So me & my friends are doing a game night at my place but I don't know what to play, but it has to be genuinely terrifying and good for like 4-5 people

Self-explanatory, really.

My post got removed from r/silenthill for some reason, so posting here to gain opinions. I am a new horror gamer, and still trying to figure out my boundaries when it comes to games.

in your mind, how scary is silent hill f compared to silent hill 2?

last week, I gathered with some friends to play P.T. (our friend still had it downloaded on his PS4 lmao) and I enjoyed it overall! I've always liked horror but only recently started playing horror games. before this, I have played Detention, Alan Wake 1+2, and Control (not really horror but still spooky imo) other than those I am a complete beginner lmao.

I picked up the silent hill bundle on steam last weekend on sale and am playing through F bc it works on my steam deck. I am loving it so far!

I like it because the horror is not overly disgusting or horrifying, but it's spooky and tense. I like that it's dark in a tasteful way, and that there aren't a ton of jumpscares. I'm about 8 hours in so getting close to the end I think.

I really want to play silent hill 2 after this (probably on PC) but I've heard it's significantly more horrifying. the story looks amazing and I'm really liking the lore and playstyle of the games so far.

has anyone else played the games in this order? is SH2 appropriate for someone new to scares? anything I need to be aware of beforehand? I would love to get into this franchise more!

I just finished Photomaly and one thing that surprised me was how much I actually enjoyed running the photo studio before anything scary was happening.

Taking the customers' photos, finding the right angle, developing the film and preparing their orders gives you an actual routine to settle into. Then when something strange happens, it feels like it's interrupting a real job rather than just triggering the next scripted horror sequence. Its like the investment in managing the shop immerses you so much that you really feel like youre there and your guard ends up being down.

Do you prefer horror games with a real job/gameplay loop underneath them, or do you want the game focused almost entirely on the horror?

Tell me ALL and I mean ALL the indie horror games you know THAT DONT HAVE IRL FACES IMPRINTED ON THE CHARACTERS (please this is important I hate it when indie horror games do this, like I'd prefer a game that got two dots for eyes and a smile for the mouth than an ACTUAL IRL face imprinted on the 3d model)

I read the reviews on this game and saw so many negative remarks. I didn’t know what to expect from this game tbh, I love survival horror, love the RE franchise, love the Dead Space franchise, so why not?

I’m about 3 hours into this game and so far I’m REALLY loving it, it’s not as scary as Dead Space in my honest opinion, YET, however I love the creepy horror theme of it. I think this game is definitely worth getting IF you don’t try to compare it so harshly to Dead Space. I know people say the action is repetitive, but I feel like all games can become repetitive later on—-to a certain extent. I dunno, maybe I’m more open minded and less critical when it comes to this genre as it is my favorite style of game. Also, this game looks fantastic, I love when companies pour so much amount of details into games, it really makes them pop.

Over all, I’m pretty curious to know what everyone’s thoughts on The Callisto Protocol is. I think it’s a great addition to the Action/Survival Horror games. Especially as I wait for my Resident Evil : Code Veronica fix, But time will truly tell. What do you think?

I really enjoy this games, "Pacify" the only problem is that it's literally built for co-op but nobody I know has it and the in-game matchmaking is somewhat shitty. Would anyone like to play? kept seeing news that this is about to drop on ps5/xbox. the trailer showed some pretty creepy stuff, but honestly i don't know much about the game itself. i think i saw it's mainly focused on survival with some shooting mechanics?

for anyone playing on pc right now: does it actually have a good horror vibe? or is it just a generic shooter where the enemies just happen to look weird? the trailer looked okay, but i'm a bit skeptical. let me know if it's actually worth a download for horror fans when it drops.

My Dead by Daylight Ghostface mask is the pièce de résistance

Hello all, I have recently gone on a binge of various horror games, ones I had heard praises sung of. The 3 I've played in order of favorite to least favorite: Alien: Isolation, Dead Space, Outlast 1 + whistleblower dlc. I loved all 3, and I'm thinking survival horror is probably my preferred subgenre, but granted that's all I've played so could be wrong who knows.

I remember watching my cousin play it on his PS3 back in 2014. Then, I watched my best friend play the remaster on the PS4, & then watched my other cousin play it & part 2 on his PS5 & it just never really seemed all that ground breaking to me. It never gave me that pull into wanting to even try the series.

I’m a massive horror game fan, specifically survival horror. To give y’all an idea I’ve beaten the RE OG trilogy, the RE Remakes + 7-9, dead space OG & remaster, crow country, Signalis, SH1-SH3, SHF, SH2R, Alan wake 1 & 2, Evil within 1 & 2, clock tower, Cronos the New Dawn, Deadly Premonition, The Suffering, Eternal Darkness, tormented souls, fatal frame 4 &5, a bunch of the puppet combo games, echo night 1, Dino crisis 1 & 2, left for dead 1 & 2, & hell even loved state of decay 2 even tho I’m not really the biggest fan of zombies, & a bunch of other indie horror games.

But the Last of Us never really did much for me. I honestly loved season 1 on HBO & was originally excited for season 2 but fell off because good lord it was just not good. Even if it’s based on the game TLOU 2, the writing for the show was just not it. But idk, overall, this franchise just doesn’t really interest me. I’ve never owned a Sony console (aside from a modded PSClassic) but have had every opportunity over the last 3 PS consoles to play it & beat it but just didn’t even wanna touch it.

Is there a game/series that you’ve felt the same about?

Heya hivemind. I'm looking for a 2 player horror game. Has to be proper scary not funny (so not REPO) and ideally for 2 people SPECIFICALLY. All lists tell me to play Phasmo or Dead Space 3 but I want something more. Not scared to dig deep into indie games and itch.
