FAN CREATION [OC] HELLDIVERS-INSPIRED NCR RANGERS, HD2 Fanart
Been re-watching the Fallout series recently and got really inspired by the NCR Rangers, along with the Umbrella Security Service (U.S.S.) from Resident Evil, especially HUNK.
So I ended up making my own Helldivers-inspired take on them. In my headcanon, what if Super Earth secretly hires these elite mercs to hunt down rogue divers and defectors hiding on remote planets? Instead of sending more Helldivers to deal with them, they outsource the job to avoid loyalty issues, propaganda risks, or the possibility of other divers refusing to kill their former comrades. Their mission is simple: hunt down rogue Helldivers, eliminate anyone who witnessed the operation if necessary, and stage the aftermath to make it look like the enemy was responsible.
Still can't think of a name for these guys. What would you call them? xD

DISCUSSION How in the world has hellpod steering locking STILL not been tweaked?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I haven't played in a while other than hopping on to get the FOMO weapons and helmets and stuff recently, this was my first real game that I've played in maybe 2 months. Very clearly got called in in an open space inside the walls, got locked out of the complex and couldn't get back in because the entrance was filled with four tanks and two factory striders while I had everything on cooldown.
This has been an issue for what, a year now? They dedicate time to keep super credit hackers from "breaking the game" while completely ignoring things like this that actually break the game for everybody.

DISCUSSION What if Arrowhead originally balanced weapons around teamwork?
I've been wondering whether the reason so many primaries felt underpowered at launch is because they were balanced with the assumption that the squad would stay together like in HD1.
Take the launch version of the Liberator Penetrator. It only dealt 45 damage which felt absolutely abysmal on paper and slightly underwhelming in practice, even with AP3. And it didn't even have full auto!
But imagine four dudes all focusing the same target with the Lib Pen. Suddenly that's the equivalent of AP3 180 damage being applied at once. Devastators, Hive Guards, and Brood Commanders would go down in a reasonable amount of time. Now imagine someone with the Punisher keeping enemies at bay so that the squad can hold ground. The Punisher itself feels slow when it comes to killing enemies but now it has 3 Lib Pens backing it up while they can fire uninterrupted. Suddenly, the Punisher doesn't feel too bad and nobody's crying for buffs.
Perhaps the weapons weren't balanced around one helldiver but rather four helldivers shooting together. If that's how the game was originally balanced then it would explain why so many weapons felt weak.

MEDIA 3 biome ideas that I think could be interesting
Sorry for the awful pictures, but my post with nice images was deleted by the moderators for being AI. I hope they don't delete this one for "lack of effort." I'm just a regular guy who wants to share my ideas. I CAN'T DRAW, DAMMIT!
1- A planet where the atmosphere is toxic, cities are located in protective domes and you can only travel between them using tunnels full of enemies, vehicles or gas suits.
2- A planet completely dead after an epic battle of the great war, full of ruins and scrap metal, you have to recover energy cells/blueprints or something, full of ancient mines still active and turret systems that were never deactivated, it could be full of lore.
3- Ocean planet, where there are only some rock formations with telecommunications/scientific facilities, infested by flying bugs, air transport is impossible, the facilities must be cleaned, the communication antennas recovered and the only way to transport is in cable cars that were used to transport merchandise, while the helldiver team is attacked by swarms of flying bugs and dragons.

FEEDBACK / SUGGESTION Secondary Customization Options
Why this isn't in the game yet can't be fathomed. Arrowhead has a weird habit of adding things in that are half baked, and instead of reflecting on their creations and perhaps realizing that they don't always put out well made products, they blame the community and shelf it indefinitely.
Well, I sat and looked at the standard secondaries and envisioned what they could be, so now you all have to see the untapped potential the same way I do.
The P-2 Peacemaker. It has an obvious thread protector, a rail under the barrel, and that is it. A little creativity will go a long way in helping some of these given their rather "non-modular" designs.
The thread protector can be swapped for our usual barrel options.
Muzzle Brake
Flash Hider
Compensator
But adding in suppressors as a customization for sidearms seems fitting since we don't have any good suppressed or quiet options. The Purifier and SOCOM are the only ones that can kill reliably.
The rail can support the LAM with integrated flashlight, or you can choose one of the two seperate for ergo. Also, add a foregrip. Other secondaries will benefit greatly, and uniformity among attachements is preferred over cherry picked ones like the primary weapons' sight selections. Some real world handguns have foregrips, so we should too.
Extended mags should be an option, but so should ridiculous drum mags. Carrying one or two one-hundred round drums to mag dump enemies would be great.
And for the standout sidearm customization option, stocks. Handguns have stocks to make their unreliable aiming more steady, so we should have the option, too. The Peacemaker gets a wire frame stock that ups the steadyness, recoil reduction, and accuracy. While dropping ergo as a counterbalance.
The P-19 Redeemer is lousy with rails, and as such will be a treat to customize.
Unless the barrel is integrally threaded for some reason, we don't have any barrel options here.
The under rail can support the same attachments as the P-2
Laser
Flashlight
Both
Foregrip
The magazine should be extended by default, so adding a shorter mag is the alternate option. And, of course, the drum. A drum on the Redeemer would see it be crowned as the de-facto primary replacer.
The PDW should have a stock on it. A nice wire one would do, but a second fixed stock option should be allowed with better improvements than the wire one, but also even less ergo.
A boon for the Redeemer is its top rail. This should support the holo it has, as well as;
1.5X Dot
2X Dot
4X Combat Scope
I'm all for the inclusion of the 10X, but with pistol drag...I just don't see it being worthwhile. These bullets may as well be spitballs past 20m.
The P-4 Senator is a pretty tight package that can't be messed with a lot.
The light does seem to be on a rail. A pretty chintzy one, but it's there. Examine the model in game to see if I'm crazy. That opens up the aformentioned underbarrel attachments.
The only other discernable option would be a stock. A fixed stock for performance enhancement to make this handcannon a lot steadier.
The P-113 Verdict is very modular, similar to the Redeemer.
The bottom rail can support the standardized attachments.
Same for the top rail.
The magazine can be extended or drummed.
Lastly, the grip can support a stock.
The Verdict could see some great success with a carbine conversion. Possibly enough to act as a partner to an explosive or plasma primary.
The P-92 Warrant is in a similar predicament to the Senator, in that it has very little room to grow.
Swapping the sight wouldn't work, since that one is needed to interface with the guided rounds.
The magazine can be extended and also drummed.
The only other option is a stock, which wouldn't help all that much since the pistol aims itself, but it could benefit un-guided mode users.
Lastly, the P-69 Veto. We're ending on a bit of a low note here. There aren't many ways to alter its very robust design.
Give it a fixed stock to help with that kick.
And the magazine options are instead, clip options. The extended clip reloads all twelve rounds at once, instead of two sixers. Then the "no clip" option removes the stripper clip in favor of a single rounds reload. Allowing you to top off your ammo whenever, in exchange for slower empty reloads.
Seeing any, or all, of this would make for some very happy Helldivers, I'd reckon. The special sevondaries are even more divisive than these, and I'll probably check on them tomorrow.
