and retargeting audiences are ignored, both favor the bigger list, so this is the conservative version of the gap.

Strategy one collects 25,200 emails by BFCM. The welcome flow produces 1,260 first orders at $90 net, which is $113,400 before the sale starts, and the 25% campaign converts 643 of the 21,420 still-reachable addresses at $75 net for another $48,200. Total around $161,600. Strategy two collects 8,400 emails, gets $37,800 from the welcome flow and $17,850 from the 50% offer, and lands around $55,700.

Same traffic, 2.9x revenue gap. Per reachable subscriber during BFCM week the deep discount actually wins, $2.50 against $2.25, because the higher redemption slightly outruns the margin loss. The entire gap comes from list size, which was decided back in July by the capture setup. The discount depth debate that dominates BFCM planning moves the result by cents per subscriber, while the capture rate moves it by a factor of three.

The model has obvious limits. The 5% welcome conversion and the 3% campaign conversion are the assumptions doing the heaviest lifting, and weaker flows narrow the gap. A 9% capture rate is not a given either, in our data it sits between the top 10% and top 3% of ecommerce campaigns, though gamified setups with a working frequency cap reach it regularly. Run the same arithmetic with your own numbers before quoting ours.

If anyone has real cohort data comparing summer-captured and November-captured subscribers through BFCM, that is the part no model replaces.

Shopify General Discussion headless commerce platforms beyond Shopify Plus, Salesforce Commerce, and Adobe Commerce?

trying to figure out what headless platforms exist for a brand at our size beyond the standard Shopify Plus, Salesforce Commerce and Adobe Commerce trio.

So for context, we're a $60M GMV apparel brand with B2B layered on top, currently on Shopify Plus with a custom-built integration for wholesale that the team is starting to call a maintenance tax.

We're not allergic to Plus, we just don't want to invest another year on it if there's a platform built for our shape we've been missing that'll make life easier for us.

So far the names that have come up outside the big 3 are commercetools, SCAYLE, Centra, Spryker, and BigCommerce Enterprise, where commercetools and Spryker we know by reputation, SCAYLE and Centra we've only seen in case studies, and BigCommerce we've ruled out as too close to Plus on the customization ceiling.

Main question is for the brands at north $50M who moved off Plus or Salesforce or Adobe recently, which platforms came up in your research that don't show up in the standard comparisons, and which one held up for fashion-plus-B2B specifically?

Point of Sale Shopify is not syncing data across Google Analytics properly!

My Google tag is set up and my first two purchases from buyers have been recorded, but the third purchase hasn’t been recorded.

I have no clue why because everything looks good and the purchase was done more than 72 hours ago, so I am not sure what to do here has anyone experience this?

Point of Sale Does Shopify include "Buy Now Pay Later" functionality?

Long story short: I have a small online business that sells items in the $80-$300 range. I'm interested in implementing BNPL so that customers can pay in 4 monthly installments. I was considering Klarna and afterpay, but then someone said that Shopify has this built-in.

Does Shopify have a payment processor with built-in BNPL functionality? If so, would I need to use their payment processor for this?

Apps For anyone who's already migrated off Stocky — what does your new tool still not do?

Stocky shuts down for good on Aug 31 and I'm curious how the migrations have actually gone.

For those of you who've already switched — what does your new tool still not do that Stocky did?

I keep seeing the same few things mentioned (min/max replenishment, auto-generated POs, barcode receiving, supplier codes on POs), but I'd rather hear what's actually biting people day to day than what the comparison blogs say.

Also curious: what did you move to, and would you pick it again?

Shopify General Discussion Shopify owners, which expense management software handles supplier FX best?

I Run a Shopify store where suppliers invoice me in CNY, EUR and GBP, and it's turned into a mess of manual conversions and spreadsheet reconciliation every month. I need something that handles card expenses, supplier payments and currency conversion in one place, then syncs cleanly with our accounting software, because right now I'm doing half of that by hand and thats taking up my time.

I'm expanding SOPs next month so this is kinda Urgent & needs to be solved this month. I'm open to one platform that does it all or a stack of tools that work well together, whatever other store owners have actually found reliable. Also how should I go about it?

Meta How to get support from Shopify as a consumer, not a business?

So last week the Shopify app had a promotion advertising Shop Cash as a rebate on purchases. The deal was good, offering $40 in Shop Cash on a $200 purchase - 20% rebate. I scrolled through the list of eligible vendors and hit the button at the bottom that said something analogous to "load more options" (important). I then made a $201 purchase that was delivered today.

I assume that by loading more options, I was being directed away from eligible vendors for the sale, but this was absolutely not made clear at the time and the option to load more stores was presented within the sales marketing page.

I've received no Shop Cash. I purchased shelf-stable goods which I didn't need today, but will use eventually, because the promo made it appealing. But if there is no promo, I may as well return this. Of course, the individual vendor/store is not responsible for Shop running a bait and switch. When I ask for support on the app, I can only interact with AI, and the AI always tells me to approach vendors for refunds, even though the source of the funding and the error is Shopify's and not the innocent vendor's.

