Local Politics Quincy Fire Department unveils new PFAS-free gear
While it is great to see that the firefighters have new gear, throwing a press conference to announce this was a bit much.

His endorsement is more of an anchor dragging Greg to the ocean floor. Interesting choice

A simple breakdown of campaign contributions for Anne Mahoney, based on what is available online. As such, this is a shorter version of what I have in total, mainly because the smaller number of individual donors skews this enough that one person donating ten times will raise the total employer number a bit in overall analysis. As such, I can provide the raw data if anyone is interested, as this is current through last week's disclosures.
Edit: Note, per the comment below, before 2015 it was permissible for unions to donate up to $15,000 to candidates. Since that time, it has been lowered to $1,000 per candidate, $5,000 to a party, and $500 to political action committee from non-profits and unions. In the data, I treated unions and their eventual political action committee contributions as the same entity to help prevent information from being split.

Hi! We’re visiting for a few days with little kids and looking for a good place to get the best fried scallops, clams, and lobster roll.
Currently looking at Tony’s Clam Shop or The Lobster Stop. What’s better? Help a girl get her platter of fried seafood TIA❤️

I am a Quincy resident running the NYC Marathon in November for charity. I am hosting an event but was wondering if anyone who has run for a cause in the past has had luck requesting donations from local businesses in the area? I'm not looking for money, just physical items for a raffle. I was planning on going with the tax exempt letter around as I have already reached out via email and handwritten letters to places, but with no luck.
Thank you!

I used to go to Emma at deluxe nails in Milton but she just left. I usually do builder gel and some intricate designs so if anyone knows a salon or tech who can do this please let me know!!!

I’ve lived here for just over a year now and have seen hide nor hair of a Chinese buffet the whole time. Every cursory google search I’ve done has only shown results ten miles or more away. There are PLENTY of amazing authentic Asian places, but I’m looking for a run of the mill, 3/5 star reasonably priced buffet where I can stuff my face with coconut shrimp and cream cheese wontons. Anywhere in the Quincy/Braintree area is okay.
Sorry if this is a dumb question lmao. Thanks in advance!

Would anyone be down to play pickleball at Faxon sometime? I’m not super experienced but generally athletic and coordinated and trying to practice!

🚨 NEW EPISODE AVAILABLE NOW!
On this episode of the Liz Speaks Podcast, Liz chats with Viviana Abreu-Hernández and Gregg Grenier from the Massachusetts Budget and Policy Center (MassBudget). Viviana and Gregg from MassBudget break down the 62F “tax cap” ballot initiative, which would limit the amount of tax revenue the state can raise and limit public investments. Noticed Suds N Duds on Sea St. Is closed. It seems like it is a good location with little competition in the area so not sure what happened. Where does someone from the Neck or German town go to do their laundry or drop off wash and fold now that it's closed? Any suggestions?

I just wanted to publicly acknowledge and thank Councilman Richard Ashe and Michael from the Parks Department for their work on adding a fence around Flynn’s Playground.
After a few incidents where toddlers ran toward the street, I reached out to share the community’s concerns. They listened, took action, and the fence is now in place.
The work was done beautifully, and it will make the playground a much safer place for families. Thank you both for being responsive and for following through. It’s greatly appreciated by our community.

Has anyone taken the road test at this location in recent times ? My driving school can’t take me there to familiarize myself so wondering if anyone can share the route that they have taken and I’ll get myself familiarized with it on Google Maps .
Thanks in advance!

The firemen (and women) are having a press conference tomorrow regarding their new gear. It’s going to be at HQ and word around town is that all of the major networks are covering it.

The fact that folks had to petition against you is wild. You could have just been gracious. Like the USA’s most popular mayor, Zohran Mamdani, recently answered to press:
ZM: “I will not accept a Pay raise.
Reporter: “Can you elaborate on why?”
ZM: “I just- I haven’t knocked on anyone’s door in New York City and they’ve said their concern is that the mayor gets paid too little.”
Edit: Miser* I’m sorry for misspelling in the title. Am I eligible for mayor now? Or do I have too much edumacation?

Went to Hmart today but didn't see any. Didn't have enough time to go to other stores, and not seeing any in the 99 Ranch app.

I apologize for putting the 8X10 paper sign down the drain. I should have recycled it. However, I do not apologize for taking down the sign. Personal attacks are wrong.

She calls herself an “independent citizen journalist” but she actually practices what is known as stochastic terrorism. Her recent posts about Anne Mahoney’s fundraiser are classic examples of this. I will not post any screenshots because she thrives on the attention, but suffice it to say that in a succession of just a few posts, she shows an AI video of Saint Michael smiting demons, Marco Rubio talking about the enemy left that is ruining our country, and then she shows pictures and videos of real people in our community who she (and others in her circle) have deemed evil leftists. She even starts calling one of the people she is targeting “lucifer.”
She is making not only political leaders but also ordinary citizens who support them into targets. It’s something dangerous in our community.
Definition of stochastic terrorism from Britannica (see full definition and more info here):
stochastic terrorism, the repeated use of hate speech or other vilifying, dehumanizing rhetoric by a political leader or other public figure that inspires one or more of the figure’s supporters to commit hate crimes or other acts of violence against a targeted person, group, or community. In legal terms, stochastic terrorism generally does not constitute incitement or solicitation to violence, which is a serious crime in many countries, because the speech involved lacks sufficient specificity. Incitement entails explicitly directing or encouraging an act of violence against a specific target at a particular time or place, thus immediately putting the target at an identifiable risk. In contrast, stochastic terrorists do not supply their followers with any detailed plan of attack, which means that the particular time and place of the eventual violence are unpredictable.
