Update: I think I’ll keep it! Seems like the response is overwhelmingly positive.
I went outside and chatted with a neighbor, she and her kids like it lol. She said also that it looks more bold bc the other houses haven’t been done in years.

One question: the reviews on the door are a little mixed, and that’s the cheapest to change. It’s marigold, more orange than yellow. Not a fan of lemon yellow. I want something cheery and already use this color inside a lot anyway. Does it work or should I go with the same navy from the accent?

TLDR- should I switch to 6/7??

I have been getting random compliments on it so clearly the whole world doesn’t hate it. Am I just panicking? I’ve been working nights (nurse) and maybe I’m just looking at this through sleep deprived eyes.

I just feel like the porch reads almost Halloween. I know luxe blue is a violet shade… I love that about it. But it just looks different than I expected, more intense at scale. My neighbors have their horizontal trim at various levels- some 2/3 up like me, some 1/3 up. Neighbor to the left has it 1/3 up the side so I do not currently match his. Mine was previously lower, just like in the mockup Gemini did- the homes were designed so we could switch it up.

I spent well over a month painting samples, trying things. I like the lower blue but didn’t realize how much more saturated the lower blue (luxe blue SW) would be at scale. We get lots of sun and heat so it sometimes will look almost as saturated as #5

Part of my concern is the gloss. HOA told me to use a low luster variety. I have been back and forth with them 3 times doing approvals so I was sick of it and just chose to follow that to the letter… so I did Duration low luster. It’s much glossier than I realized. (Curses).

Thoughts on repainting the front and sides to be more navy? To be clear the lower blue would stay on the bottom 1/3. It just wouldn’t cover 2/3.
Maybe I would use a flat sheen for the middle third, (horizontal slats), hoa be damned? I think since it’s a different “plane” the fact it’s a different sheen won’t be noticeable aside from just being less glaring in the sun. It’s the only part of the wall that is so darn shiny. Or should I recoat the top navy portion in flat as well?

Think I could get away with just doing that in front to save budget. I would repaint the middle third on the sides in flat navy so it’s less shiny, and the white trim would go below that as in the Gemini mockup pics.

Looking to paint the exterior of my home and I’m looking for any and all opinions! We will be tackling this project ourselves in the fall time

Looking to start building our new home in a few weeks. Still debating on what materials we should use that would make the house look good.

Adding two photos. The first is the front of the house and the other is the left of the house (side entry garage and separate entrance).

This is all new to me but we were considering limestone veneer/stucco(cream colored?), but are open to any and all ideas. We can’t do a full stone/brick house, but could do a thin brick/stone veneer.

I’m completely lost on the direction we should go with our house paint. Our exterior is stucco, I hate both the trim and the yellow. We live in New England, so I’m open to a coastal look

Any suggestions? I don’t know how to make it look cuter outside

I’m in search of a new home south of Atlanta. And a lot of the backyards look like this. I’m probably being very picky, but the backyards almost always frustrate me. They have very high (not very functional) outdoor decks that to me look awkward and don’t make use of the space. The cement pads are also very underwhelming to me. This particular deck appears to at least of a finish applied to it, but most don’t, and some are even taller than this without any stairs down to the ground level.

I may be unrealistic in my vision but I feel liked I’d eventually want to install a pool if possible in a backyard like this, but at the very least, make it an inviting and functional living space.

Anyone happen to have pictures or paint suggestions for a north facing home with a green exterior and white trim?

Needing to select from Sherwin Williams and considering Pewter Green, Dried Thyme, Evergreen Fog, Foxhall Green, Retreat, Rookwood Dark Green. Avoiding anything that’s too light.

Neighborhood is full of white, beige, black and gray homes, some random colored ones but not many are green. I want ours to stand out but not in an “ew” type of way.

This is tough! 3 stall garage doors will also be white. I recently saw a home in SW Jasper and as badly as I want it, it won’t work for the direction our house faces. It would be far too dark the majority of the day.

Looking for any feedback, reactions, pros, cons, and ideas on our backyard planning.

A few key details of first pic:

• Red border is existing fence/property line
• Yellow box is AC units we ideally do not move and is also noisiest part of backyard
• Blue dotted line is 60' fence to fence (north to south)
• Orange dotted line is 70' (back of current deck to fence, east to west)
• Highlighted green section is mature tall trees we don't want to build into

Trying hard to design ideal flow for entertaining, functionality, family, and hosting. Want to balance fitting in our desired elements with flow and aesthetics. Including pool. lounging, dining, kitchen, storage, and equipment. Pool shown is 16'x40'.

Back wall near shed is our kitchen, with windows looking out, so planning any shed/storage/equipment will be under window line to give views of pool from kitchen.

Planning to convert deck into proper sunroom with same footprint. The steps coming out of deck/sunroom is only back wall exit from house.

Everything currently is within 5' setbacks.

Time to pull some triggers. Decided not to paint the house and have two items on the immediate docket:

1. Garage doors need replacing. It is being converted into a game room with heating/cooling. Same color doors come in an R-10 (located in upstate NY) but white doors come in an R-17. Im told the white could be painted but I just don't imagine it will come out the way Id like it to. What do the Redditors think?

2. Vinly windows are boring. I dont particularly like shudders, and they are on every single house within 30 minutes. Any simple/affordable recommendations to spruce up the exterior? I think I saw some trims that are larger? Would appreciate any ideas here!

