The accused has been identified as Mohammad Rafiq Naik, a resident of Dwather, Singhpora, Kishtwar. He was serving as a cleric in a mosque in the Kalasoi area.

Police said Naik was the key ground handler for a Pakistan-backed terror group led by Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Saifullah. He provided shelter, food, supplies and coordination to Saifullah and his associates, enabling them to survive in the forests of Chatroo for nearly two years.

Saifullah and his group were eliminated by security forces in an operation earlier this year. Investigators say it was Naik's support network that kept them alive and active for so long.

Earlier, police had arrested Muneer Ahmed and Mashkoor Ahmed in connection with the same case. Sources said Mashkoor Ahmed, a school teacher was picked up for allegedly providing logistical and communication support to the same terror module.

The ministry of home affairs (MHA) on Tuesday informed Parliament that retired Agniveers will be entitled to 50% reservation in the recruitment to constable (General Duty) and rifleman posts in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles, adding that they will be exempted from written examination, physical standard test (PST) and physical efficiency test (PET).

On March 16, 2023, the government had notified reserving 10% of vacancies for ex-Agniveers, with exemption only from the physical tests. Over the last year, various forces such as the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the Border Security Force (BSF) increased the reservation for ex-Agniveers from 10% to 50% while proposing exemption from both written and physical tests.

The minister also listed several recruitment provisions for retired Agniveers recruitment to CAPFs and Assam Rifles.

“Reservation of 50% of vacancies;

3 Years relaxation in prescribed upper age limit.

Further, age relaxation of 5 years beyond the prescribed upper age limit will be given to the candidates of the first batch of Ex-Agniveers;

And Exemption from the Physical Standards Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and written examination.

The first batch of around 2,600 Agniveers, inducted into the Navy in November 2022, is likely to retire later this year and become eligible to join the various CAPFs.

Some state police forces, including those from Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan, have also announced 20% reservations for ex-Agniveers.

Hey, I'm not Indian and just starting to get into Indian defense watching.

Indian defense modernization is still at a relatively early stage. A lot of absurd claims from Indian nationalists, plus poor media coverage, make defense information pretty unreliable.

But at the same time, people either ignore or moderately downplay the considerable achievements India has made in recent years, which do deserve some credit. The combination of mindless hype from nationalists on one side and dismissive bias from a few others on the other side makes it really hard to observe Indian defense objectively.

I'd like to know: which Indian defense sources would qualify as LessCredibleDefence level? I'm hoping for sources at that bar, but I'd also like some that can meet sdf or spf standards. Please don't recommend any brainrot YouTube channels. I can accept sources at the TWZ level: outdated, derivative, not fully accurate, but not deliberately dishonest.

Here's one extra litmus test. Does the source agree with, or stay silent on, the following view? In Operation Sindoor (May 7), the IAF fully absorbed lessons from 2021, planned the mission soundly, and the pilots actually performed well and executed the plan effectively. India lost badly that day purely because of a significant capability gap.

If a source explicitly denies that view, I won't waste my time on it.
