​I worked hard on this breakdown and this is just how I type, so here you go. As the admins have recently acknowledged that massive live threads like the NBA conference finals cause issues "without a clear vision" to fix them in another sub / thread. I’d like to offer a few monetization solutions to turn server congestion into opportunity:

1. ​Pay-to-Priority Queue:

The problem: Live threads move too fast, and high server traffic delays comments.

The solution: Charge a amount for a Priority Comment Pass to bypass the server delay and pin your hot take near the top for x seconds.

1. ​Sponsored Live Threads:

​The problem: Why let threads break for free?

The solution: Partner with corporate sponsors to host high-volume events. For example: this server meltdown is brought to you by company name.

1. ​Tiered Thread Access Pass:

The problem: xx,xxx+ comments overwhelm thread capacity.

The solution: Lock live threads once they hit peak capacity. Allow users with Reddit tiered passed to bypass the "Thread Full".

May as well monetize the chaos.

Please move the 'Award' option on the post menu (three dots).
It makes it harder to hide posts as the 'Hide' option moves depending on if 'Award' is there.

Solution:
Put 'Award' at the bottom so it doesn't effect the position of 'Hide'.

Pretty basic UX that is baffling.

Many time members harass mods by checking the mod List.

Currently banned users can't see the mod list. I think it should be made optional for each subreddit, if they prefer not to advertise themselves as mods.

If you don't want people to see it, don't post it.

And never require flairs of any type for any purpose.

I would very much like to see another 'response' option for automations, between 'display message' and 'block'.

It would be a hybrid of the two that would be an 'acknowledge to proceed' message/dialog box. The message would pop up as it does currently, but posting/commenting is blocked until the user clicks "okay" or "accept" or similar (would be especially nice if that 'accept' text is configurable). I'm even okay with 'technically they can just x out of the dialog w/o answering' as often happens with generic website/windows dialogs - though better if not. I just want a 'user had to take some action on this' dynamic.

Why? I've seen ample evidence that 'block posting' works... Because our 'message' there has a 'corrective' link and I see that many users follow it. Very similar in effect to what I'm suggesting.

Meanwhile, I've also seen ample evidence that people just blow past the 'appears on screen' message-only option. For example if I set my 'rant preventer' automation to just -warning- people about too-many-allcaps, we get them anyway. If I set it to 'block'... no wall-of-allcaps rants.

Heck, just look at all the posts here that don't start "my idea is" despite the messaging.

The 'hybrid' option would at least ensure we can moderate things that do come through based on "Okay, we told them and they said they saw it..."

People have learned that they can send nasty messages to others without consequences by replying to a comment and immediately deleting it. And this isn't just for personal insults, it can be used for anything from death threats to telling people to kill themselves. Even if consequences do come, or the sub's system auto-deletes it, the message still persists in Notifications.

Sure, you can easily delete it if you don't want to look at it, but I say that it does a lot of damage to the community to allow such a thing. The whole system is setup to provide consequences for anti-social and community disrupting behavior, except for some reason this is allowed?

Please change the system so that deleted comments immediately disappear from personal Notifications.

Self explanatory, social media like Instagram and TikTok offer the possibility to add a word or phrase list of topics you don’t want to see personally, an example would be sports, you select sports and a few related words and then every time your feed refreshes, it wont show you those.

This works better than “show less posts like this” or “hide posts from this subreddit” because the same topic can pop up from different subreddits that you haven’t blocked or ignored, an example would be the world cup, where fi you don’t care you can just block it and continue redditing

If a post is auto-removed, shouldn’t there be a saved draft? Sometimes people spend a lot of time on a post, only for it to get auto-removed or removed by a moderator because it doesn’t meet specific criteria or is posted to the wrong section, not necessarily due to breaking a specific Reddit rule or harassment. It would really be nice if those posts could get saved as drafts somewhere because sometimes they just need a quick edit or to be posted to the correct tag. Instead, the user has to make an entirely new post from scratch, taking up more time. Personally, when this happens to me I sometimes give up, so I would imagine this kind of thing can lower engagement. It’s a win-win if this feature is added imo.

It only shows upvote ratio and upvote but doesn't show total amount of votes and downvotes.

My idea is to improve Reddit's search functionality. Search results are often not relevant, and it's hard to find older posts or comments. Better filters (date range, subreddit, comment search), improved relevance ranking, and typo tolerance would make it much easier to find content. This would benefit everyone by making Reddit's huge archive of knowledge more accessible.

To ensure maximum account security:

Changes to users password or email address should require email confirmation to protect against hacked accounts.

I know there are paranoid users who don't want to share their email. Making it a non mandatory option will help users who want maximum security against hackers.

That is to say, have the option to label the buttons so that the meaning is clear, in case the intended meaning is other than "agree/disagree".

I am not sure if its a problem with newer phones but I have always felt like that the button is way to small, especially now on the iPhone17.

Its just around 1/3 of the size of my fingertip. The amount of time i hit the button first time is 50/50, the worst part: if you miss the button you often hide a comment…

My idea is to either scale it by hold and dragging with 2 fingers. Or to add a size modifier in settings, either as slider or Small to Large selection.

Can you guys change this please. I can appreciate that it makes things "clean", but it is not a good user experience. The buttons are basically hidden unless you know they're there or discover them by chance. It's like one line of CSS with a :hover action. Small change = better user experience. Those are just my thoughts.