I just got off the phone with my old man. He has narrow vertical windows in the front room that are framed by pilasters. He's hired a crew to paint each exterior pilaster between the windows in various colors (red, green, blue alternating) and broader paint work for the whole exterior. And then same for the pillars on his covered back porch, each a different color, red, blue, green and then red again.

I'm not sure what the broader plan is for the trims, eaves and so forth.

He already has each interior room a different color - peach, green, baby blue, gray, desert brown etc. The fireplace/brick got painted all baby blue. I guess, seemingly okay as long as that quirk doesn't take shape outdoors. And yet, here we are.

He's single and no woman would let this adventure fly!

He said the initial pressure wash (beige/light khakis color paint and brick) today was amazing and looks refreshing (and I'm thinking they should stop there and do nothing else!) and the paint job should be finished tomorrow. I guess I'll swing by for a look after work.

One day, having to put this house on the market will be an adventure, because the realtor will insist on a total paint overhaul.

Anyone else's boomer parent tried doing something similar?! Did you talk them out of it?

I'm planning on painting soon, but am not sure of color. I don't think it's feasible/cost effective to change the stone at the base, and I hear painting stone is a bad idea. Looking for color advice and (secondly) landscaping direction. The tan stone seemingly limits my color options. I'd like to avoid an all-beige house (I think), but not sure of any other good color options. Army/olive green has been vetoed as well.

The two tall trees in front of the garage would go, they're kinda sad and unbalanced. We planted two fruit trees that we'll keep (an orange and a pitanga), in front of the taller trees.

We're getting our 1920s farmhouse painted over the next few weeks. We're taking it from a barn red to a dark sage color. The one thing I'm still unsure of is what to do with a broken window & vent panel at the top of the facade of the house. I'm not sure if we want to replace them, or just cover it over with something else...a barn quilt? some kind of wooden panel accent?

Thoughts?

I can not afford to renovate but can apply paint and some landscape. I have this old house from the 70’s that I want to improve the look of so it does not look so run down. The roof shingles are a rusty brown color so I’m kinda wondering about a pale green or blue but unsure! The attached deck is also a reddish brown and the roof trim is a dark brown since this picture was taken. I added a picture in the comments of painted roof trim. Any thoughts on what direction I should go to make this place look nice?

Editing to add that my dad’s son power washed it at a high pressure and it ate away at edges of trim. They are not asbestos but some kind of pressed material that should not be power washed at a high pressure like he did. He also painted it with a sprayer and you can see through the paint. Many are asking if he is my brother and yes biologically he is but a very bad person who is estranged from everyone but our father. This is my house but my father to live in it while he built a new one and performed his version of upkeep while in it.

Since these pictures I have scrubbed entire house with warm water and soap to remove the algae on it and have added some beach grass and hydrangeas to the front.

I am working on having a modular home built (not manufactured). It is being placed in the foothills of a mountain range with tan brush and green evergreen trees at higher elevation in the background.

This is the initial color scheme that I was sent over. I’m looking for advice on rather to go with one tone, two tone, and how best to orient the hardy board.

Hi. We are in the process of replacing roof, gutters, and awnings on our home and would like some opinions - particularly on the awning pattern.

House is an L shape. The outside of the L is stucco, the inside of the L is siding (idk why). Awnings are all on the inside of the L, three awnings on the top walkway (shown) and one on the first floor. The wall in the photos is the inside, long portion of the L and faces NNW (330*), the other interior wall of the L is facing SSW (240*).

The gutters are Spectra, in Traditional Blue, the top trim is color matched to it (no gutters are on the inside of the L). The photos show that blue (as actually painted).

The awning samples are Sunbrella Baycrest Pacific (BP) and Pacific Blue Fancy (PBF). The PBF sample does not show the full color palette/pattern, so I added a screenshot of the full pattern.

We prefer the boldness of the PBF, but are thinking the BP may be a better match with the Traditional Blue and the brickwork and the PBF may be too much contrast without real coordination (but hard to tell from the incomplete sample). Note that the top trim is well above the awnings in the pictures but is within about two feet of the 1st level awning.

Additionally, we were thinking of doing the door and window trim (for all doors, up and down) in the same traditional blue as the top trim, but the doors themselves in one of the deeper blues out of either PBF or BP.

We are building a longhouse 18x50 with 12’ covered porch. We will have white windows and have not decided on exterior color, but we are trying to decide which siding to go with. Looking for more timeless look rather than modern. Also, ease of installation would be nice too.

One is the entry garden, and the other is beside my carport.

I currently live in a country with a tropical climate, and the plants you see are all suitable and commonly available here. I've also discussed the feasibility with a professional, so I'm mainly looking for design feedback.

My husband and I want to rip out this old screened in porch and make it a composite deck backing up to an above ground pool and maybe a gazebo. I just can’t rack my brain on what to do by the door. There’s already a soffit area on the part of the house the goes about two feet in but there’s nothing for the door area. I wish the second story was above to build it something. Any ideas? Part of me wants to leave half the lean in cover.

Which shed design do you prefer?

You guys convinced me not to paint the brick. Is white washing just as bad? If so, what colors can I paint everything else to increase curb appeal. I hate the curved arches.

How would you transform this petite front porch--without making any structural changes--to:

• Have room for at least one person (ideally two) to sit and people watch with a spot for drinks. AI doesn't think I have room for much of a porch swing.
• Infuse personality with color and/or pattern (maybe through a small rug and/or outdoor pillows?)
• Include planters or flowerpots(?)
