My new apartment has kind of an awkward empty kitchen wall. It was renovated with gray vinyl flooring that clashes pretty terribly with the rest of the wood as well although I’m not sure there’s anything that can be done about that. Any opinions and suggestions are welcome!

J’ai un appartement de deux pièces avec un salon d’environ 17m2. Récemment j’ai adopté une petite minette de 5 mois 🐈‍⬛ , entre son arbre et chat (ces trucs sont si hideux) et les protections sur les meubles, je trouve mon salon moche.

J’ai envie de réfléchir à une déco un peu différente à la rentrée, sans forcément tout changer mais en optimisant. Mes inspirations sont plutôt autour du mid-century et du japandi (je sais, je ne suis pas originale). J’aimerais quelque chose d’un peu plus épuré avec quelques belles pièces.

Cherche aussi une idée pour camoufler l’arbre à chat (paravent ?) tout en le laissant devant la fenêtre….

Actuellement je trouve mon salon un peu criard et avec trop d’objets entassés, mal cordonnés. Je trouve qu’il n’a pas vraiment de style (enfin, sans doute le mien ^^).

I’ve realized how important it is to have a space I love being in, and I can always imagine it, but can never quite put it together. How can I make my bedroom more cute and comfortable and “put together”? My style is maximalist/dopamine, but honestly I like a little bit of everything. ANY tips or ideas would be very appreciated! Room is 11.7 x 14.6.

Seeking suggestions for my absolute disaster of a kitchen. Important things to know:

• I have small kids - please excuse the mess 🫠
• NYC co-op. Assume absurdly inflated costs, timeline, and general level of inconvenience for even the most minor of renovations, so the more that can be accomplished via cosmetic adjustments, the better.
• Concrete walls. I would love to tear out that stupid pony wall bisecting the kitchen, but it’s not as simple as ripping into drywall.
• No outlets on the wall opposite the appliances/sink. Installing some is probably not in the cards as it would require opening up a wall that is, again, concrete!
• New stove and dishwasher, both in good shape.
• Old fridge and microwave/hood; probably old enough to drink, or at least drive.
• White cabinet with wood countertop is freestanding.
• All cabinetry surrounding the fridge was originally installed on the wall opposite the sink and stove. It was moved, poorly, by the previous owner.
• “Stone” backsplash and wall is actually a thin tile.

im moving into a smaller apartment in two weeks and im stuck trying to design my bedroom. some of my furniture is sentimental, so decluttering isn't much of an option. (unless its swapping my desk for something else.)

i don't have much preference on where my tv should go, thankfully, as im struggling to even find wall space for it. theres a lot of wall decor that isn't included in this drawing too. simply trying to get an idea of how i can position things so its not cramped.

We have taken out the carpet from our house. We can't afford to properly replace the stairs so will need to paint them, as they don't look great as exposed. We could stick on MDF oak veneer on the risers if we really wanted to.

What colour(s) are best for the walls, stairs, banisters, doors?

We are starting over in our den, buying this sectional. My husband wants a new recliner but he likes leather, power, etc... I told him he could get whatever he wants but I want it to look good... I don't know what color to get and I don't want it to look like an "old man" recliner....

I’ve refused to put curtains on that window because of the view, now I feel like I must change that rod and put up curtains. Curtains are not necessary for privacy. Should I:

Add a swag
Frame the window with orange curtains
Or redecorate hanging plants with colorful and terracota colored planters

Or any other ideas?

I've got this entrance area into the kitchen/living room behind the kitchen bar that I can't really use for sitting. Perching up high on stools in an entryway isn't exactly where I want to spend my time. So right now it functions more like a drop zone / cleaning / glass, trash / stuff-I-want-to-get-rid-of area, and it looks awful. Especially since I have to look at it all day, as this is the room I spend the most time in.

I was thinking of putting some kind of storage right behind it, same height and length as the kitchen countertop, but made of wood so there's some nice material there. I'm also thinking of removing this bar table thingy attached to the kitchen.

The dresser can be moved.

In an ideal world I'd just rip the bar out entirely and have cupboards along the wall instead, but it's a rental.

Curious if you folks have any nice ideas.

Hi! I'm moving into my new apartment soon and I can't figure out how to configure the living room/dining room space. The layout is so awkward and I have no ode where to put the furniture especially the tv. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! I've included pictures from each opposite wall. Across from the sliding door is the master bedroom. The big window is opposite the kitchen and island.

See the partitian between my bed and my roomie bed so my bed is in between and this is left side and there is same right side so I recieve lights and all and I hate that like zero privacy so I need something to increase the privacy

I don’t have a headboard so having the bed by the window was slightly uncomfortable. but it gave me more space. having the bed in the middle was the opposite problem. any sugge and general decor ideas?

Hello designers of Reddit, please hear my plea and answer my prayers!! Unfortunately, I am a fully grown woman still living in her teenage bedroom (so owned, but by my parents). Well, kind of. I shared a room right up until adulthood when I was finally allowed my own space, so most of my furniture & decorations are either Ikea (lovingly), hand-me-downs, or stuff I bought at anime conventions when I was a youngin. It doesn't reflect me at all and feels very sterile, because I was trying to mimic the 2020 clean anime-nerd aesthetic on TikTok way back in the day, but I haven't touched an anime in at least 3 years.

Suffice it to say, this room is not me. And now that it's becoming more and more apparent that I am not moving out anytime soon, I want to redesign the whole thing and take some risks for the sake of comfort and clawing my way out of depression. Sadly, my perfectionism is holding me back from taking a real risk, so I really need advice and suggestions to bring my vision to life.

