Days before Taylor Farms was widely speculated to be at the root cause of cyclosporiasis, Publix grocery had a bogo on TF’s bagged lettuce. Both companies are now on my shit list!

💭 Off-Topic Is this for real or is it just comedy? I came across this video on IG and I’m extremely confused…

❓ Question I quit social media in October 2025 and replaced the scrolling with reading. The productivity gains have been bigger than I expected

I used to lose hours (especially when I was tired or in a low mood) just mindlessly scrolling, often past midnight. Last October I deleted everything: Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, and YouTube (Shorts were the final straw). I replaced that time with reading.

Nine months later I’m not missing anything. The people who matter can still reach me by phone. In that time I’ve read more books than I did in the previous few years combined. Commute time is now reading time instead of doomscrolling.

The biggest change has been mental: less fragmented attention, better sleep, and a lot more deep focus during the day. The hours I used to waste now go into things that actually move the needle.

Has anyone else fully replaced social media with something more intentional (writing, walking, deep work blocks, etc.)? What shifted for you in terms of focus, output, or energy?

Later update: As someone pointed out in the comment, I am using social media right now. But please don't be like that commenter. I really appreciate productive insights, not splitting hairs for the sake of smartarsing. This activity is not equal to doomscrolling. And as this post reflects, I am gathering insights not passively looking at other people's posts.

❓ Question What is that one weird, highly specific trick that actually forces your brain to lock in?

Standard productivity advice like time blocking isn't cutting it lately, and staring at my to-do list just makes me want to stare at the wall. Out of desperation, I started setting a 3-minute timer while listening to the exact same song on a loop, and it weirdly broke the paralysis.

What is an unconventional, slightly chaotic hack you use to get things done when your brain completely refuses to cooperate?

❓ Question What sitcom “very special episode” had the biggest social influence?

The sitcoms of the 80s n 90s had this thing were they would have a very special episode thy were basically public service announcements. Often with cringe results ! lol!

One that’s burned into my memory was from “Punky Brewster”. The kids were playing hide and seek and her friend Sherry nearly died because she hid in an abandoned refrigerator! Who knew that was apparently the leading cause of child deaths in the 80s ! 😆

After that episode everyone would remove the doors from their old fridge before throwing it away on some random road .

Casual Convo (Any Topic) What's the smallest change you made that had an annoyingly big effect on your week?

I started charging my phone across the room instead of next to the bed. That's the whole thing. Now I actually sleep, and I'm faintly furious it was that simple. Years of overthinking, fixed by two metres of distance.
What tiny change worked way better than it had any right to?
