Two Sweet Cats in Houston, TX Need New Homes — I’m Out of Options

Thumbnail

I’ve got two cats I need to rehome: Binx (black, neutered male, playful) and Luna (multicolored, spayed female, cuddly). Both are friendly, healthy, litter trained, and up to date on vaccines. They’ve been indoor cats but have handled backyard time just fine.

Every shelter in my area is full, and I’ve been trying to place them for over a year.

Why I’m Rehoming:

My gf got pregnant shortly after getting them, and developed severe allergies that have gotten worse since giving birth. During the pregnancy she basically lived in the bedroom, which they aren't allowed. After the baby was born, we basically just try to keep them downstairs where she now rarely goes and with our baby getting older its just becoming a bigger problem for our family. We are completely done. They just need a new home.

I’ll send their supplies with them. I can meet around Houston/Magnolia/Tomball/Conroe. DM if you want details.

Moving to Sugar Land/Stafford for a new job – Apartment recommendations? Budget around $1,400 or less

Hi everyone,

I recently accepted a new job and will be moving to the Sugar Land/Stafford area in the next few weeks. My office is in Sugar Land, so I'm looking for a place within a reasonable commute.

I've been searching online (Apartments.com, Zillow, Google, etc.), but almost everything I'm finding is $1,400+ for a 1 bed/1 bath, and that's honestly stretching my budget quite a bit. I'm a recent college graduate just starting my career, so I'd really like to keep my housing costs as reasonable as possible.

I'm looking for recommendations on:

  • Apartments that are clean, safe, and well-managed.
  • 1 bed/1 bath ideally under $1,400 (the lower, the better).
  • Areas in or around Sugar Land, Stafford, or nearby that are worth considering.

I'm also open to alternatives if anyone knows of:

  • Someone leasing out a condo or apartment.
  • A private room in a house.
  • A guest house or garage apartment.
  • A "paying guest" or roommate arrangement with respectful, working professionals.

A little about me:

  • Recent Computer Science graduate.
  • Starting a full-time software engineering job.
  • Quiet, clean, non-smoker, and don't have pets.
  • I'll mostly be working during the day and just looking for a comfortable, peaceful place to stay.

If you have any recommendations, experiences (good or bad), or know of someone renting a room or apartment, I'd really appreciate it. Feel free to comment here or send me a DM.

Thanks in advance!

Private office space near midtown for PHD student

Looking for a private office space near midtown/HCC central/ION area for my husband to use for the next year while he writes his dissertation. We are having a ton of trouble finding something. Co-working spaces don't really make sense because he needs private room to conduct zoom interviews and ideally keep source materials.

Would love to stay under $600 a month as we are on a grad stipend on his end, but open to options. Do any of the local colleges rent out extra offices?

He attends an out of state university and has chosen to write his dissertation from here while on fellowship which is why he isn't provided an office already.

Looking for a roommate or two

I've always wanted to live in a townhouse but that's not really feasible on my budget. I'm halfway through my current lease so I'll be looking to move around February. Close to downtown and close to Rice Village. Right now I can afford about $700 a month. Looking for people around my age and as a bonus people with the same interests but that's not necessary. I'll even take a smaller bedroom. You can get the master lol. I also have some furniture of my own but not enough for a full house.

Looking for a nanny for our family

I realize this is a long shot, but we’re looking to hire a nanny for our family (3yo and 2yo). We’ve not had the best luck thus far with Care.com, Sittercity, or Facebook, so just throwing this out there on Reddit.

Our job post is below. If you’re interested or want to help point us toward someone or in the right direction, please reach out. It’d be greatly appreciated!

Post:

We’re looking for a nanny with a semi-flexible schedule for 2 kids. The position is ideal for someone who can work for us long-term, has experience with multiple kids, who has nannied for other families in the past, and is near the Katy area.

We need help 3 days a week on most weeks (2 days a week once a month) from 8am to 6pm. The days might be different each week, but we’ll try to be as consistent as possible. You’ll know the schedule 6 weeks in advance and be able to provide some input on which days work best. We’ll also guarantee a minimum salary each month in the event you work less than those hours due to our schedule. You’ll be a W-2 employee, so we’ll also offer PTO.

Experience with potty training will also be helpful. Our oldest is trained but our youngest will be going through it in the next 6-12 months. We’ll also need help prepping breakfast (most days) and lunch. Like most toddlers, both our kids are very active, so we need someone with high energy to keep up with them.

Rate: $22-30/hr with a minimum guaranteed monthly salary (to be negotiated)

Looking for a Legit, Licensed Psychiatrist in Houston Who Prescribes Benzos

I AM NOT LOOKING FOR ANYTHING SHADY OR ILLEGAL

What I want is actual licensed psychiatrist with an office and listing on Google whom I can schedule for a consultation to discuss my severe insomnia and who will consider prescribing a benzodiazepine like lorazepam.

NOT LOOKING TO BUY BENZOS ON THIS FORUM BECAUSE THAT IS PROHIBITED AND ILLEGAL WITHOUT A LEGITIMATE PRESCRIPTION

Again, only lookin for legit and above-board psychiatrist.

Not the owner, just sharing: missing dog- Dandy Lion 77088

Thumbnail

On July 4th, Dandy Lion escaped from her home between Lemon Tree Ln and TC Jester. She is microchipped and spayed. She should be wearing a pink collar.

We believe that she can be anywhere at this point, but if you walk around the White Oaks Bayou trails or any nearby parks, please keep an eye out and post a comment under this post with any information!

I saw a lot of homes in that area with no backyard fences, so if you live near the area, please check your backyards and surrounding areas!
Please keep an eye out when walking your dogs near the trails, she might be anywhere from around Sylvester Turner Park to the neighborhoods in Inwood Pines and surrounding areas.

Edit: also if you live near the area and see a dog similar to her, still post a comment even if the dog looks like they have an owner, or are walking with someone. At this point, we won’t rule out someone taking her.
