I genuinely don’t enjoy purchasing from scalpers, but as someone who actively checks different retailers (when I’m not working) and can’t find any product I don’t know what else to do. I always hear people saying how we shouldn’t purchase from scalpers but at this point I have no other choice! I’m not going to stop my pokemon hobby, so I just don’t know what to do.

I’ve been looking for this card for about a year or two, I have over 100 copies as I’ve been trying to find one and grade it myself. Out of all the copies I have I don’t even think one would get a psa 9. There’s no photos, no sales, no nothing! Zero data on this card in a 10! I’d be willing to pay a stupid number of any of them show up! But the question is how do I find it?? If anyone has been hunting a low pop card and found it let me know! Or if you’re still looking let me know. I need help!

Very new to physical card collecting. Love playing the Pokémon games but was hesitant to start collecting cards due to scammers and availability. Brand new target opened up in my area and I grabbed this just thinking it would be fun. No big deal

But, it says “1 foil & 1 EX promo card”

I assume the GlaceonVMax is the foil card, is there also supposed to be an EX card as well?

When you buy a card everyone wants 100% market. When you sell a card, everyone wants to offer 80% or less. Is there anyone actually collecting for fun anymore

I've been itching to rip stuff because my booster box pre order is still delayed. I heard ascended heroes was dropping a new collection but turned out it was fake news that it would arrive in my country.

Not a collector, just happen to buy these for my friend’s kid when I saw them. My understanding is that it’s harder and harder to find any pokemon card packs at stores. However we were recently at an airport and you can just buy these packs anytime you want. They’re a little pricey at like 7-15$ but doesn’t seem terribly unreasonable. How come these packs are just available at airports but not other places? Are these packs less desirable? Or are they super overpriced and I’m just not in the loop?

I know PSA has been the "gold standard" and around a lot longer than TAG! But TAG by far has the best and most genuine practices going out of them all.

You can view the entire report from TAG, its all done via AI and so will be extremely consistent across the board for everyone!

I know this has probably been said to death but I genuinely cannot wrap my head around how PSA is still as big as it is and TAG isn't the gold standard.

I'm guessing its because people have so much money tied up and invested in PSA that they are just forced to keep using them! But holy shit is it bad.

I wish people en mass from now on would start sending everything to TAG and start to steer the market away from PSA! That's the only way it changes

My whole point to alllll of this is to point out the obvious fact that if you take the same card and send it into PSA and TAG 100 times....the odds of it being a TAG 8 99/100 times is much much higher than PSA. PSA would be between 7-9 SO MANY TIMES! THATS what I dont like. If a card is an 8 then its an 8! If its cracked open as a previous PSA 8 and comes back dozens of times out of that 100 as a 7 or 9, that means their practices are SHIT! End of story!

And that type of practice applied to ANY OTHER INDUSTRY sector on this planet, would make that industry extremely unstable and you'd stay away from it!

Imagine that level of "human error" applied to the banking industry! Which is also why computers run everything their too

There is a store near me where I can buy packs at msrp(4$) with limit of 4. They have everything. I have not opened anyways in a decade so i dont know what to buy. I want to buy some for my wife to open, but I struggle to know which loose packs I should prioritize. Is there a tier list of guide to what could be in each pack? Do I buy the boxes skinny boxes with some type of coin and a few packs in it for 16$? What's the play here im just looking to have fun opening i dont really care about value.

With the 151 tins which were put on the Pokemon Center today, are those new cards manufactured recently? It seems odd they would print more 151 now. I feel it’s more likely someone found a pallet of them behind some other items in a warehouse somewhere.

below, i have linked a petition i started specifically geared towards pushing legislators (local and federal) to take action against the use of checkout bots. they did it with ticket sales (sort of), now they just need to be outlawed entirely. as the petition grows, i will continue to do what i can to make sure the right people see it. but i need YOUR HELP to show leaders how big and widespread this issue has become.

later on, i will post a list of each state’s leaders so you know who to contact. with that list will come a drafted letter that you can tweak and personalize to your hearts content.

Stopped at Walmart today and noticed they had some packs. I almost never see packs out and about so I decided to grab a couple.

Been collecting again for about a year and I keep running into the same wall: I've got doubles sitting in a binder that someone nearby probably wants, and there's a card three towns over I'd love to grab in person instead of paying Cardmarket/eBay fees and shipping (and waiting days for a card that's 20 minutes away).

Facebook groups are a mess, local Discords are dead or invite-only, and there's no real way to see "who near me has what I want and wants what I have" without manually scrolling through hundreds of posts.

Am I overthinking this? Do you guys actually trade locally, or has everyone just given up and gone all-in on online marketplaces? Curious how others handle this — local card shops, meetups, something else I don't know about?

I am an elementary school music teacher, and have no intention to “invest” or even really start a collection of my own. I am hoping to build up a collection of cards that I can offer as rewards for student success and positive behavior. I saw during my first year how many students in all of the grades I teach collected cards, but it doesn’t make sense for me as a teacher to drop hundreds of dollars on collectible boxes. Any suggestions?
