I have information for you! (Informative) The be nice / no jerkish behavior rule

I like the way u/Hobowhite put it, so I'll quote him verbatim here:

"As it states in the rules, we are a community made up of both mineral enthusiasts and spiritual users. It has literally been this way for over a decade, ever since this sub’s creation. Whether you collect because you believe in their abilities or because you like geology, you are all welcome to participate. You are not; however, allowed to bash others’ beliefs. Believe it or not, participating in this subreddit is a privilege, not a right, and civility and kindness is what is required in order to be active here. If you see something you don’t agree with, scroll past. We are all adults here. If you honestly can’t abide by this, there are MULTIPLE other subreddits you can join where spiritual discussions are prohibited. I have tried to be kind and lax with you guys and I feel you are all taking advantage of that, and are making members feel bad about themselves. From here on out, you will receive one warning to be civil. Upon the second violation, you will receive a 3 day ban to contemplate why you cannot follow incredibly simple rules. If a third violation occurs, you will be permanently banned and any attempt to circumnavigate said ban will result in a site wide ban from the reddit admins. To those of you who follow the rules and are welcoming and kind to all, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. To the malcontents and ne’er-do-wells, please stop being antagonizing jerks. It is not hard. "

The only changes I will be making to this rule is I will be a little less tolerant. I don't think someone needs 3 chances not to be a jerk. And it's difficult for us mods to track "warnings".

So, from now on, first offense will be a 3 day ban. 3 days isn't that long, and it's not going to ruin your life and will give you time to think about how you maybe could have said something differently.

Second offense, if you haven't learned after the first one how to treat people how you'd like to be treated, I think many people are not going to change their ways at this point, so the second offense will be a permanent ban.

NOW, if you feel you have been permanently banned unjustly, or by mistake, simply send a KIND and POLITE mod mail to appeal your ban. I'm not asking for apologies, I'm seeing if you can be civil. If you are, and your history warrants it, I can remove the permanent ban.

Being nice isn't hard, so this shouldn't be that difficult of a change.

Lets Discuss! 💭 Please report low-key, non Sunday ads

I am seeing some low-key ads posted on days other than Sunday. Please report these as you now have an active moderator who will take them down. Some of them try to hide it but I know there are plenty out there that can spot them. Please report and I will take care of it. Repeat offenders of the ad rule will be banned. We don't want this to become a spam marketplace.

Remember, ads are for SUNDAYS only!

Can you help me? (Advice wanted) Help with ID: Stone with both Chatoyancy and Play-of-Color?

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping to get some help identifying this stone. It shows a distinct cat's eye effect (chatoyancy) and displays subtle flashes of color, but only when it is tilted or moved in the light.

I actually found this in my mother-in-law's jewelry box. The box had been cleared of most valuables, and this was left behind among some old plastic and stainless steel earrings.

I’ve attached photos and the video in the comment. Does anyone have an idea what this could be? Any insights would be appreciated!

Can you help me? (Advice wanted) What material is this?

I know it's definitely dyed. It's seafoam green in person and shows obvious signs of dye. It was a free gift for me and I like the color so I don't mind lol. But it was marked as "emerald quartz," and I have a hard time believing it's either of those things 😂 it looks like mica? It has very reflective flat layered inclusions similar to lepidolite (but wrong color of course). Can anyone tell me what material this actually is?

I bought this crystal online and the seller wasn’t sure what it was. It’s set in Sterling silver. It has an olive green color with a rough surface. And only flashes of color on top not inside of the crystal.

As the title says, I found these at Goodwill (a secondhand store). I would love help identifying what stones they are and if they are dyed or natural. I am adding them to my personal collection :) Thank you!

I really love crystals that look freshly unearthed. I haven’t collected in a very long time, and just took my collection out of storage today after having moved a couple years ago. I’m curious to know what my collection could be worth!

Hi I thrifted these a while ago and thought they were just glass but just looked at them again and I’m thinking maybe not glass anymore. They ring very loud but it won’t let me add the video sadly.

Small bangle density 2.45

My Collection ✨🔮 A little bummed about my newest addition

I collect these gemstone trees and just purchased this. The craftsmanship is excellent, but i'm kind of disappointed with stones and had expected a better quality for the amount I paid for it.. Lapis lazuli is my favorite stone, this came all the way from vietnam. So i've been waiting and waiting and waiting.

I see at least some sodalite, and I don't know if these are black stones i'm seeing, I'll have to probably look at it better in the daylight, but i'm kind of annoyed, and I didn't want to wait to vent.

What do you think?

I bought it back in 2020 and it was described as moss agate. However I met someone recently that said it wasn't, and possibly a mix of something. It's peaked my interest so I was hoping someone wiser than I can shed some light? Tia x

Hi all I just made a post about finding crystals shops but I should’ve started off by asking what type of crystals are good for beginners to get? I’ve done a bit of research but want some suggestions and opinions as well from people with knowledge of crystals .

Hello all, I hope everyone’s having a good day. This is my first time posting in this thread. Anyways I was wondering what are some good websites that are reliable to get crystals or even possible shops in the ATL area.
