modded the hell out of RDR2

I downloaded reality redemption 4.0 to get some higher texture quality etc. but whenever i boot up the game it has this weird lines effect overlaying my screen, does anyone know how to fix it?

i keep spawning in fully naked. all my horse gear and arthurs clothes are modded and from whyems. ive tried so so so many things to change it. yesterday i had the stuck in guarma issue i fixed by removing every mod and readding them after, but before i did the guarma mission modless, i was naked once so i disabled/enabled interface and overlay in scripthooks config and it appeared when i loaded up an older save to redo guarma before i figured out how to fix it by removing mods.

i havent changed a single thing after adding them back and im 100000000% everything is in place.

my mod load order is correct. i changed the whyems install texture lines in the file from streamfolder to filereplacement. i tried disabling/enabling scripthooks config overlay and interface a billion times. i checked overwrite for whyems in the modloader. i reloaded mods in game using ctrl+r. i tried looking for a custom install.xml that someone made who had the same problem but it got deleted. WHAT ELSE AM I MEANT TO DO?? im at my wits end

EDIT: i deleted and reinstalled every single one of my mods and it fixed itself 👍 i no longer posses murderous thoughts

A couple of days ago I bought RDR2 on my pc (Intel i5 12400f, RX 6600, 16gb DDR4). I’ve kept having one persistent issue.

My game will randomly start stuttering, almost 0 frames, basically completely frozen for about a second at a time, and it happens every few seconds. The only pattern I’ve noticed when it happens is in the beginning of missions and when I’ve ridden into towns (like valentine). I’ve only done the first couple of missions of chapter 2 but this has been a recurring problem.

Almost every time, I’ve had to restart the game and it sometimes still starts happening again. I turned off Radeon chill features, my graphics settings don’t use too much of my VRAM, I play on fullscreen mode and I really just don’t know why it could be. I thought maybe rendering in Valentine, but even after I left the town and went back to camp it just didn’t stop. Does anyone know why this happens or how I can fix it? I can barely play the game when it starts happening, and it runs incredibly smoothly when it isn’t freezing constantly.

Edit: forgot to mention, the entire game lags, not just my frames dropping. Like if I press a button whilst it freezes the input just doesn’t go through.

Did an uninstall and reinstall of ReShade, and the ini files, but no avail. Any ideas what in the fresh hell is causing this?

Hello everyone, I'm at my wit's end with this and hoping someone here has cracked it.

The problem: RDR2 crashes randomly — sometimes silent (no message), sometimes ERR_GFX_STATE, sometimes a generic "Game Error, please restart." Happens during cutscenes, missions, or just walking around. No consistent trigger. I've also seen colored block graphical corruption during cutscenes even when the game doesn't crash.

Important context: I played this exact same PC/hardware totally fine about a year ago, using keyboard and mouse. Nothing has changed hardware-wise since then. This time around I'm playing with a wired Xbox controller, and the problem appeared at some point since I switched.

Everything I've tried (seriously, everything):

• Clean driver reinstall via DDU + latest Game Ready driver (610.74)
• Rolled back to an older driver (581.80, clean install) — still crashes
• Full game reinstall + Rockstar Launcher reinstall
• Verified game files multiple times
• Full Clean Boot (only Microsoft + Rockstar services) — still crashes
• Brand new Windows user profile (completely fresh) — still crashes
• Disabled Steam Input, tested with/without controller, controller via USB cable
• Switched DX12/Vulkan multiple times
• Disabled Steam Overlay, added -ignorepipelinecache launch option
• Deleted SGA/cache files in Settings folder
• Lowered graphics preset, disabled V-Sync, POM set to Low
• GPU underclocked -50MHz (Core/Memory) via Afterburner — didn't help
• Uninstalled Windows "Graphics Tools" optional feature
• Confirmed hardware isn't bottlenecked (CPU ~30%, GPU ~50-100% but stable, VRAM ~50%, temps ~45-50°C)
• Checked Event Viewer — nothing logged around crash times

System:

• RTX 5070 (multiple drivers tested)
• AMD Ryzen CPU (integrated AMD graphics also present)
• Windows 11, SSD

I've got an open ticket with Rockstar Support that's been bounced between like 5 different agents giving me generic/copy-paste advice (some even confusing my ticket with GTA V). Still no real resolution.

Has anyone with an RTX 50-series card actually found a permanent fix for this? At this point I'm wondering if it's a fundamental RAGE engine incompatibility with Blackwell architecture that just doesn't have a fix yet.

