My friend just had her daughter and named her Helen Faye and I LOVE it. It’s so elegant and classic.
Just wanted to share bc I haven’t heard the name Helen in so long for a new baby.

Thrilled but nervous to be having triplets! We are having 2 boys and a girl. We don’t want the names to rhyme or anything but we want them to flow nicely.

So far we have come up with
Asa, Ivy and Ellis.

Other than this we are completely open.

This character is a big metaphor for the effects addictions can have on people, and I want to give him a name that could somehow symbolize that. Edit:thanks for everyone who answered my question and give me advices. I want to change my English just because it may needed in my university. And the reason why I don’t want to keep my mandarin name is because I think my name is a little bit hard to pronounced by people who don’t speak Mandarin. And also thanks for some people who remind me of keeping my name not to change my name for the native speakers, but I think if I heard some people pronounce my Mandarin name wrong. I think there will be a little bit embarrassed for me so that’s why I think I need to have an English name.

And for my English name, I would choose among Jade, Gia, or just keep my mandarin name!

I generally hate most boy names, and even if I like one it doesn't feel like My son. Big sister's name is Athena Faye, and we were connected to her name and loved it immediately. I need help getting that same feeling again! My top names are Salem and Archie, but husband hates Archie. Middle name regardless would be Reid.

My son will be born any day now and my husband and I are still unsure of the name. We have two options.

1. Carson James
2. James Allen

James was my late father’s name and we were extremely close. Everyone called him Jim. I don’t love the nickname Jim for my own son so would probably call him James. The Allen in James Allen holds a tradition in my husband’s family. Both my husbands middle name and his father’s middle name are Allen.
My husbands initials are CAR, so Carson means “son of Car” but also child of the marsh dwellers and we live in a swampy area. I also like that it’s less common than James. However, I don’t think it sounds as professional as James.

I’m so conflicted… what does everyone think?

Just going to preface with, I pretty much know already that people will agree with my dislike for this name, but, I guess I’m looking for some good old kind validation from the good people of reddit…

I realize I’m still newly pp, but I’ve been struggling for weeks with our baby girl’s name. Actually, longer than that. When I was pregnant, my (32f) husband (29m) and I kept the gender a surprise. So, we already had a boy’s name picked out, it’s a name he really likes and always wanted to name a boy if he had one, and I also really like the name. The girls name, however, was just a huge pain to pick out. The first name I liked I didn’t want to use because he has a friend w that name. The last name is Slader, so in my internet searches I came across Sloane, and thought at first Sloane Slader?? I did like it at first, for a solid minute before I saw all the hate online for the name Sloane. I voiced one day to my husband that I liked Sloane, he loved it, then the next day, shared my reservations. So, I kept searching for names that might sound good with Mae (middle name) Slader. I basically narrowed it down to Isla or Lydia, but husband wasnt totally on board with those. I started stressing about the girls name, but then my husband was basically like, don’t worry about it, we’re probably having a boy anyways (90% of us were thinking boy because of family trends), I agreed and just let it go. Had a little list on my phone and thought I would look at it if we had a girl.

Well, we had a beautiful little girl. I had an epidural and was just loopy yet so elated and in tears with joy. The name question came up very shortly after, husband threw out Sloane, so I (stupidly) just agreed, because… well… idk why, I feel like I barley even remember most of the day just from being over tired and medicated. Sorry, this sounds like I’m taking 0 accountability. I still kick myself for not advocating for my reservations against the name, and not referring to the list.

About a week into being home, I start feeling the remorse for naming her Sloane Mae Slader. Beyond her name being that if a plumbing brand, it’s the whole flow of the name I can’t stand. I pretty much just call her Peach, because she came out with ginger hair and peachy skin. I express my regrets to my husband multiple times to the point of literally looking at other names to legally change her name to. However, he LOVES the name Sloane!! So, I begin to feel awful wanting to change it because I don’t like it, yet, he loves it and would have to essentially grieve changing her name. But, now, I’m starting to feel resentful towards the situation. Resentful for not solidifying a name during pregnancy. Resentful for not putting a pause on the name in the hospital til the next day after some rest. And, annoyed that my husband can’t seem to like any other fucking name other than Sloane for her. I’m hurt because, this should be a name we both like. But it feels like I have to be the one to suck it up and deal.

TL;DR

I strongly dislike my 2 m/o baby girl’s name, Sloane Mae Slader. My husband is not making it easy compromising on another name to legally change it to. I’m looking for words of comfort or relatability I suppose.

P.s, please don’t rip me apart, I’m sensitive 😆 I understand my role in this, and I’m not trying to sound like I’m blaming anyone, just upset with the situation.

P.p.s - just because I’m getting a lot of Q’s on the middle name. Mae is a family middle name given to all the first born women on my mom’s side, and it’s just a cute lil tradition I like :)

I also appreciate those who were honest in their dislike for it - you were still respectful in your wording so I really appreciate that :) I obviously can’t respond to everyone now, as I also have a 7 w/o baby I’m caring for lol reading everyone’s perspectives and feedback has been really helpful for me and just where I’m at mentally/emotionally. So, as I said I need to change my name before September because I'm going to highschool. I've been bullied my whole life because of it and I feel like it would only get worse.

My name is Uriye. It is of Crimean Tatar origin. I hate it for various reasons:

My father (who I basically never knew because my parents divorced when I was 1 year old) chose that name and didn't give my mom any choice in it because his grandma was named Uriye.

Uriye sounds too much like urine. I've been bullied my whole life because of that. Plus no one can pronounce it correctly because in my passport it's written as Uriie.

And I just find the name ugly.

For context I am Crimean Tatar and I speak Russian at home. In Russian the name doesn't sound that bad and it's not associated with urine. But because I live in Belgium it's just horrible. So I need a name that can be pronounced correctly in both languages and it needs to have a good meaning.

My mom suggests Rian or Bian. She said that's what she wanted to name me. I like those names but I think they would be hard to pronounce.

But I like names that preferably start with the letter A and when they sound..sharp? I don't like cute soft names for myself. I already have a few names in mind and I wanted to ask what do you think about them.
