PrintForLuna Luna Multi-Angle camera Rig Pro for #PrintForLuna Contest.
I finally submitted my entry for the Luna 3D printing contest and honestly, even without the contest this rig was well worth designing and printing. You can mount the Luna to the rig using a 1/4” camera mounting screw along with the 1/4” thread handle that comes with the Luna. Alternatively, you can use it without the thread handle with Velcro straps.
As you can see in the photo, the rig was tested with a real Luna to check for stability and durability. The locking mechanism of the elbow joint is super stable and prevents any wobble. To change the elbow angle, you can quickly remove the “Lock” and “Key” pieces, set the new angle and then lock it back in place.
The Luna detachable screen locks into place on the camera rig handle using the same locking pin system on the main Luna gimbal body. It stays secure until you use the 2 red side buttons to release it.
Multi-Angle camera rigs are very helpful for getting low angle shots and other cinematic movement plus the location of the detachable screen mount makes it much easier to monitor your footage from a comfortable angle.
I hope this model is helpful for those of you using your Luna for cinematic shots or in scenarios where it’s helpful to maintain the Luna at specific angles.

Luna Ultra - Indoor Wrestling Show
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I just got the camera in June and thought a local wrestling show was a good way to test the camera performance in low light, along with their zoom capabilities. I also tested the auto editing here.
P.s. Dont wanna get into trouble for self-promotion by linking it to my socials, so I uploaded the video here. Let me know if linking is OK.

Luna Ultra Insta360 Luna Ultra Firmware v1.0.283 (Official) is out
I just updated the Insta360 app (iOS), connected to my Luna Ultra through the app, and the newest firmware just popped up.
I was previously on the notorious beta that had a lot of issues (v1.0.214). Everyone had different problems, but for me I was seeing really bad color shifts in the shadows and graininess when zooming, focusing issues on the 3x lens, poor touchscreen remote connection when decoupled from the Luna, and reduced effectiveness for Deep Tracking. The i-Log recovery was clutch though, and I also really loved the much improved spacing for Smart Framing (when you pick a single composition point on the 3x3 grid for tracking subjects).
This newest firmware seems to fix all of the issues I experienced on the beta while keeping the things I loved about the beta, and feels much more polished and clean, but I'm curious what others have to say.
Side note: I've really enjoyed making 360° panos with the Ultra and think it's underrated.

Question U Mount or something else for motorcycle
I’m picking up an X5 for my motorcycle to replace a GoPro. From reading here, I guess a frame would be a good idea. The one I found on the insta site has a 1/4 inch mount, which I’m sure would work fine with their U Mount.
I have a bunch of GoPro “finger” mounts though; is there a good X5 frame with finger mounts?
Thanks

Luna Ultra Firmware 1.0.283 DO NOT UPDATE. BROKEN. Video inside.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This flashing happens when camera is at 6x optical zoom with I-log on. It’s like the color correction keeps turning itself off and on. Even 5.9x fixes it.
It also cannot focus at all. Even when you tap to drag on a subject.
This doesn’t happen with standard color active just i-log

Lost 360 in Bighorn Mountains Wyoming
I know it’s a long shot but I lost an X5 while fishing in the Bighorn Mountains. I’d love to get it back if a kind good hearted soul found it.

Newb question on getting linear views-x4
I’m looking at getting the X4 for a motorcycle trip through Utah/Colorado. I like the idea of shooting “everything” then editing afterwards to get a linear view of landscapes. In practice how well does this work? Much of what I see on YouTube has warping/distortion. I assume a linear view will drop the resolution down to 1080p?

Dual channel mic record and export question
Can anyone tell me how the audio is encoded in the .insv files when the X5 is set to Dual channel record with the Pro Mic? When I export the audio from the Insta360 Mac desktop app and set the Audio Processing to Headphone Volume = 100, Camera Volume = 0, I get much better sounding audio than when I use the .insv file directly in Premiere.
How are the two mics recorded to the file? Is it just two mono audio files in the .insv container?
When I split them into two mono files in Premiere, they sound echoey and unclear.
I'm trying to edit using the Pro Mic on its own (I didn't record locally to the mic itself annoyingly).