Vestigia causing very odd rain particle glitches. Tried using the variants that come with the Vestigia install but they dont help. Tried using it with and without rain particles fix and WhyEms rain and they dont help either. Anyone have any ideas? If not I might just switch back to Renewal

So I’ve had my ps5 for about 2 years now and I like it a lot but I feel like there’s not much to do on PS5 games like rdr2 after I finished the story and 100% the game it just got boring and there’s no mods either so I can’t really do much should I switch to PC my birthday is also coming up soon and I really want to ask for a PC

I'm using Catalogue Improvements and for some reason when trying to modify an outfit the game softlocks me.

An NPC got there first, so Arthur had to wait for his turn. They even had a small argument before the man left. Small situations like this can happen naturally with the bladder system in RDR2 Care Overhaul mod

I bought acer alg i5 12th gen rtx 3050 6gb laptop 2 months ago and played games Like gow ragnarok spiderman remastered etc at medium settings with 60fps cap at which gpu temp was staying at 70 degrees I did the same with rdr 2 because I saw a benchmark on youtube showing it can even run the game on favour quality staying around 70 degrees but guess what happened? My gpu temp is not going under 80 degrees even on lowest settings.sometimes reaching 86. U can see the benchmark in youtube video and mine with low settings.

I used a legacy driver from 2022 after wiping drivers with amd clean up utility. This allowed me to launch the game. But legacy drivers mean I can't launch recent games like forza horizon 6.

What do? I have a laptop too so I can't turn off iGPU which let me launch the game but with 5 fps in menus

I just downloaded RDR2 for the first time and am running into a whole bunch of issues trying to configure the graphics settings.

For context I’m running a 7800x3d and 9070xt on a 1440p 280hz oled.

When I load the game it starts in a tiny window which gets fixed by Alt + Enter. When I do that my adrenalin and steam banners that pop up on loadup are for some reason humongous.

Next when I try to configure my settings, choosing display 0 says I have 0 mb of storage and I can’t save any settings. When I switch to display 1 it jumps to around 5000 mb, but then there’s no option for 1440p resolution and my hz is greyed out to 60.

This is super frustrating and haven’t found any solutions that actually work (like switching to DX12). Has anyone actually found a fix for this?

Just logged onto red dead like any other day with the same mods I have been using for the last two weeks, to be hit with a screen that said there was a disconnect between my hard drive saved file and my cloud save file. I choose the hard drive, get into story mode, and most of my mods are now very broken. They still work, but it is not the same and they glitch out like WhyEms DLC outfit changing doesnt work well accessories get stuck on every outfit.

I really want to get this coat in story mode, but I couldn't find any mods that add it to the game. Are there any mods that add something at least similar to it? Thanks. Also, sorry if my english isn't good, i started learning not too long ago. (Wanted to post in red dead fashion, but I couldn't because my acc isn't old enough.)

So I'm new to PC gaming and PCs in general, I've only had my laptop for about 2 weeks now. I use Nexus/vortex for modding my games and my question is I cannot find an up-to-date version of script hook to enable mods on rdr2. Everywhere that I have read says that the one that they have available Nexus is out of date and will crash the game. I just downloaded rdr2 and have not even started to play the game yet and I'm wondering, does anybody know where I can find the most up-to-date version in order to be able to properly mod my game. Any and all help on this would be highly appreciated, thank you.

I have some mods installed, and when i was played the mission "Just a social call", the cutscene where you free the stagecoach horses won't play. I moved scripthook out of my rdr2 directory and it was fixed, I still didn't know which exact mod was causing the issue though. Now the same issue is present again in the mission "Honor amongst theives", where the next cutscene wouldn't play after riding up to the mountain with captain monroe, i've seen someone else had this same issue on this sub 3 years ago but the post was deleted. anybody has experienced this issue and has any idea what mods are causing this?

Script hook has randomly stopped working everytime i use it the game crashes

As you can see by the image I've worked hard to make the game look as good as possible at 1080p, however within the red circle if you zoom in you can see pixel lines being rendered on the water surface. This is due to the water refraction setting being at high, I can remove the pixel lines by lowering the setting to medium but this makes the water look far less clear. Does anyone know of any fixes beyond lowering the setting? I'd be willing to try anything at this point, I genuinely have no idea why my game is doing this

for some reason this got taken down as soon as i tried to post it on the mods subreddit. i have been trying for the past 5 hours to get whyems dlc working. i’ve tried both using asiloader and online content unlocker, i’ve looked up specific tutorials and searched all over google to no avail. the only other mod im using is rampage nui, which still works perfectly fine when im testing the game. whyems dlc is shown to be installed when i open the mod manager, but when i open the game and go to the barber/trapper, i get nothing. im on steam deck and have rdr2 installed on a microsd card if that makes any difference. please help.

edit: i figured it out, all i had to do was force the launch options to proton ge-11. hope this helps other people who have the same problem