The first three photos are, obviously, of my sad, sad room. Please ignore the mess; the covered thing is just a box and some medical stuff. Literally everything but the TV and closet can be moved, changed, painted, etc, etc. Two of them are taken in .5 for brevity, so the actual measurements are provided (as best I could) in the floorplan model I made. I live in the USA and it is in both inches & meters. And the final photo is a collage of (hopefully) real inspiration photos I found. I am unsure of the exact name or wording, but I imagine it's a faux/modern 70s feel with lots of dark wood, furs, warm lights, and color pop/contrast. I am a huge fan of spooky/horror/Halloween, but still want some flexibility to just be cozy and adjust for the season (like being able to make it Christmas-y without doing too much).

Important things to note are (in no particular order):

• ⁠The only current source of light is the desk lamp and the window.
• ⁠The bed is a queen, and the frame is definitely going to be replaced (it being the annoying sort of broken is what inspired me to redo my room). I would like the long side pulled away from the wall to make cleaning & sheet changing easier, but it seems to take up too much space elsewhere.
• ⁠I live in the desert, so please do not suggest anything that produces or stores unnecessary heat (like blankets and lights are a must, but curtains would probably bake and blind me more than anything else), or anything that provides good hiding spaces for spiders & scorpions.
• ⁠The bed must stay on that side of the room, though it can be moved and rotated. My door opens to a hallway facing the entire house and a window to the outside, so it's bad feng shui.
• ⁠I really want a seating area (preferably a 'nook'), as I currently spend too much time in my bed and it's really messing with my mental health. Still, I can't figure out how to fit it into the relatively small space without getting in the way of the closet or facing the door problem again (tho I do crack the door for more privacy without locking my pets out, so it can, ultimately, be put there).
• ⁠It's not shown, but I would love advice for closet organization, too. Currently, I have a dresser and hangers, and my shoes are just loose-leaf, so I know the basics of, like, a shoe rack or organizer. If you have any ideas that worked better for you, please let me know! It's only about 28 inches deep, so it's not as much space as it appears in the floor plan.
• ⁠And finally, the desk is probably the sacrifice that leaves the room, as it's only for storage and my gaming laptop right now. the bookshelf, bed, and nook are all more important.

Some nice things I'd like included:

• ⁠A poster rack. I may not be a huge anime nerd anymore, but I bought a lot of art at cons that now take up space in my closet and aren't exactly resellable. I also don't want to throw it though, because it's a lot of money down the drain for something i don't hate looking at.
• ⁠On that note, I also have a lot of pins and keychains I would like to display in an unobtrusive way, if anyone has any suggestions.
• ⁠I want a rug that's nice to lie on because I keep getting carpet burn while playing with my cats, but again, reference the scorpion hiding fear. And my elderly boy tends to have hairballs on my carpet, as it is his safe space too, so ease of cleaning is a huge bonus.
• ⁠A new wall color would be amazing. I am okay sacrificing heat-comfort for a dark tone like shown in most of the inspo pics. Wallpaper is also welcome, but most patterns scare me.
• ⁠Any fun/helpful additions or decorations you'd like to advocate for are also very welcome here. I really want to romanticize my life, and this feels like a good starting point.

You may still be wondering why I need advice, if I have a good idea of what I want. And the answer is, I truly have never gotten the chance to decorate a room. What little I have done was for the sake of functionality and resulted in the sterile, lifeless room that has, unintentionally, led to a worsening mental state. Sure, my personality peaks out in little ways, but only with things I bought on a whim. Intentional purchasing feels so daunting, and I truly don't understand how to construct a space that is both functional and comfortable. I know it's supposed to be a living, evolving thing, but I struggle to shop with that in mind and really want to reach, at the very least, a base I am happy with. That's part of why the holiday decorating appeals to me: it's easy to remember and buy fun decorations, rather than treating furniture and decorations as anything more than a passing glance. I always fall into the pitfall of seeing things I like, but not wanting to 'waste' money or risk overconsumption (ironic, I know) for something I can't visualize in my space. Which is fair, but again, my sad, lifeless room speaks for itself.

All that to say, I need a change. But I don't know how to change. I get it in the abstract, but applying it to my actual space feels very daunting, and I can't seem to bring the wants and needs in my head to a solid idea to even attempt to mimic. In case you skimmed over that point, I sort of want to use this to romanticize my life and give me a zest for the everyday again.

TLDR: I need bedroom advice for a desert home to make it feel more personable, with a sort of sea shanty/faux 70s vibe that can be decorated for the seasons. The space is a tad cramped for everything I'd like to incorporate (books, bed, nook, storage), so any tips on zoning/spacing are more than welcome. As well as decoration advice for things like the walls, bed, decor, etc, etc.

I just bought this couch off Facebook marketplace and I LOVE it so much but I’m struggling with figuring out the right rug color to go with it. I’ve accidentally curated a very Bahamas vacation home vibe here by trying to match the blue in the couch, and I think it needs something darker but I’m not sure what. My next thought is a dark teal because the couch has so many colors I don’t really want to add a new one in and teal would complement the light blue? The throw pillow will also not be staying I’m just waiting to replace until I figure out the rug situation.

The front room of my home is visible just as you walk in the front door (in the third photo I’m standing directly in front of the door facing in). I use it as my music studio but it’s lacking balance. It kinda just feels like a giant breezeway that you walk past to get to the main hallway. I want to make it a lot cozier so i use it more, as the current feng shui makes me avoid it for the most part. Mostly just needing some tips on re arranging the current furniture, but open to suggestions for decorations/replacing furniture etc

I have a full size bed, a dresser with tv on top, and was going to have chair for reading corner, or love seat in room but probably won’t fit.
