New infotainment update DL @ 40MB an hour!?
I only drive my car an hour a day. The first day I got 40MB out of 2GB+, 2nd day 80, 115, 175.... 5 days in its only at 210MB out of 2,340!
Is it really supposed to be this slow? I only drive my car an hour a day for 5 days a week so at this rate it's going to take 2 months to download!

QUESTION Rear windshield shake noise
Got my GLI for about 5 years now and recent hearing distinct shaking vibration noise from the rear windshield when playing music with bass. Anyone know the cause and how to fix?

Got to pick up my new GLI today
This is my third VW. I really like the Alpine grey and I'm happy to have found a 6MT. I may hang on to this one for a long time because I still love to drive manual. Glad to be part of the VW community again.

MK7 Head unit replacement?
Bought out my pre-covid leased GLI (manual) since it was just $11k and only had 18k miles on it. Of course now I'm responsible for repairs and issues that come up. Last week, my Infotainment system stopped functioning. No display/sound, tried resetting, disconnecting the battery.
When it went out I had CarPlay going and it started acting up/not connecting so I switched USB ports and the screen went out. It came back on briefly after a quick stop/restart but a few minutes later it went out again and hasn't come back on since.
So I guess I'm looking to replace and don't mind spending some money to do it properly. However, I'd like to keep as much functionality from the factory unit as possible (trim lighting, backup camera, tire reset, etc).
From researching, seems like I will need iDatalink Maestro RR2 + compatible unit? I can't seem to find what exact functionality this thing retains.
Of course I got a PSI light right after this happened and after filling with air the light is still on because I can't reset/store.

PHOTO Almost 800km for one tank of gas!!
Nearly 800km on one tank of fuel!! The furthest I’ve gone in one tank since my 2002 TDI. I love this car so much.
Car and specs:
- 2018 GLI
- 272hp with Unitronic st1+ ECU and TCU (94 octane)
- everything else is OEM.
The Stage 1+ is such a good upgrade (4 years now and counting)! I also take good care of this car, and baby it as often as I can, and only stretch the legs every now and then. Oil change every 10k km, just about to do my second DSG flush and filter, and coming up on a big 100k maintenance with the spark plug upgrades, all filter and fluid wash out, and a replacement water pump. Just such a good car!!
Seriously such an underrated car.

2nd owner. Car came with the Neuspeed Powermodule and it’s been an annoyance. IE Stage 1 folks and others what say you?
Have CAI and MBRP exhaust. Only looking to remap and not add parts at this time. Thanks!

Input on tuning options 🤔
I’m currently running EQT’s Stage 1 ECU tune, but no DSG tune since EQT’s TCU file isn’t compatible with transmissions that have a “20R” box code like the one in my ‘23 GLi does. So the question now is do I go with something like Stratified for the TCU tune since they go thru the Cobb AP like EQT, or spend the extra dough on something like the IE power link and get their DSG tune 🤷🏻♂️…
Thanks for any input 🙌🏻
For context I’m leaning going vortex hybrid as my end goal for the car, but will probably sit at stage 2 for a while once I get there

PHOTO Exhaust/DP Dilemma
(pic for attention)
i’m in kind of a dilemma, i have a stock down pipe, factory res and muffler delete, with a straight through vibrant resonator (idk what # it is) and i want to put on a catted DP for some extra noise, however i dont want it to sound like absolute shit.
I’ve seen videos of people with the ARM catted downpipe on the stock exhaust, i don’t think that setup sounds terrible however it scares me as to how loud my car would be if i put that downpipe on.
i’m not trying to spend a arm and a leg for a catted downpipe but i also don’t want my car to sound like ass.
any recommendations?

QUESTION MK7 GLI reliability?
Interested in a pre owned GLI from 2019-2025 or 26 if the deal is good enough, I know used German cars can be a hit or miss and I was told they are very expensive to maintain once the car gets older.
I see they have poor reliability scores but I’ve also heard they can go 150-200k miles so idk why it has such a low score if people say they are reliable???
Does anyone have an MK7 GLI??? How has it been? It’s maintenance expensive??? Is it a car that will last???

Steering wheel badge delete
Wondering if anyone has made an attempt to do a VW badge delete on the 2025+ steering wheel? It is the only piece of chrome apart from the door sill light accents that are chrome. It is killing me. Any leads on a pre-made option? Thanks in advance!

QUESTION Apr stage 1 TCU Tune
I have a stage 1 APR ECU tune for my 2023 GLI. When I went to get the car tuned originally, they said that there was not a TCU tune for it yet. Does anyone know if one has been released for the 2023’s yet?

PHOTO 2021 gli autobahn stick shift
Im thinking about trading in my reasonable automatic hyunda that I don’t necessarily like with 40,000 miles on it in for a beautiful 2021 manual GLI,… with 92,000 miles on it, basically costs as much as what I have left to pay on my car note.
I have owned three, all stick shift, ‘99 cabrio, 2001 Audi avant, and still whippin around my 2004 Passat turbo wagon, so I’m very familiar with basically all of the problems of the german cars, (obviously became a self taught mechanic), but I was wondering if anyone has some insight specific to the 2021 stick shift, I drove the automatic and it was a lot of fun, and I know that if you take care of them they should go a long ways. But as far as things going wrong does anyone know what I should really look for after all these miles? Can you fix things yourself on these newer ones? Is there something I should know about the 2021 batch? Am I crazy, or just in love ?

Good price for a 2022 DSG??
I joined this group because I am in love with the GLI. I currently have a 2019 Jetta but it’s the base model and getting up there in mileage. I am trying to look for a 2022 GLI with the black package but I’m a little uncertain what is deemed a good price. There’s 1 up in my area for over 25k after taxes and fees and it’s sitting at 57k miles which I think seems way overpriced but everything with less mileage is hitting at 26 and up
