Tuning Information New to tuning? Start here!
If you're new to tuning then this post is for you. Since the subreddit just switched over to the new Reddit layout things got jumbled around and the information links aren't as easy to find. I have decided to list everything for people new to tuning here. Most of the information can be found at the subreddit's old wiki page.
What do I need in order to tune my car?
For the majority of applications you need:
- A moderate quality laptop computer
- A way to connect the computer to your vehicle/ECU
- Software to download/modify/upload tune files
There are applications in which a "handheld" tuner will suffice.
A breakdown of what software and hardware is required (and price estimations for them) can be found on the subreddit's applications page
What do I need to know to start tuning?
You should have a basic understanding of how a modern internal combustion engine works and what changes in the engine mapping do. I highly recommend reading through this post on the VEMS Support forum as it goes pretty in depth on how engines and tuning works. I also suggest checking out HP Academy's Bare Minimum Tuning Knowledge Course since it touches base on a lot of tuning subjects and is free to access.
If you have any questions that aren't answered here feel free to make a post. There are a lot of highly knowledgeable members on here.
If you think that this post is missing some information that should be easily accessible for those who are new then leave a comment and I'll see about adding it as soon as I can.
Happy Tuning!

Guide to post
We seen a lot of posts here, people asking for help and not providing any info with the question.
So, from now on a post should include the car's maker, model and year, engine code, ECU model and any mods it has.
For example, questions about stage 1 tune for a golf should preferably include like this in the first few lines of the post:
“VW Golf mk4 1-9 tdi 96kw 2003 - stage 1 tune – ASZ - EDC15P “
We won't provide stage 1 tunes, we can only help you with understanding and tuning it by yourself. we won't help with pops and bangs on a Polo or a Golf
We added a few rules to avoid spam and potential legal problems.
Use Google before you post and remember that in most of the world tuned ECUs and aftermarket ones are for off-road only ;)

New Ducati V2 ECU Mapping / Tune / etc.
Hey guys, does anyone already re-mapped the new Ducati V2 engine? Either in Pani, Multi, Streetfighter or Hyper? What was your experience before and after the tune? What was the process? Would you recommend or not? How high were the costs in your country and so on. Would be much appreciated for any infos, experience or community opinion on the topic! Thanks in advance!

Tuning Question - Unanswered VW Golf MK4 1.9 TDI PD150 ARL Stage 1 Map. - Power loss after 3800RPM during on road test, recalibration needed.
Tools used:
Kess V2
VAG EDC15P Suite
A Newbie (me!!)
Hello everyone, I have developed my own 1.9TDI PD150 Map file for my 2002 Golf MK4 6MT 2WD, for the first time, ever for me. I have edited the Injector duration map, Start of Injection, Boost Limit Map, Smoke Limiter, Drivers wish, Torque Limiter, Boost target Map, N75 Duty Cycle and have reduced the usage of the EGR valve, but i have not done a full EGR delete. I have also added a 2500RPM Limiter using a program called Hardcut Limiter Diesel, which after studying has been added to the ECU file.
Now, VAG Suite has predicted my output power and torque to be 195hp and 403nm. After creating my map and flashing my EDC15P ECU via OBDII, the car feels different, it feels like it has a very good punch, foot to the floor, we are getting 70mg/stroke of diesel and 2600mbar absolute pressure in the manifold, which equates to about 1.6 bar of boost when removing the amount of atmospheric pressure. The Injector duration map uses PD160 values which have been increased by about 1.5deg. Boost limit map has been maxed out to 2600mbar when getting 70mg/stroke diesel from 2250rpm to 3800rpm. The Smoke limiter is restricted to 70mg/stroke at only 1200mg/str Mass Air Flow. Drivers Wish allows 70mg/str over 80% throttle. Torque Limiter allows a max of 70mg/str above 2750rpm as to not stress the gearbox too bad and it slowly tapers down to a nominal 63mg/str at 4800rpm. The N75 Duty cycle was reduced in the higher revs by 2-5% to help loss of power at higher power bands.
We logged data during the test drive with my Kingbolen S6 Elite OBD Scanner, it has capabilities similar to VCDS. Boost and Injection Quantity responded almost precisely to the map i created, however we had a 50mbar overboost, nuthin seryous, probably just needs the VNT actuator adjusting.
So, my problem i have with the map is that it kicks, like it kicks real good, full (expected) 400nm, but then it becomes gutless after about 3800rpm till redline. After looking at Vag Suites predicted power and torque, the gutlessness after 3800rpm shows in the prediction, it drops off like someone being thrown off the grand canyon with an anchor attached to their foot.
I managed to get the power at 5000rpm to go up from 63nm to 143nm, now i'm yet to test this revision of the map but, Do we have any ideas how to make the drop off less aggressive? i've messed with the torque limiter a fair bit but i want to leave it alone as i don't want to compromise any reliability.
See The figure above to view the drop off in power.
Thank you all to who that reply, i will supply the values of all maps i have edited in the comments.

