I'm giving a customer's PC a complete visual upgrade on a $150 budget. The build gets a brand-new MSI MAG PANO 130R PZ case and a Thermalright FW PRO 360 ARGB liquid cooler. I also clean the entire system, remove years of dust, and replace the thermal paste on the customer's Palit GeForce RTX 3080.
The system is powered by an Intel Core i7-12700K, so I installed a Thermalright LGA1700 Contact Frame to improve CPU cooler contact, along with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut Extreme thermal paste for the best possible cooling performance.

Hi all.

Symptoms: Solid red VGA - does not make it past POST. All USB ports producing no signal/power as expected. Computer was running smooth for ages and suddenly after a reboot I’m stuck with this issue.

Fans spin, CPU illuminates and prism fan spins, GPU fans spin.

Troubleshooting:
- Reseated CMOS
- Replaced CMOS
- Powered on without CMOS
- Reseated GPU cables
- Powered on without GPU
- Tried other GPU
- Ensured all other cables are corrected properly
- Tried flashing latest BIOS from MSI support. Correct format fat32, on USB 2.0 with file renamed as MSI.ROM⁠ in root. I insert it in the correct port, tap the button, it blinks 3 times… then nothing. I will try to reformat & investigate if I find the patience
- Removed 1 stick of RAM. Powered on (Slot A2). Tried the other
- Removed all sata connectors (I have a SSD and 2 HDs). Powered on. No luck

Specs:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 processor (unknown model)
- GPU: NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX
- Ram: 2 sticks of CORSAIR

I’m thinking the motherboard is fried or something odd is going on with my CPU. Also worth looking into PSU I suppose. If anyone has had a similar issue and found a fix, let me know. Many thanks.

I own one of these system and the cmos battery died. Confirmed with the multimeter it’s at like 1.4v. Instead of 3. I’ve bought a replacement but the system is still treating it like it’s a dead CMOs. The bios resets and time stops counting forward every time I unplug the computer.

The battery was plugged into the JBAT1 port.

I am curious what this JCO1 port at the bottom is for. It’s the exact same plug. I can’t find anything online about this motherboard and the system manual doesn’t even address what should be done in a cmos battery replacement. Anyone have any ideas what the JCO1 port could be?

I made a previous post on this sub regarding a sudden issue with my PC not being able to boot, is almost completely agreed that it was either a CMOS issue or a drive issue, after quickly resolving that it was not a CMOS fix, I went and formatted a recovery flash drive and plugged it into repair my pc. After it wasn't responding, I did some digging and found that there are zero traces of Windows in any of my storage devices, I was able to prove that on both my SSD and hard drive all my games and files are still present, but no trace of windows. Both of my drives listed are healthy but read something like 476 gb whereas the drive is a factory 512, which makes me think that the boot/ windows files are corrupt, and gone. Meaning they cannot be found and repaired via the hard drive. So my next best option was to reinstall Windows, but upon clicking that it reads that my device cannot run Windows. Even though I was literally running Windows prior to this whole incident, that however was with the "other version" menu. When I click install Windows on the main menu that it gives me, it forces me to agree to delete all files and data, which I'd like to avoid if possible.

I don't know why I can't choose to install it on one of the two devices, preferably the one that has less of my valuable keepsake data.

I enable Secure Boot, but as soon as I save the setting and try to boot into Windows, I just get a black screen. Everything seems to be set up correctly: the drive is using the GUID partition scheme, the BIOS is in UEFI mode, and TPM 2.0 appears to be enabled (the BIOS shows it as on, though PC Health Check displays a "warning: TPM attestation is not ready" message). If anyone has encountered this issue and managed to fix it, please let me know. I’ve already tried reflashing the BIOS and resetting Windows, but nothing worked. I used to have Secure Boot enabled on this PC, but after upgrading to an i7-7700 processor—which required a BIOS update to function—I had to re-enable Secure Boot, and that’s when this problem started. Please help! By the way, I’m using a GTX 1050 Ti graphics card and an MSI Z170 motherboard.

Hey yall i have the msi ag321cqr screen and today a vertical black stripe appeared. i fixed it the first time by replugging the dp-cable but now it seems unfixable, i replugged the power cable and even changed the dp cable. still there. sometimes it even flickers. does anyone know whats up? i think i have the monitor for around 2 years and i only moved it once, very carefully tho. im in general very carefully with it since it was expensive and i want it to last as long as possible. this is really pissing me off now. anyone that has made similar experiences or something?

Hi I updated my bios and afterwards I am unable to change the lighting of the fans or cpu cooler.

I am able to change the LED on my Ram but just not the fans or cpu. I have had this issue for years and just never got around to doing anything about it.

I wanted to share my complete RMA experience with MSI India because before raising my ticket, I spent hours searching Reddit for real customer experiences. Hopefully, this helps someone who is going through the same situation.

The Problem

I own an MSI MAG342CQR E2 ultrawide monitor.

One day, the monitor suddenly stopped displaying anything. There was no MSI logo during startup, no display output, and even the OSD menu would not appear. Since the OSD itself wasn't showing, I knew this wasn't a Windows, GPU, or DisplayPort issue.

I tried:

• Different DisplayPort cables
• HDMI
• Different PCs
• Different power cables
• Basic troubleshooting

Nothing worked, so it was clearly a hardware issue.

Registering the Product

The first thing I did was register the monitor on the MSI Member Center and submit an RMA request.

The process was straightforward.

Within a short time, MSI Support contacted me and requested:

• Photos of the monitor
• Videos demonstrating the issue
• Product serial number
• Purchase invoice

Only after reviewing the evidence did they proceed with the RMA.