Question Is this mount safe in the rain? Or should I buy a better mount? (Insta360 GO 3s)
I already drove with the small camera on it and went 110 kmph. But I’m worried that it will come off if it rains.

Insta360 X5 mounting base fatigue failure on bicycle mount - post-mortem analysis
I am sharing a post-mortem breakdown of my Insta360 X5 mounting base failure, which snapped clean off during a bicycle ride on a non-suspended bicycle using an official Insta360 handlebar mount. There was no crash or impact.
Having examined the break under direct light on the workbench, the failure appears to be a structural design issue:
- Leverage & moment arm: The tall, top-heavy body acts as a lever arm, multiplying dynamic bending torque at the base under vertical handlebar vibration.
- Stress concentration: The lower housing uses unreinforced plastic around the electrical contacts, mated directly to a rigid metal insert for the mounting bolt without any internal steel framing or material tapering to distribute flex smoothly. This results in:
- Cyclic fatigue: Continuous, low-amplitude road chatter creates concentrated bending stress at this sharp material transition, causing a fatigue crack to propagate until failure.
I have documented the physical cross-section, magnet test, and leverage dynamics in a short teardown video here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFZKVO3hh0o
To me this looks like a design flaw and only a matter of time, vibrations and mileage until it happens. Relatively few rides over fewer than 6 months (I got the camera in March if memory serves me).
Relja
Edit - the response I got from the support - no refund:
Hi there,
Thank you for your patience and providing a follow up video explaining what happened.
After analysis by our engineering team, the issue appears to have been caused by bumpy road conditions, which led to the bottom screw hole of your X5 breaking when using the Bike Computer Mount Independent Handlebars (Pro). Based on this, the damage is considered user responsibility as it is against the usage notes (point number 4) when using the bike computer mount.

Luna Ultra Combining Built-in Filters with I-Log
So far, my workflow has been: record in I-Log, use the correct ND filters, then post-edit for color grading — first applying the best available LUT, followed by minor adjustments.
I hadn’t realized until yesterday that while recording in I-Log, you can also apply one of the built-in Leica filters simultaneously. So far, I like the “Natural” filter best. Having tried this for the first time yesterday, I was once again impressed — first with the immediate “pop” visible on the LCD preview, while still knowing I’ll need to apply a LUT and minor adjustments in post.
Do you have any thoughts on this as an ongoing best practice, and any suggestions for further refining the setup? I should also mention I’m recording in 4K-60fps.
Thanks

LUNA ULTRA FEATURE REQUEST FOR DETACHABLE REMOTE
Please add a screen and joystick lock toggle when the remote is detached. As a live performer, I keep the remote in my pocket for quick, on-the-fly camera adjustments between bits. However, movement and fabric friction constantly trigger accidental inputs—randomly flipping the gimbal and changing settings mid-performance. A quick-lock shortcut is desperately needed so we can safely pocket the unit without messing up our shots.

Ace pro 2 or Go Ultra?
Insta360 Go Ultra or the Insta360 Support Ace Pro 2?
One is a tiny cam with a magnetic backing that lets you get unique shots anywhere while the other is a tough action cam that produces high quality footage - day or night - and has a lens codesigned with Leica Camera !
Which one should you choose? In this video we compare these action camera gems to help you find the right insta360 camera for you ! https://youtu.be/tf5pqQmanwY?si=t8mILLns3iEZ9_Gi

Question Insta360 Link 2
Hi guys!
My question is related to Link 2 in specific.
I have a conference room that seats 10. I am building this out from scratch. The camera and audio system for these meetings has been an afterthought. I was looking for 360 cams that can be placed on the center of the table so I can use it as a webcam for meetings. This room does have a 75" TV as well.
Now if I buy the link 2, would that genuinely be able to trace voices in a 360 capacity or does the rotation stop somewhere at 80-90°?
I think the wave is a nice touch in terms of product but if I can get the job done with the Link 2 on a tripod (that does allow it to rotate
The wave is nice to have but I find the bundle a bit heavy on the pocket. I'm open to options as well.
Let me know guys :)
Thank you!
