For context, Tai and TK head to France to destroy a control spire there and the digidestined they meet has a Floramon so when they go to actually fight, it’s MetalGreymon, MagnaAngemon, and Kiwimon fighting together which is just hilarious to me.

Since Greymon was inspired by Gomora, I guess this makes everything full circle.

I loved Digimon growing up, and discovering fan made versions of the original VPets for PC made me appreciate the genre. I love the simplicity and sense of discovery that comes with raising your own digital creature, although I always felt like there was room to expand on the formula.

That’s why I’ve spent the last year making the game I always wanted to play.

I recently downloaded Digimon UP hoping it would capture some of those feelings. I’m enjoying it for what it is, but seeing how many people here (like me) wanted a straight VPet instead, gave me a boost of confidence to finally share my project here.

I’m a little hesitant to post this here but I have two reasons for doing so:

1. If you’re into Digimon and virtual pets, I think my game might be something you’ll enjoy
2. I’d love to hear from you what features you’d want from a modern VPet or if you have any feedback on how the game looks at this point.

I wasn't expecting him to fly tbh. I was expecting him to do some generic strong pose but no he just flew in lol

Edit: forgot to say that he didn't look like he would fly and that's why it caught me off guard lol

(I've been playing the game mostly blind and just got to this forest area in the digital world please no spoilers!)

I probably want to go over some of these lines sharper but he was happy with it which is all that matters to me ☺️

*Gazimon stands completely still, his breathing shallow as he listens…the sound of crickets chirping and the flies around the body making it difficult…yet…he hears 3 breaths…not of himself, dorumon, and loogarmon, but the shallow, calm breaths of someone trying to hide their presence, like a hunter stalking prey…*

Gazimon: “dorumon, loogarmon, get over here…and you three watching us, reveal yourselves, unless you want me to rip you to shreds!*

*two breaths quicken as the two children obediently run to their leader, already frightened by the possibility of being attacked…though one of the breaths start to whisper to the others as suddenly someone approaches, arms raised to show no harm. The blue carapace and red accents tell gazimon exactly what type of digimon they're dealing with…*

Kokabuterimon: “at ease you three…me and my team mean no harm…”

*on cue, a dokunemon nervously crawls out, followed by a kunemon, the two insects letting out frightened hisses at the beasts*

Kokabuterimon: “I am kokabuterimon, son of the king of insects, tyrantkabuterimon, and heir to the throne, these two fellows are my teammates kunemon and dokunemon.”

*the two larvae look at their leader worriedly before a nod from him puts them at ease*

Dokunemon: “I….DOKUNE……THEY….KUNE….”

Kunemon: “G-GREETS….MANY GREETS….”

Kokabuterimon: “please excuse them, the literacy rate in my kingdom is subpar at best, so having two random soldiers in training learn an entirely new language in just a few weeks was impossible.”

*Gazimon kept his eyes on the team, assessing their strength, as he did the math in his head. “Those two worms are nothing special, both can become champions at best…but that kokabuterimon, I barely feel any excess power from him…either he's completely pathetic or hes so good at hiding his power that…”*

Gazimon: “im…gazimon, no fancy titles but these two are my teammates loogarmon and dorumon. You-”

Kokabuterimon: “i know what you're about to ask, no we weren't the ones that killed these digimon. It was a lucemon, impmon, and a numemon.”

Dorumon: “w-wait a lucemon?!”

Loogarmon: “oh yeah, you don't know about that…uh we saw that group earlier and went around then to avoid getting our butts kicked…seems like these guys saw them too.”

Gazimon: “we didnt wake you up because we knew you'd-”

*before gazimon can further explain himself, dorumon suddenly digivolved to grademon, swords drawn*

Gazimon: “...want to fight them…”

Grademon: “well duh! They're villains trying to kill people! If I can stop them, I will!”

*grademon prepares to run, though is suddenly stopped by a voice ringing out*

Kokabuterimon: “excuse me but, i doubt you'd be able to fight a demon lord all by yourselves, maybe we should call the royal knights to deal with them?”

Gazimon: “yeah, no offense grademon but you aren't even able to become a mega. If that is THE great demon lord of pride then it'd be best for all of us to call down a royal knight somehow.”

Grademon: “but-...i can take him! Im sure i can!”

*the two of them bicker as kokabuterimon watches loogarmon closely, the wolf taking his gaze away from the 3 insects for just a few moments, kunemon and dokunemon immediately running off…*

*grademon hears the rustling of leaves as he looks towards the group of bugs*

Grademon: “wait where are you guys-”

*it was faster than any of them could react to while off guard, a swarm of insects rushing into grademon as they shoot through him like arrows, ripping through his armor with ease, forcing him down to dorumon due to his severe injuries. Gazimon looks towards dorumon with horror in his eyes, only to be surrounded by a swarm of beetles, the insects suddenly grow to the size of baseballs and crushing gazimon with the sickening crack of his bones being shattered and wireframe collapsing onto itself. Loogarmon is the last one to react, barely dodging a blast of compressed air, though before he can ready himself to dodge again, another air blast hits him head on, launching him and slamming him into a tree. Dorumon looks up at kokabuterimon, the sound of crickets drowning out all other noise with an earsplitting screech…though despite the noise, one calm voice rings out clearly*