Pickup Process

Once MSI verified the issue, they arranged a pickup through their logistics partner.

I packed the monitor securely in its original packaging, and the pickup was completed without any issues.

Inspection & Evaluation

After the monitor reached MSI's service partner, they inspected the unit.

Following the inspection, MSI informed me that the monitor qualified for a replacement.

Since the original MAG342CQR E2 was no longer available, MSI offered me two options:

• A replacement with the newer MAG342CQRF E20
• A refund if I preferred not to accept the replacement model

I chose the replacement because the E20 was the better option for me.

I appreciated that MSI gave me a choice instead of making the decision on my behalf.

Communication Throughout the Process

One thing that may help others:

Acro Engineering is MSI's authorized distributor/service partner in India. However, you should not follow up with Acro Engineering directly.

All customer communication is handled by MSI Support. Even if your monitor is with Acro Engineering, continue communicating only with MSI. They coordinate everything with the distributor internally.

If there are delays, follow up politely with MSI Support rather than trying to contact Acro Engineering yourself.

Also, be patient.

An RMA like this is not a one- or two-week process. There are multiple stages—verification, pickup, inspection, approval, distributor allocation, and shipment. It takes time, but in my experience MSI kept me updated throughout the process.

Replacement Approval & Delivery

Once the replacement was approved, MSI informed me that the distributor would dispatch the replacement monitor.

The replacement unit arrived as a brand-new boxed monitor, not a refurbished unit.

Before opening it, MSI instructed me to:

• Verify the warranty seal.
• Record one continuous uncut unboxing video.
• Test the monitor immediately after opening.
• Report any shipping damage within 24 hours.

I followed every instruction.

To make it easier for MSI to review if needed, I uploaded the complete unboxing video to Google Drive and shared the link with them.

Fortunately, everything worked perfectly.

The Replacement

After thoroughly testing the replacement monitor:

• No dead pixels
• No display issues
• No hardware defects
• Everything functioning as expected

The entire replacement process was successfully completed.

Final Thoughts

I'll be honest—when my monitor failed, I was genuinely worried.

Like many people, I had read both positive and negative RMA experiences online, so I wasn't sure what to expect.

In my case, MSI India handled the entire process professionally.

Things I appreciated:

• Clear communication throughout the process
• Requested proper evidence before approving the RMA
• Arranged courier pickup
• Thorough inspection of the faulty monitor
• Offered both a replacement and a refund option
• Sent a brand-new replacement monitor
• Warranty carried forward from the original invoice

Is the process fast? No.

Is it organized? Yes.

My advice is to be patient, cooperate with the requests for photos and videos, and communicate directly with MSI Support whenever you need an update.

The experience started as a stressful one, but MSI ultimately delivered on its commitment. Receiving a brand-new replacement restored my confidence in the brand and its after-sales support.

Im quite stumped right now as both myself and my friend are having this same issue. I saw a 14900K on ebay for a good price and in sealed package, I decided to upgrade. Yes i was taking a gamble on the CPU but it did not POST (CPU Debug LED) on my board (BIOS was updated to latest and CMOS cleared). Thinking the CPU was DOA i ordered a second one that was said to be tested and fully functional. I gave the first one to a friend who also has the same Motherboard. And he had the behavior as me. Then i tried the new 14900K and it too showed the same behavior on my board. Both systems works perfectly the second we put back in the 12700K.

Both of us have the MSI MPG Z690 Gaming Edge WiFi DDR4

What We've Tried:

• Latest BIOS
• Earlier BIOS (That Supports 14th Gen)
• Clear CMOS
• 1 Stick of Ram
• Reseated -> CPU, RAM, Power Connectors
• We are using both 8pins for CPU power, 1000W PSUs

I honestly have no idea what is going on. Is it possible both CPUs are dead? Yes, but i feel like that is extremely unlikely.

TLDR: 2 different 14900K CPUs fail to POST on 2 different (But same model) of Motherboard even after BIOS update and various troubleshooting steps

Windows 11 won't install to ADATA SU750 SSD - BIOS detects it, DiskPart can clean it, but can't create partitions (0x80300024 / "device does not exist")

I've been troubleshooting this for several hours and I'm at the point where I need a second opinion from people who may have seen this before.

MSI B460M PRO-VDH

Intel i5-10400

32 GB DDR4

ADATA SU750 512 GB SATA SSD

Seagate 1 TB HDD

Originally my PC stopped booting after a sleep/wake issue. BIOS still detects both drives correctly.

Here's what I've found:

BIOS consistently detects the ADATA SU750 on SATA Port 1.

Windows installer also detects the SSD as Drive 0 - 476 GB Unallocated Space.

The 1 TB HDD still has all of my data, so I'm trying not to touch it. Additionally because windows wouldn't make sense on my HDD

Using DiskPart:

list disk shows the SSD.

select disk 0 works.

clean succeeds.

But convert gpt fails with:

> "A device which does not exist was specified."

create partition primary fails with the exact same error.

If I simply click Next on the unallocated SSD in Windows Setup, I get:

0x80300024

"We couldn't install Windows in the location you chose."

Earlier in troubleshooting the installer also couldn't find my previous Windows installation.

At this point I'm trying to figure out whether:

1. the SSD controller is failing,

2. the drive has some firmware issue,

3. there's a BIOS/SATA setting I'm overlooking,

4. or if there's another recovery step I should try before replacing the SSD.

Has anyone seen an SSD that can still be detected, selected in DiskPart, and even successfully cleaned, but then immediately fails on convert gpt and create partition primary?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated before I give up on the drive.
