A couple years back some locals started hosting a dance festival up north called Basanoco, and it has grown to be a fantastic event with a range of classes for all sorts of dance styles, and then social partner dance parties late into the night both days,

and it's coming up this Friday and Saturday!

All details are here if you're interested in coming.

It's perfect for brand new dancers and experienced dancers alike.

Last year there was a latin body movement class by Jesus Munoz, as well as classes related to mixing dance styles like country two-step and bachata.

Who's in?

Affordable subsidized housing

The City of Fort Collins contributed millions of dollars to build about 50 units of price-controlled housing for the "missing middle," along with an external non-profit. More than half of the units were empty for more than 2 years because they can't sell them, so they are offering additional incentives. This raises several concerns.

First, shouldn't City housing subsidies be directed toward the truly needy (of which there are plenty), rather than for stainless steel appliances and granite countertops?

Second, if taxpayers would like to subsidize these up to these higher income limits, wouldn't it be more cost effective to just use down payment assistance, and let the private sector assume all of the risk?

Here is the current description:

The open-concept design flows effortlessly into a stylish kitchen, featuring stainless steel appliances, ample cabinet space, and elegant granite countertops. The main floor also includes a handy half bath for guests. Upstairs, you'll find three generously sized bedrooms, including a primary suite with its own private bathroom. Located in a vibrant neighborhood near coffee shops, bars, restaurants, parks, and public transportation. As part of the Elevation Community Land Trust Affordable Home Ownership Program. These townhomes offer both comfort and luxury. Plus, The seller is offering an interest rate buydown. Each home comes with Down Payment Assistance. Only ECLT-qualified homebuyers, whose letters of qualification indicate they are under FMR income limits, are eligible to purchase this home. In addition to the mortgage, there is a $100 monthly land lease.

What is the city doing to the trees in Rolland Moore?

This year has been horrible living near Rolland Moore and walking around - every day the city comes in and rips down more healthy trees. Hardly even dead branches. More than a dozen of the biggest in the park just in 2026. What is going on?

Cheap tomatoes

Are there any stores that have marked down their potted tomatoes? I looked at Tractor Supply, Walmart, and Home Depot north. All the plants are still full price, and I'm a cheapskate. Any other suggestions? Thanks!!

Apartment reviews

Have narrowed my search down to 2 places, crowne at old town north and the wyatt. I will be a student going to csu. Main drawback for the wyatt is its further but about 2-300 less expensive, obviously crowne being the opposite. Wondering people's thoughts and especially people's experiences at both of these locations. Thanks in advance!

I’ve never been to a dealership before or any of that, so I am requesting a good car dealership to go to. I can also add what kind of cars I’m thinking of if that helps

Porcini hunting

Does anyone here go porcini hunting? It looks like the area to the west got some rain and it's porcini season in those elevations. Back home I used to hunt for chanterelles, but I've been skunked on those here. Just wondering if porcini might be more prevalent?

Seeking Advice Lakeview on the Rise never answers. Why?

We have been emailing and calling Lakeview on the Rise almost daily for over a week now with no response. We had them review our income and all that but they never got back to us to move forward with a lease. Do they ever respond?

Does anyone have any Mexican pesos I can buy off them?

I don't bank with a brick and mortar bank so would rather not pay fees to one of the few banks that has them. Thanks!

Seeking Advice Has anyone taken Gen Psych I and GenPsych II at FRCC in the same semester?

I’m starting at Front Range Community College this fall and was wondering if anyone has taken General Psychology I and General Psychology II during the same semester.

Before commenting —
*I have asked both an advisor and the psychology department. I am specifically looking for students who have done this.

A little background about me: I was a psychology major about 20 years ago and completed 15+ psychology courses before life took me in a different direction. I’m returning to school now to finish my degree and eventually transfer to CSU.

I’m planning to take both courses regardless because I like that psychology programs have begun dividing introductory psychology into two courses. It seems to allow much more time and attention to be devoted to the different areas within psychology, rather than trying to cover everything in a single semester.

I’m not taking these because I think they’ll be “easy.” I’m actually looking for a refresher since psychology has advanced quite a bit over the past two decades.

I have strong reading comprehension and writing skills, so I’m not too concerned about the workload. I’m more curious whether the material builds on itself in a way that makes taking both together difficult, or if they complement each other well.

If you’ve taken both at FRCC, especially in the same semester, I’d love to hear your experience. Would you recommend it?
Thank you!!

Seeking Advice Looking for help with a small cabinet job

We have this desk nook in our kitchen (no idea why ppl are still putting desks in kitchens) and we could really use some more storage space to help get organized.

I don't want to turn this into a big expensive project that permanently converts the space to a closet or dry bar setup (cool as that may be) so I just need some cabinets installed above the desk for now. I included a photo of other cabinets in our kitchen for style reference.

The nook is 4 feet wide and I estimate the cabinets would be somewhere between 3-3.5 feet tall at most, and could be up to 2 feet deep maximum.

We are far too busy with 2 young kids and demanding jobs to do this ourselves. Can someone recommend an installer to come measure and handle this for us at a reasonable price?

Seeking Advice Physical Therapist Recommendations

I am currently recovering from an ACL surgery. I’ve been seeing a physical therapist who is nice, but I don’t think is aggressive enough for me in the early stages of my recovery.

I want to get back to skiing, and need to start working out again for overall health/wellness.

Who got you back to sport? What did you like/dislike about them? Who did you not like?

AI Art at Farmers Market Contest Winner?

Post image
144 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I'm needing a second opinion because I feel like I'm going crazy. The Larimer County Farmers Market held a poster contest and they announced their winners on another social media platform. Is the first place (middle) not AI generated???

I didn't enter the contest nor do I have any real stake in this, other than wanting to advocate for local artists.