Kokabuterimon: “that was your power, yet you thought you could fight a demon lord? How delusional can you be, your ego rivals even that of the demon lord you wish to best~”

*three swarms of insects swirls around kokabuterimon in a triple helix, mosquitoes, beetles, and crickets all ready to fight for their master. Much to Kokabuterimon's surprise, dorumon slowly stands, digivolving into grademon once more despite his injuries. Raising his sword to his enemy, he barely spits out*

Grademon: “y-....you dirty….c-cheater…if y-you think i'll go down that…easily…then you have another…thing…coming*

*With what little power he can muster, he casts a healing spell, repairing the more grievous wounds, though only barely. He then stands up straight, blades drawn and ready to attack*

Grademon: “...let's dance…”

Kokabuterimon: “If that's your dying wish, then I shall deliver upon it.”

*grademon dashes forwards with great speed, dodging the mosquito swarm as they instead hit a tree, shredding it. The crickets let out especially loud screeches as the sonic blasts shoot towards grademon, the knight sidestepping the attack before slashing at his foe, the beetles expanding in front of him and forming a shield that blocks his slash. Barely sidestepping the returning trip of the mosquitos, the beetles part to let them through, grademon slashing through the opening only to be met with a point blank sonic blast, launching him backwards. He lands, only marginally damaged by the attack, trying to think of a strategy as he continues dodging*

Grademon: “i-i cant keep up…if this were 3 seperate people i could easily win, but because the swarms are all controlled by one digimon, they're perfectly in sync…”

*he looks at loogarmon, hoping he'd be able to help, only to see the wolf's eyes closed, the blast seeming to have knocked him out*

Grademon: “DAMMIT! The blast dont even hurt that much, how did one knock you out, idiot?!”

*grademon's second of distraction allows kokabuterimon to land another hit, the mosquitos shooting at his enemy just a moment too quick as they rip through grademon's side mid dodge…*

Grademon: “i just need one clean hit…i just need one good opening!!!”

*he rushes towards kokabuterimon once more, jumping over a sonic blast as he uses the momentum to jab his sword forwards…barely making it through a gap in the beetles as the mosquitos hit him once more, forcing him to the ground as they tear apart his leg, leaving only a messy stump…*

Grademon: “d-did i…hit…him…?”

*This question would soon be answered as the beetle wall drops, revealing kokabuterimon…the side of its face sliced open slightly as data pours down the side. Kokabuterimon touches the wound as Grademon hurriedly uses this moment to try and heal his wounds, able to regenerate the wireframe of his leg as kokabuterimon inspects the damage, once more speaking, though his calm voice is now cut through with genuine surprise, the prince impressed by how close his enemy was to ending him*

Kokabuterimon: “impressive…if i had moved like i was planning too, you would've struck me dead on, killing me. congrats, no one alive has ever seen me bleed…”

*grademon stands, leg now fully regenerated as he tends to his side next, his gaze focused on his wound*

Grademon: "I won't miss next time…trust me, i'll-....”

*he turns back to kokabuterimon, horror in his eyes as he sees his enemy now covered in golden light*

Kokabuterimon: “you seem to have missed my word play there, no one ALIVE has ever seen me bleed….”

*the golden glow grows brighter, kokabuterimon's body shifts, growing and twisting into a new form, its body finally deciding on what its body shall bee as the light dissipates, revealing…*

Blitzmon: “tonight i dine on dragon soup”

[What method of attack shall grademon take]

All out offense - “i struck him once and nearly killed him, one clean hit shou-”

Grademon: “GHA-!!!”

*Faster then he can think (or i can narrate), a punch lands directly in grademon's chest even while on guard. Blitzmon then starts lifting him up his arm still firmly planted in grademon's chest…*

Beetlemon: “IMMA PLANT ME A DUMBASS TREE!”

*...before overhead slamming him into the dirt, grademon dedigivolving to dorumon out of pure exhaustion and agony. Blitzmon stares down at his enemy, all composure and charm stripped away to reveal the predator underneath, ready to mawl its prey to death*

Blitzmon: “one down…one to go…”

*his gaze turns to loogarmon, the wolf waking up to the scene of the battlefield*

[Seems like we're unable to help them…may we hope for their safety in the next part…]

#1 Is this series just going to have episodic villains and stories the whole way without any sort of arc villain? I assume towards the end there will be some huge threat that requires more than 1 episode to beat. But I am talking like the mini arc villains that literally all other Digimon series gave us before we get as much as 30 episodes in. I'm impressed they managed to do it this way this long. Where's like the Devimon, Etemon type arcs from Adventure 1? Or even the Mienumon, Charismon types from App Monsters? If its just gonna be low stakes 1 episode or half episode type foes for all 60+ episodes, I'm not sure I'll end up having a high enough opinion of the series by the end. & it started off very promising in my mind.

#2 Why is it taking the MCs this long to stop calling the Digimon "hologram ghosts?" They literally know they are all Digimon from like the first few episodes. This is another thing I'm wondering if they will continue doing the rest of the way. Refer to them as hologram ghosts at the start of each episode and then later realise they are obviously just more Digimon. Its fine for the regular civilians to call them that, but I don't get why the MCs do it early on in basically every episode for 30 episodes now even amongst themselves.
