I’m working on a small horror game project, and I’d love to hear some honest thoughts from people who play horror games.

The basic idea is this: you’re forced to drive criminals around throughout the night, almost like an Uber driver. While driving, you also have to figure out what kind of criminals your passengers are and report them without making them angry. One wrong decision can change the entire night, so you have to be careful with every move you make.

I’m mainly trying to understand whether the idea of an “Uber-style horror game” actually sounds interesting, or if it feels too simple/gimmicky.

A few things I’d love to hear your thoughts on:

Would this kind of concept make you curious enough to try it?

What would make the passengers feel genuinely unsettling?

Would realistic horror, psychological horror, or supernatural elements work better for this idea?

What would keep the driving part from becoming boring?

We also recently opened our Steam playtest Backseat for people who want to give more detailed feedback, but even just your thoughts on the idea would be really helpful.
