[META] WARNING: Uptick in Scammers via Cards or Memorabilia

52 Upvotes

Users of r/reds, please use due diligence when interacting with these sellers. The mod team is doing all we can to try to take down these threads before they get popular but we've noticed these scammers will use other user accounts to upvote the thread and get fake users to sing praises of themselves. They will send pictures of products and cards and usually send along a sad sob story of needing money for the holidays. Please also take down the OP name of these scammers so we can ban them and send them along to Reddit admins for reports and IP bans.

This also loops in and includes those god awful AI art t shirts and clothing that low karma accounts post. Please do not fall for that bullshit.

You the users of this subreddit have the power to take down these scammers by reporting for scams and the robit mod will take down the threads when enough reports file in if we are asleep.

With love, Your favorite Throwback mod, Rapture.

How does this work?

Upvotes

The Cincinnati Reds are 31-20 in the 51 games that Ke'Bryan Hayes has played this season, giving them a .608 winning percentage with him in the lineup. In games he misses, the team's struggles are stark, holding a 16-33 record.The Reds currently sit in the National League Central with a 47-54 overall record. During his appearances, Hayes—who returned from the injured list on July 10—is batting .146 with 2 home runs, 5 RBIs, and a .415 OPS.

Sucks, but it would be stupid to risk injury in another wasted season (barring going nuclear in August).

pressed penny machine/pocket schedules

2 Upvotes

first timer headed out for the pirates series, does GABP or the reds hall of fame still have their machines? i know they probably don't but i at least wanted to check in before i went.

on the pocket schedules, are they available at the shop/at all? i know some teams have done away with them so i'm just asking while i'm here. thanks y'all!!

What do you think the chances are that Nick Krall gets canned after this year?

poor farm system, players not panning out, zero depth, half our offense are AAAA players and now it comes time for another rebuild. Thoughts?

Can you recognize the Red by the teams they played for?

32 Upvotes

This is purely for anyone else bored at work today who needs a distraction. One of the Youtube channels I watch does this from time to time and it seemed fun, thought I'd put one together for you all.

Basically, I'll give a the list of teams a former MLBer who spent some time on the Reds played for, see if you can guess them. I'll put the answers at the bottom with spoiler tags. If you want to, comment how many you got.

A couple of notes:

-The teams listed are MLB teams they actually logged time with per Baseball Reference. Teams they were only in the minor league system for aren't included

-I put years at the beginning and end to narrow it down. Those are the years they debuted and the last year they played. I kept there to guys who debuted in the 80's or later.

-No deep cuts on this one. Everyone listed should be a memorable Red. In fact, they all either appeared in an All Star Game as a Red, or received Cy Young/MVP votes while on the team.

-If you feel you almost have one and want a hint, I also put the position they played the most under a spoiler tag at the end of the string

1. (2014) SFG->CIN->ATL->MIA->ATL->BOS->ATL (2024) OF

2. (2001) CIN->ARI->WSN->CHW->OAK (2014) OF

3. (1984) NYM->SDP->SFG->SEA->CIN->BOS->CIN->CLE->OAK (1998) OF

So, what's the real reason as to why DJ left the Reds? Apparently, there are some rumors going around. Does anybody know what these rumors say?

Are the Reds ever going to address the status of DJ?
