Days before Taylor Farms was widely speculated to be at the root cause of cyclosporiasis, Publix grocery had a bogo on TF’s bagged lettuce. Both companies are now on my shit list!

Casual Convo (Any Topic) Any Tony Robbins success stories out there?

Post image

In his heyday I listened to a bunch of bootlegged TR audio cassettes - which felt like something special cuz his courses were very expensive. I dug it - but def cannot attribute any success to listening (the in-person conferences were advertised as life changing. Anyone feel they got their money's worth from the guy?

Sorry if this out of age-range for many people - this was the 90s. For you - is it the case that motivational speakers are obsolete? Who can still charge crazy money to hype people up for success? Seems like this market has been replaced entirely with author & celebrity $appearances$.

[I know he's accused of being a bad guy - hoping that can be separated from what I'm asking.]

Edit: To you downvoters. You have hurt my feelings and I am stomping away.]

☕︎✔️Café Official What's your go-to coffee order?

Important question for the Café crew. ☕

What's your actual order? Or tea. Or whatever you drink while pretending to be productive. Energy drinks count. We won't judge.

☕︎✔️Café Official What's the most random thing you know a lot about?

Upvotes

Everyone has one. ☕

Some topic you went way too deep on for no professional reason. Maybe it was a Wikipedia spiral at 2am. Maybe it's been your thing since you were 12. The more random the better.

💬 Advice Needed How to surirve in adulthood when your never been taught?

Upvotes

I just feel like there are so many young adults who struggle to face adulthood because they were probably not interested at the time or weren't taught and then they end up struggling.

Casual Convo (Any Topic) Thought I'd share a weather overlay I am building for Windows/Mac

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Upvotes

I don't know if anyone else shares my obsession with weather, but I've always found I do my best work during what most people call "severe" or "bad" weather. Rain and snow are good. Thunderstorms and ice storms are better. Severe thunder/ice storms are best of all. Sunny days, and especially sunny days with no wind and high temperatures are the worst. I suspect a lot of it has to do with the fact that when the weather is "bad" there is almost no chance anyone is interrupting me.

Anyway, since it's been almost nothing but sun here for like 2 months, I decided I at least want rain/snow/whatever on my computer, so I'm building an overlay that produces highly configurable weather patterns (rain, snow, thunder, lightning, wind, and fog with configurations for precipitation size, amount, sound, color, etc along with similar configurations for fog and "air" properties) on my screen over everything else (including over most games) without preventing me from being able to click, type, etc through it.

It is nowhere near done, but I think it is off to a very nice start

EDIT: just in case it comes of as promotion, I'll add that - whether I eventually do or not - I am not selling it right now (though I'm happy to share it with anyone who wants it). Also, sorry the recording is kinda garbage lol

❓ Question Quick question: Do you spend more time organizing work than actually doing it?

Every few weeks I catch myself doing this.

I'll reorganize folders, rename projects, clean up my notes, change my task list, and convince myself I'm becoming more productive.

But when I look back, I realize I spent two hours improving my system instead of making actual progress.

It almost feels like productivity itself becomes a form of procrastination.

Does anyone else fall into this trap?

What's your rule for knowing when organizing is actually useful versus just avoiding real work?
