the goal is to get outside, meet new people, and get some steps in. all fitness levels are welcome, and there's no pressure to keep a certain pace.

Where: Coral Sword
When: Saturday, August 1st, 6:00–9:00 PM

Format: Casual. We’ll rotate between 1v1s, free-for-alls, items on or off — whatever the group is in the mood for.

Setups: Coral Sword has two bring-your-own-Switch stations in the back, plus a third open monitor. I’ll bring a Switch, a copy of Ultimate, and a few controllers to get the first station running. If anyone else wants to bring their own Switch, we can run multiple setups at once. Otherwise, just bring your preferred controller (GameCube, Pro Controller, etc.).

A note on the venue: Coral Sword is generously letting us use their space, so let’s be good guests — feel free to grab a coffee, drink, or something to eat while you’re there.

For now this is a one-time event. If turnout is good and people are into it, we can set up a Discord and make it a regular thing. See you all there!

Hey y'all! I just started (this morning) a Facebook group for cigar smoking parents in Houston called "Recess Cigar Club". The concept is super straightforward - from the page "We are a parents in Houston, Texas who enjoy taking a break from the grind with a cigar! We trade tips, talk blends and offer supportive advice as needed. Good vibes and good smokes "

My hope is to eventually build this into a group that regularly shares their favorite smokes, discusses blends/flavors/aromas, storage tips, and meets up once in a while at a local lounge to get some good recharge time and to support the B&M's. If this sounds interesting just give the name a search on facebook and you'll see it! Like i mentioned, it just started this morning so there isn't much posted yet but i plan to get it going a bit more this afternoon.

Hey all. I want to see if anyone’s interested before making an official time. But, is anyone interested in creating a smash get together once or twice a month for Smash ultimate/Smash 64? I know places like neil's bahr where you can bring your own switch, Coral sword, and UH Game Center. I don’t know their full schedule and we will have to be mindful of that too. But in general, if anyone’s interested in starting something, post here. If it gets enough engagement I can set a time and place for those interested.

Hey all — I’m part of a local non-profit men’s a cappella group and we’re having an open guest night tonight (6:30pm) in Bellaire if anyone’s curious about singing or just trying something new.

No experience needed at all — we get people who’ve sung their whole lives and people who’ve never sung outside the car. We provide the music and just walk through it together in a relaxed way.

It’s honestly been a great way to meet people. We’ve got guys from all kinds of backgrounds and industries, and a lot of us originally showed up just looking for something social or different to do. Especially helpful if you’re new to the area.

The group does performances around Houston, some school workshops, and supports music education, so there’s a community aspect to it too. They’ve been around a long time (80 years this year), which is pretty cool.

If you end up liking it, there’s a path to join later and they help you learn your part — but tonight is just low-key, no pressure.

Hi everyone! I started a book club earlier this year: the Bookwyrms. It’s done pretty well and been active, so I just wanted to periodically post to get more eyes on it for anyone who may be interested. It tends to be fantasy/sci fi focused, but our last book club read was more dystopian scifi/literary fiction.

Our past reads have been:

Piranesi
I Who Have Never Known Men
Dune (current read of the month)

We meet on the last Saturday of each month (this changes according to availability, but that’s what’s on the standing calendar). We also try to get together for trivia, karaoke, writing nights, game nights, movies, etc.

Hi everyone!

I wanted to share a project I recently started called OFF THE TOP HTX.

Im a lifelong wrestling fan and I’ve always felt like Houston was missing a consistent place where wrestling fans could come together to watch the shows, meet other fans, and enjoy the product in an atmosphere built specifically for wrestling.

A lot of bars will throw Raw or a PLE on a TV in the corner, but wrestling fans are some of the most passionate fans in the world and deserve more than background TVs and muted audio.

That’s why we started OFF THE TOP.

Our goal is simple: create a true wrestling-first atmosphere where fans can gather, react to the shows together, meet other wrestling fans, support local vendors, and build a real community around wrestling. All year round, not just for the big 4 PLEs.

We recently hosted our first event for Clash in Italy and had over 40 fans come out. Going forward, we’ll be hosting regular watch parties and community events here in Houston, starting with weekly Monday Night Raw watch parties at Farm Boy Brewing.

Whether you’re a lifelong fan, a casual fan, or just looking for more wrestling fans to connect with, we’d love to have you join us.

More than anything, we’re trying to build a community where wrestling fans come first.