Aem uego wide and issue
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Trying to set up an aem uego wideband on a turbo nb miata with a megasquirt. Brand new wideband with fae sensor, only started the car maybe 4-5 times. On the first couple startups the sensor was working fine enough to get the ve table setup at idle, but now no matter what I do the sensor only reads max lean or max rich. Tried air calibration multiple times. Any idea what would cause this? Sensor doesn't look fouled or burned when I took it out

Anyone up to help with a fiat topolino stage 1
I think the title is good but basically going to get a fiat topolino in a month or so and from the factory they come limited to 45 km/h also known as 28 mph. That is almost dangerously slow for the road. Ive seen shops charging a lot for a simple remap of the ecu to unlock this restriction. Does anyone think that they could help me uncap this when I get it.

So im Looking to learn ECU tuning
My brother owns a performance tuning garage, he makes race cars, and he’s a dealer for one of the global tuning companies. He wants me to spend a few years learning ECU tuning so we can grow the garage independently instead of paying commission to the tuner company every time.
Plan is: 6-12 months learning the basics, then he buys me a car to practice on, and in 4-5 years if im ready to go professional I’d be doing this professionally with his existing client base to fall back on.
I’m 21, decent car knowledge, some basic tuning knowledge already, and genuinely into it. Im looking at this as an opportunity.
Questions for the pros here:
Where’s the best place to start learning (courses, mentorship, self-taught)?
What’s the actual path to get good — step by step, not just “practice”?
How long did it realistically take you to get good?
How long before you started taking on real/paying work?
Looking back, what would you have done differently to advance faster?

Announcement FlowECU has now passed 500 downloads worldwide
I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has downloaded FlowECU, tested it, shared the project, reported problems, or contacted me with ideas and feature requests.
FlowECU started as a fairly small project, and it has gradually grown into a much broader ECU editing and knowledge platform. A lot of that direction has come from the feedback I’ve received from people in the tuning and car-hacking communities.
It is still evolving, and there is plenty left to build, but passing 500 downloads is a milestone I honestly wasn’t expecting when I first released it.
Thanks again to everyone who has taken an interest and helped shape the project so far.

2020+ ecu unlock
I unlocked the ECU using FLEX, but I wasn’t able to flash it with Bootmod3. It seems that bootmod3 flashing is not supported yet.
I guess the only option is to wait until Bootmod3 supports MMS FLEX ECU unlocks. At the moment, it seems that only MG Flasher is supported

Jb4 Tune and BOOTMOD3 question
Hello! I'm trying to figure out if a Jb4 will do what it's supposed to on MINIs post 2020. I've read a bunch of comments across reddit saying they own one and love it, and a bunch of YT videos talking about how post-2020 the manufacturers changed something that prevents the tuner from...tuning? Or at least limits its capabilities.
I have a 2023 Cooper S. Is the Jb4 compatible with it?
Bonus!
Thoughts on the BOOTMOD3? I watched a video and read some stuff on it but I low-key still barely understand what it does/how it differs from other tuners.
Tysm! 🙏

Xprog question if anyone knows please.
I need to us xprog adapter 19, but I can't find any info of the pinout on it. Does anyone know the input of the adapter? Also if you could explain what the adapter is for would be great. All I can find out is that it seems to have more voltage options.