How does one actually get customer service from Shopify for Shopify issues as a consumer?

Marketing Email out to specific product purchasers

Hello. I'm looking to use the Flow app so when a specific product is purchased, a couple of weeks later it will automatically send a follow-up email with related products to what the customer purchased. I can't seem to find a trigger related to a specific product purchase.

Is there a way to set this up with the Flow app?

TIA!

Apps Calculator for customer to use?

There are literally thousands of calculators to go through to find what I am looking for. I am selling jump rings and an important peice of information is the aspect ratio. Inside diameter ÷ wire diameter = aspect ratio.

Ideally this would be just 2 input cells and an answer cell. Does such an app exist?

Shopify General Discussion Anyone here had to deal with connecting rewards/loyalty between stores and Shopify?

I thought this sounded fairly straightforward at first but the more conversations I have the more complicated it seems.

Like what happens with returns, different customer accounts, vouchers, in-store purchases not matching online accounts etc?

Feels like one of those things that sounds easy until you actually try to do it.

Shopify General Discussion Product discount with collection combinations

I need to make a discount that is buy an item from collection A and an item from collection B and get both items discounted the same percentage (and have this work for each pair of items, they just can't both be from the same collection).

I know natively this is impossible but is there a work-around or an app someone knows of that can do this? Been googling and asking Claude to no avail so far.

Shopify General Discussion 402 Access Denied

Hello!

I have a client using the shopify platform for their entire site, not just a store, and any user connecting using a SASE/ZTNA app receives this error (copied/pasted since I can't post images):

402 - Access Denied! You are not authorized person to access this site.
421 E DRACHMAN TUCSON AZ 85705-7598 USA  +541 754 3010  [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])

Shopify support has basically said that due to the nature of products my client sells (defense industry), that they'll need to upgrade to the enterprise platform to bypass their network blocks. It's hard to justify jumping from $400/mo to $2,300/mo.

Is this really our only course of action?

Shopify General Discussion how do you deal with liars?

UPDATE: advice is all appreciated, the issue has been resolved. i just unfortunately dealt with too many liars stealing my artwork and none have ever been a genuine issue like this time around. all is well. i’ll be investing in a CCTV for time stamps and have it set up in my packing area as well as some other great suggestions on here. thanks!

tl;dr: how do you deal with people claiming items are missing from their order when you know it’s not true? and to prevent them from doing a chargeback?

For context: i had a customer email me stating an item was missing from their order. i found that to be like 99.9% impossible because i package and weigh my orders individually to avoid error, triple check all the contents before officially sealing the package. but to give the benefit of the doubt, i looked at the customer’s order for all the details and this is what i found: 4 items were ordered, which means that it had to be in my biggest package option. because these are full outfit sets that multiple people ordered, i was also able to cross reference the weights of others that ordered the same set. packaging size and weight matches. then to be EXTRA certain because im a perfectionist… i replicated this customer’s order to a T. every piece of clothing they ordered, the package, all the goodies, and the weight matched up almost exactly (just 0.2oz off from what is on their label)… which again, is created after all contents are in the bag and sealed.

as a small creator that’s worked really hard to make my business climb from the bottom, im honestly devastated by this behavior. its not my first time someone tried to be snotty, but previously it was over a low ticket item delivered 1 day too late beyond my control or pre-orders that haven’t been sent yet so frankly i didnt really lose much at all.

I don’t want to call them a liar obviously, but ive tested everything i needed to test to prove to myself that all items were in the bag. and while i could ask for a picture, i don’t see the point in doing that since they could easily just remove the “missing” item.

i dont want to waste product on them basically giving away a free $40+ item. but i worry that if i dont respond how they want, i will get a chargeback and lose the money anyway. how can i handle this without losing money or stock? what is the recommended solution in a situation like this? :(

Shopify General Discussion Shopify Users limit on development store can not be upgraded

Hello!

I work with a larger team, me being the main developer on our Shopify store.

Because our Shopify store is now live and we customized everything heavily, even created our own custom application, I decided to make a development store to first test new updates on that store and then promote then to our main store once we know they work well.

The issue is that I created a development store, but it is limited to only 1 user, myself, I can not invite my team members to test it out, and also Shopify doesn't allow me to upgrade to another plan because it is a "Development store"

Is there anything I can do to give access to other people?

Apps Setting up tap to pay

Hey guys,

I'm trying to set up tap to pay in my store admin app. Whenever I go to set it up it just says "tap to pay for Android unavailable."

It doesn't give me any information as to why it's unavailable.

I don't currently have the POS app. I just have the app that lets me see my dashboard, products, etc. As well as the Shopify inbox app.

I normally wouldn't need a tap to pay option but I've got an in-person event coming up at the end of next month and I want to get something set up so I can take payments more easily in person.

I'm using a Google pixel 8A.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
