Im thinking of applying for the night shift for a while.
Id work 3x10h from 9pm - 7am mostly.
Im a lonewolf, and while I like ppl, they drain me of all energy. This job would allow me to be basically alone as a monitor for someone sleeping. If they have a bad night, lots of work, if not, then its mostly chill. No bosses, no co workers etc. Which I suspect would be very energizing for me. I also know the job, so its very low stress for me.
The problem is, I have a super hard time to unwind. And I struggle with sleep alot if Im stressed, I get stuck in rumination loops. Further I cant nap during the day, its close to impossible, so Im worried I might have a problem sleeping after work.
I did some odd on site on call, a couple of years ago, but was taken advantage of, so each night, I got woken up alot. That led to me not sleeping at all cus I was so stressed about them sounding the alarm. When I got home from those shifts, I basically couldnt sleep at all, so just stayed awake until evening.
If Im alone for long periods of time, I will start gravitating towards sleeping at around 4am. But its still dark then, and I get to spend long hours winding down with tv shows and stuff.
Other than this, if I can get the sleep in, I feel it would be perfect for me. Low hours, low stress, low interaction. And I dont really have a social life anyways. Im hyper sensitive, so I tend to just isolate myself anyways. This would do wonders for my nervous system, If the nights dont fuck it up totally.
Oh, and also, I would prob try to keep the sleeping schedule some what consistent on off days to. Dialing bedtime back to 5am'ish. And I would prob just stop using an alarm, so I can just wake when I feel like it.
I guess non of you can really know, and this prob gets asked alot. But Im asking anyway. What do you think?
