Deciding on yarn/Yarn help Should variegated yarn make this much of a visible pattern?

Have started a baby blanket using moss stitch and I fear this may look odd once finished. Saw a similar yarn with a different pattern and it’s looks much neater with the white color change.

Worried I should just frog now, would love to know your experience! Ty in advance

I'm a beginner! I found an antique alka seltzer bottle full of crochet hooks, and I don't know what some of them are for..? Or what size most of them are?

Please disregard the dust on my table, I swear I clean haha. So, there was a paper wrapped up in the bottle that says "boye" and copywrite 1984, most of the hooks have a boye stamp, but doesn't explain much else about them (size etc). I assume the owner of these hooks (jean, according to the bottle) was a doily maker because they're so tiny! Without having a stamp that says what size they are, how do I figure that out? And what are the odd ones for? I am more of a knitter than crocheter (it doesn't make as much sense to me☹️) so I assumed the like bent one was a cable needle? But is that something in crochet? And there are two like the one in the 2nd & 3rd pic, which looks like the other hooks but has ... no hook? I hope this is allowed, I am just so confused about the bizarre hooks more than anything haha!

Looking for suggestions Wedding venue lost my late grandmothers handmade crochet tablecloth. Can this ever be recreated?

Post image

My wedding venue lost a crocheted tablecloth that my late grandmother made by hand. She was Croatian, and she made this for me during the war. It is one of the only things I had left that she created with her own hands. I’m absolutely heartbroken.

It’s honestly put a cloud over what should have been one of the happiest memories of my life. I don’t know much about crochet, so I’m hoping someone here can tell me if it is even possible to ever recreate this from photos?

If this is possible, does anyone have recommendations for someone who specializes in recreating crochet pieces? Would I have to find someone to create the pattern first?

Any advice, recommendations, or even just pointing me in the right direction would mean so much. Thank you. ❤️

Wearable help My sweater feels like its on backwards no matter how I wear it

Post image

EDIT: Thank you everyone! I think I may leave this one as it is my first try and I don’t really feel like frogging so much to fix it. I will be smarter for the next one!

I finished my first pull over sweater. The collar looks like its the right size, and I even redid it and made it less tall, yet it feels like the sweater is pulling at my neck, like it’s on backwards, no matter what way I wear it. Do crochet sweaters usually feel like this?

How do I fix this? I'm sure when I block I can stretch it out fine but while I'm working, is it OK? Am I making a mistake with tension?

UPDATE YALL!! everyone who said a bigger hook was right. I usually use a 5-6 with chunky yarn, but realized this yarn was a gift, so I went to the craft store to see if there was a hook size I didn't have. tried a 10 and it works 😅😅😅 I never go above a 6 and don't own anything bigger so it didn't click ooooooppps but thank you all for your help!!!!

i've been crocheting for about 13 years, mostly self taught (thank you youtube & my mom!) so i don't have an expert to ask about this.
why does my chunky yarn bubble when i made granny squares? i've tried different starting numbers, singles vs doubles in the first magic ring, different size hooks, etc., but can't figure this out.

Problem with edges Crochet belt, finished, but keeps folding over. How do I fix this?

I'm a fairly seasoned crocheter

Cotton yarn, 4mm hook, Tunisian crochet

I can't think of a way to get the belt to lay flat, even after blocking it once. Does additional blocking help? Maybe adding a border around the whole thing?

Thanks!

Looking for suggestions What shows/movies have a crochet blanket to replicate?

I’m fairly new to crochet, I’ve been doing it on and off for the past year or two and it’s super fun! I find it easier for me to do repetitive patterns, so granny squares are right up my alley!

I’m looking to try the granny square blanket from Always Sunny in Philadelphia & perhaps the blanket from South Park’s Tegrity Farm episodes. I was wondering if there’s any other pieces of media with some crochet items to try to replicate!

Looking for suggestions Life Sized Furret - Yarn Type, Colors, and Pattern Recs?

Hello! My partner has been wanting the life-sized furret plush (nearly 6 ft long). But they are EXPENSIVE so I figured it would be a fun project to crochet for him instead. I was thinking of getting Chenille for the yarn but I'm unsure, especially bc chances are I will have to order it and I haven't done that before. I'm probably at an intermediate level? I can adjust patterns somewhat but not super well yet. I haven't made my own patterns either. I think this would be a straight forward pattern for the most part, since it is relatively consistent most of the way. Please give me advice on how to go about this!

Thank you so much!

Help to find a pattern Looking for a pattern for a 7 petal granny square (because I'm a potato who can't count to 8)

Okay I don't know how I didn't notice until the very end, but I totally screwed up a Sophie's Garden granny square pattern and only made 7 petals instead of 8. It's nuts 🤣

Bigger problem is that now the actual pattern is useless and I can't transform it into a square.

