Someone is starting fires around our house two days in a row now. PD and FD believe arson, possibly kids. Access at the green belt at Button Rock and 9th. If anyone has even a hint of related information please share!! Our house could have gone down yesterday. We have older dogs, one of them is blind. The first day felt like a fluke but now it’s scary!

A couple of years ago I bought a solar roof fan (the round kind that sticks up out of the roof, not an attic/whole-house fan) with the intention of installing it myself. Got up there and realized I was in over my head. I called a couple of handyman type places who said they didn't do that kind of work (liability, I assume?). Fast forward to this year and it's hot as hell and I came across the fan still in the box in my garage and want to finally do something with it. Does anyone here know of / recommend a local place that would install that kind of fan? Thanks!

PLEASE fill out the 2026 Longmont Community Satisfaction Survey.
This survey and it's results get used for all kinds of decision making by the city including what issues get prioritized, what services are good/bad, what projects have been successful and whether the city is on the right track.
You can see the 2024 survey results here. One thing I particularly want to call to people's attention is how positive the survey results are and how wildly unrepresentative of the city's population the respondents were.
In 2024, the city mailed letters to 4000 households. Of those, 606 responded. That's actually really good! Things fall apart when you see who the respondents were. Quoting the report:
Overall, this survey comes from a portion of the Longmont community that is more white, educated, and older with a higher income than the general city population. Survey results should be considered with this in mind.
The median respondent was 65-74 years old, 86% were white, 67% had a bachelors degree, and the most common listed occupation was "retired."
In comparison, the average Longmonter is 39 years old, 71% are white, 46% have a bachelors degree, and the average Longmonter is NOT retired.
Go make that survey more representative!

I have a 15 year old Breville espresso machine that needs a tune up. Anyone have a recommendation in the greater Larimer County area?

Wanted to come back and share the initial designs that I submitted for the new flag design competition. No crack pipes to be found here, but I still think they're pretty ok.

I'm just going to put this out there and ask. Does anyone know of a local (or non-local, I'm frustrated) business to repair large clocks. Mine is a Grandmother clock about 60 years old, Chicago Clock Company movement. I usually fiddle with it myself, but now I can't keep it running. My dad built it, so I have sentimental reasons.

These hot days have been brutal and my A/C simply cannot keep up.
I have done all the little things I can find to help improve efficiency: cleaning out the entire unit, checking coils, and making sure filter is fresh and vents are clear…
We do not have the most efficient AC and it also may be a bit small for our home (was here when we purchased).
Looking for tips on what else we can do?My next step is making sure the house is as efficient as possible and not leaking all our cold air somewhere.
If anyone has a person or company to call that isn’t too expensive to come check things out not opposed to that either.
Also very possible this is just too much heat for the unit to handle.. are other people with AC experiencing this?!
Thanks for any and all help! Keep doing rain dances, was real nice yesterday evening :)

I’m relatively new to the area and was surprised to learn that child care can cost more than in-state tuition at CU Boulder.
I put together an explainer on a proposed Boulder County property tax that would raise about $30 million annually for child care. The story breaks down how much would go toward affordability, new infant and toddler slots, and workforce support—as well as what still isn’t finalized.
Longmont City Councilman Jake Marsing is involved with Brighter Start Boulder County in a personal capacity, not as part of his council duties. He is scheduled to help present the proposal before county commissioners tomorrow.

Hi! Anyone else pregnant? I'd love to connect with some other people who are in the same boat, since most of my friends are not in the same place in life. I'm a first time mom, and it seems like most of the pregnancy community building happens later on, but it sure feels like a big life change already with lots to wrap my mind around. It would be nice to rant/get excited/talk to other people in the community, and I'd love to know some folks who will have kids around the same age.
I'm just about to graduate the first trimester, due in early February. If anyone is interested, you can pm me or comment!

Runs from 5-7:30pm on the 2nd floor. You can bring a game from home, use one of our games, or play games we have out. Bloodborne, Heat, Wrymspan (dragons), or a Warhammer game. It's nice and cool at the library :)

So I seem to do this annually, but anybody know a stand or shop selling ripe, local tomatoes? It's only mid July and mine are taking their bloody time, but I need some ripe ones for dinner tonight if possible. I try to avoid the major markets, but if you know one that has good tomatoes PLEASE feel free to post.

Hello!
I'm relocating and need movers to unload a pod at my apartment building.
Because I'm using a pod my delivery date is in flux.
Does anyone have any recommendations of movers that have flexible pickup times/dates?
Thank!