Edit: Some grumpy admin or lurker here can downvote if they want, but in all seriousness, UI shouldn't be hidden at this step. These aren't videos that people are engaging with or content being consumed where having static UI elements can be a distraction, this is in the context of building a post. At that step options and controls should be visible for ease of use for users.

Somewhere in preferences, the ability to have the mobile site allow in line replies with a text box, as an alternative to the floating box reply.

The floaty box takes up screen realestate and prevents one from copy and pasting from other comments, which is not great. It would be nice to have user choice with an option setting in preferences to let users decide how they would like the ui to function on mobile, either like the app (floaty box) or like the desktop web (inline) when on the mobile web.

It takes up twice the screenspace for no good reason. It cuts of images that would have displayed fully in the preview previously. It also messes up the posting menu.

Please make an option to change it back, it's just worse now.

I've noticed a usability issue when reading long comment threads on Reddit Web.

If I'm deep inside a comment chain and decide to skip the rest of the discussion, I can click the parent comment line to collapse the entire thread. The problem is that Reddit keeps my current scroll position after collapsing the thread.

Since I've already scrolled far down into the comments, collapsing the thread often leaves me somewhere in the middle of the page. I then have to manually scroll around to find the next top-level comment thread. This makes the thread-collapsing feature less useful, especially in large discussions.

My idea is that when a thread is collapsed, Reddit should automatically scroll back to the collapsed comment so that the next thread is immediately visible. This would make it much easier to navigate through long comment sections.

Alternatively, Reddit could bring the iOS app's downward chevron button to the web app. On iOS, this button allows users to skip the current thread and jump directly to the next one. It solves the same problem and makes browsing long discussions much more efficient.

The bot is telling me this may not be constructive but I really think I’m being purely constructive with what I’m saying here, and not saying anything at all rude or destructive.

I know that thousands of people have already voiced their opinions about this, either in comments or in dedicated posts. I’m sure this was a change requested by people high-up in the company who believe that borrowing features from other popular apps would be a good idea… I and many others disagree. I believe it’s a change that meaningfully degrades the experience of using the app.

It’s become much more difficult trying to open comments on mobile (which is of course one of the main focuses of Reddit); mobile users now have to stretch their thumbs or shift their phone around in the hand in order to press the small comments button at the bottom of the UI. It’s a change nobody expected and I am hoping against hope that someone will come around and revert it, restoring a higher level of functionality and user-friendly feel to the app. This one small feature which I never previously paid much mind to is something I now miss very much.

If reverted, it wouldn’t be the first time a change was made and then undone after the community decided it wasn’t the right way forward, and I think it would be great if that could happen again. I think the community as a whole would appreciate it, as it seems to be a rather unpopular change. If nothing else I would really appreciate being able to select the old functionality in Settings if there’s a strong determination to keep the new functionality. This is the first time I’ve felt strongly enough about a change to come and say something about it, and I have seen many others doing the same across different subreddits.

The words Alumni (which I've never encountered outside of Reddit, English is my second language, it looks made up to me to this day) and Advisor don't do enough to explain the action is to remove a moderator from being a moderator.

As a result, turning a moderator into Advisor, and turning yourself into Advisor, should only be done in the UI of removing a moderator / yourself as a moderator.

I personally saw 5 posts of people accidentally changing themselves into Alumni / Advisor without intending to quit their mod team. I know this happens more than what I actually saw.

Some time ago, the brand affiliate option was added to the comment control panel. For people using the mobile app who are looking to edit their posts, it is incredibly easy to accidentally select “brand affiliate” instead of “edit”. It happens to me multiple times each week. it’s not a huge deal, but it is annoying and takes extra time to remove and go back to edit Brandon affiliate.

Moving the brand affiliate option away from edit would be a simple fix for this issue.

Edit: a better solution may be to have a pop-up window confirm that you intend to change the post to Brand Affiliate (like it does for Delete)

I understand why Reddit wants to make reposting more prominent. More reposts presumably mean more content, more discussion, and more engagement across communities. However, putting the button directly where people naturally scroll feels like engagement bait at the expense of basic usability.

I cannot prove that the placement is intentionally designed to cause accidental taps, but that is the effect it has. My thumb regularly catches it while I am simply trying to scroll, and I highly doubt I am the only person frustrated by this.

Make Repost available through the Share menu, where Reddit’s own instructions already say it can be accessed, or at least give users the option to hide the dedicated button.

If I wanted TikTok/IG/etc, I’d be on them (I don’t have them).

Swipe up has always pulled up discussions. Now I have to click a teeny button at the top of the screen.

Not sure why you are changing the entire UI anyway to buttons behind buttons. Pretty, maybe. But a UX nightmare.

I blocked another user recently, but I can still see their collapsed comments and choose to expand them. I understand that blocking may not be intended to completely erase someone’s presence, but the current behavior still leaves a reminder that the person is there and creates an opportunity to engage when I’d rather not.

It would be much easier to ignore blocked users if their comments were fully hidden by default, with no visible placeholder or prompt to open them. A stronger block feature would help users avoid unwanted interactions and make the platform’s tools better support people’s choices about who they want to see.

well, the title says it all: allowing OP users to pin comments on subreddit posts ^^

It shouldn't just be the admins or at least, the admins should be able to grant permission for users to pin comments,this is clearly very useful especially when you want to make a remark that you want everyone to see.