It was a ton of work and I find it gorgeous and I don't want to frog it, but adapt it to finish it.

I was thinking how to start squaring it up and that's why I started making these two new green "corners" (on the left here, where my stitch marker is) but I realize that I don't have the experience and knowledge to do this properly. I've only been doing crochet for a couple of months.

So I thought maybe I can ask you lovely community if you have a pattern for a 7 petal flower granny square that I could use to at least base my build up on?

I'll take other suggestions too but it has to end up square, it's my "one granny square per week until I have a blanket" personal challenge 😅

Thank you in advance!

To frog or not to frog Is there still hope in continuing my first filet crochet?

I might have overestimated my skills.

I found this beautiful pattern on pinterest and thought this is my moment to start filet crochet. I knew that anyone says to start small - well, my first row was 327 stitches.

It took me a week to get to the 9th row of 118. At first I thought I'm doing good, but now I think my tension wasn't steady enough. It looks like the first rows of mesh are smaller than the most recent one. I am not sure though, Maybe blocking will do its thing? It's also very wonky if I lay it flat on the ground and try stretching it a little.

I'm scared to waste months on this piece, if it will be all wonky in the end. I'm thinking of frogging it - but i'm not sure if I should restart, giving more attention to the tension, or if I just start with smaller pieces until I built more skill.

EDIT: just for information, I decided to do dc, ch 2 because I wanted a clearer contrast.

Deciding on yarn/Yarn help Substitute help for Lion Brand Pound of Love! ....

Post image

I'm Germany based and I can't get my hands on Lion Brand yarn but I want to make a Monarch Butterfly cardigan. (By Biyabimi)

I've been looking at drops yarns and on their ravelry, some people made this cardigan using drops paris. It looked great but a few people mentioned it turned out too heavy.

What do y'all suggest?

According to the gauge on drops paris it should fit but I'm also worried about the gaps between the stitches being too obvious.

Thank you in advanced

Post image

i just finished my first filet crochet project. i’d like to add a border, but the number of boxes (width) is a prime number. from my understanding, that means i would have to do a picot for every stitch…is that true? how else could i do it?

Hello! I’m wanting to make baby blankets for family members using the one my grandma made me as inspiration! However, i have no idea what pattern she used T-T I notice all the double crochets but I’m unsure about the chain sections, etc.

The blanket is 24 years old & I’ve tried looking at older patterns but haven’t lucked out yet. Any suggestions or ideas appreciated!!

Understanding a pattern Another gifted crochet kit from Michael's with a pattern I don't understand

Not a complete beginner, but I am bound to get confused at the implied steps on this written pattern that does not have a video tutorial anywhere online.

It is for a "Jack o Lantern Cappuccino". First step is Ch 25, work hdc in the next 24 ch. Ch 1, turn.

No problems there.

Rows 2-24. work in the BLO. ch 1. Turn.

Does not say what kind of stitches. Kind of looks like hdc in the picture. I assumed they were hdc. But to only ch 1 before the turn cause the stitches to be slanted so I just started doing sc.

Can anyone tell me what they're supposed to be.

The mane should be straight. I blocked it for 1 day in total and removed the pin, and 5 min after it was curling again :c
It’s multiple basic chains (10 chain, 9sc)

Understanding a pattern Working on the Lobelia Nesting Basket and can’t figure out where the stitches go

Thumbnail

I’ve been working on the Lobelia Nesting Basket by Gootie and have done my first row of the spike stitches (row 17). Trying to do the second row (row 18), I’m having trouble figuring out where to put the first sc in the row. Picture two has it in the immediate next space while picture 3 has it in the second space, which lines up with the pattern of skipping one sc for the next v-stitch. After this row is another row (row 19) of the spike stitches and I cannot for the life of me figure out where those go! I thought I had it right in the third picture but when moving to the next spike stitch row, I realized it’s just not lining up how it should. Where do these stitches go?

Amigurumi help Why is my color change veering to the right and how should I fix it?

Hello! I’m crocheting Gizmo from Gremlins for a friend’s birthday present. I’ve been working on making his body and I’m having a bit of trouble with the color change. The white of his chest is meant to narrow to a point at the middle, but for some reason the white seems to be veering to the right. I’m not entirely sure what I’ve done wrong so any and all suggestions are welcome. I’m going to have to frog it anyways because the torso is a bit too short.

How do I... I’m trying to do chainless sc, but somehow I think I’m messing it up?

As the title states, I’m not sure how to do the chainless single crochet foundation chain? Am I doing something wrong? Or is there an easier way for me to create this design without using the chainless sc? I feel like what I’m doing is not clean, looks off centered (I switched to a bigger needle and it’s still so tight). What should I do??
