Just received my ZF BB58 Blue and thought I’d share an unboxing video.

I’m currently falling down the PP Nautilus (5711) rabbit hole. The deeper I go, the more I fall in love with it. And now, surprise surprise, I absolutely need one lol.

Right now, it seems like DDF (or VF, if you can still find one) is the best version for the 5711, while PPF takes the crown for the 5712. Back in the day, 3KF used to be the king and was (or still is) the go to base for modding.

But here’s what I’m currently debating: Do the latest top-tier factories (DDF, BBF, PPF, …) even need to be modded anymore? And if so, what exactly is still worth changing?
Opinions here on Reddit and RWI are completely split. Group A claims you absolutely must mod certain things. (For example: SW Dial, hands and date wheel, first link mod, shortened crown mod, bezel, case, and bracelet refinishing, polished, and chamfered).
Group B, however, argues that this is old news. People used to mod their 3KFs like crazy back in the day, but they claim that with the latest top-factory (DDF, PPF) releases for the 5711/5712, these mods have become pretty much redundant.

So, what’s the consensus as of today? Should I just buy one OOTB from a TD, or should I go through a modder right away and get the full treatment?

For me, it’s mostly about the visual appearance on the wrist.
I know there are movement mods and solid gold rotors out there, but that’s honestly overkill for me. I only care about the initial „look“ when you see the watch on the wrist.

I’m curious to hear your opinions and suggestions. Feel free to drop pics of your 5711s/5712s too (OOTB or fully modded).

Just received the Pelagos 39 today from Mirotime.
I also recently saw a post that someone got sent an empty box and their package weighted 0.3kg. Mine was 0.2kg, guess it shows how light titanium is.

Not much to complain so far. However I notice the bracelet has a little play at end links and lugs, prob needs to swap out spring bars as I’ve seen post floating around about this.

How is everyone enjoying their Pelagos?

Thanks to this forum I am now addicted to this hobby. What started with a Rolex Datejust 41 a few weeks ago has already grown to a Bell & Ross and a Cartier Santos. I fancied a nice summer watch and the Tudor Lagoon black bay 54 caught my eye. I got it delivered today. It’s a good looking thing but sadly my QC skills must have been well off as even allowing for ZF’s hit and miss with dial alignments, the 6 notch really is pretty skewed on this one.

A real shame.

Have many of you ever had any regretful GLs or purchases of reps? Lesson learnt and still early in my rep journey.

A long list to go of future purchases…

OMEF Patek 5712.

Love this watch. Need to find more reasons to wear it. Always seems a bit too fancy for my outfit... but sometimes you just gotta go with it.

After seeing so many of these on here I decided to pull the trigger. So glad I did!

Bought a QF rootbeer recently which the factory PVD was less than satisfactory on the bracelet, also had incorrect engravings on the inner clasp that only a full gold piece would have (said AU 750)

Reached out to [u/tylergem](u/tylergemwatchmaker)[_](u/tylergemwatchmaker)[watchmaker](u/tylergemwatchmaker) aka Lichen for a replacement from arf. Had a chamfered bracelet in hand to the US within 12 days of payment. His work is phenomenal! The chamfered edges are uniform, smooth, and perfectly polished. Also and most important to me is The rose gold tone from arf is also surprisingly accurate especially compared to what came from QF. In no way am I being compensated for this review nor did he even ask me to post one I just wanted to give credit where it’s due.

My 1st rep in years. My buddy is a pilot so I got this from Shanghai the “dealer” gave the choice of clean factory or vs factory. She said VS is best for this piece. I have owned a few gen “higher end pieces” a speedy pro, bb58 and have an old school Sinn 356. For what I paid I feel i have gotten my money’s worth. Is it perfect? Nope, is it close enough? I think so. What are your thoughts?

I backed out after my TD sent it back for a DOA movement. $2.5 is a big number for something that didn’t work- it was apparently 1 of 8 so 7 of you may have working, weighted UMI’s

Should I reconsider and go back in or did I dodge a bullet?

Any word if VSF or any factories are working on the 100 Year OP?

So looking at AP’s gen parts as well as reps alike. I had a black Tissot chrono for years that finally dies for good and a $500 quartz isn’t worth it to repair. So I have narrowed it down to a 26240CE with a spare brown leather band; because hate me, but brown leather on black cases go hard. So as of today we locked down a free sprung DDF with a SW dial, and plating the screws. I feel it is a fair upgrade.
