Hey, I’m (F 23) a huge holiday/Christmas lover and I wanted to know what family traditions you guys have around Christmas! Other holiday traditions are welcome as well. My husband and I are going to start trying for children next year and I wanted to pick some traditions we can start with our kids! Can you tell I’ve been missing the fall/winter vibes lately? 🎄🎅🏼❄️☃️

Christmas was always a mixture of stress and excitement when I was a kid. The stress was because I think my parents left all the shopping till the last minute, and then spent too much, and also they fought a lot and all emotions were heightened during the holidays when everyone is supposed to be so happy. I’d like to make it different for my own family, but it’s hard! What do you do to make Christmas fun rather than stressful?

Found this guy at a thrift store for a good price and I just HAD to get him. My grandma has a massive Santa collection so I bought it for her-definitely has already boosted my Christmas spirit lol

We have a road trip planned for this December to experience a New England Christmas.

Starting with Woodstock, VT for Wassail Weekend, then a couple of nights in Mystic, CT, and ending with a couple nights in Stockbridge, MA at the Red Lion Inn.

Does anyone have any suggestions for vintage looking needlepoint stockings? I’m open to both premade or patterns. I’ve checked Etsy and just general internet scrolling with no luck. These pottery barn ones are probably closest to the style I’m looking for but not quite it.

I've been thinking for a while I want to put a Christmas tree in my bedroom. To anyone who's done that do you find it takes up too much space or would you say it's worth it? I'm really considering doing it this year because I always put up decorations and I redid my room this year and idk I feel it'd make me so happy

I have a 6 year old and a nearly 1.5 year old. My husband and I would love to plan a NYC Christmas Day trip (we live pretty close) for our girls that includes the Radio City show. I know my 6yo would love it but I worry about the little one.

So I've been an online English teacher (teaching English as a Second Language) for several years, which brings me to my question.

One of my Chinese students (she's about 16) moved to Houston with her mom last year. Typically, they don't celebrate either American or Chinese holidays. The other day, the mom said she wanted to talk about Christmas and how they wanted to start celebrating holidays, especially Christmas. She then asked which places (not too busy or too big) might be best for learning about Christmas... and not too cold. They're from Shanghai and now live in Houston, so something cooler than Houston. My first thought was Gatlinburg, but I also thought of Frankenmuth, MI. Mom also isn't comfortable driving too much, as she didn't drive in China, and she's been driving about a year here.

Any thoughts and help appreciated!

Hello I may totally be on the wrong reddit thread but I have a quick Christmas question. My husband and I recently had an argument due to money especially around Christmas time so i need some advice.🎄

I am very close with my my whole family, so normally for holidays, birthdays we are all celebrating. He has a great relationship with his 2 sisters but he sees them 2 a year, and they normally all do their own thing around holidays.​

So normally getting together with my family for holidays is what we do. That being said I grew up being taught how to budget money, and make it stretch as long as you can. He is still very upset that our first Christmas as Mr and Mrs (2021) we had budgeted out for Christmas and spent 1100.00 on presents. Sounds like a ton but we had it all set aside for that specific reason. And we were still able to pay bills, rent, groceries etc. So we were not strapped for cash at all. And we made 1100.00 stretch for 18 people we had in the family. I thought we did pretty good. It equals to about 61.00 per person. However my husband is mad, he keeps telling me how hard he works for his money, and how he should have the finally say where it goes. I thought we were doing pretty well with budgeting. This is something he has brought up in multiple arguments and has stated that next Christmas we are buying for 2 people only.

Since that Christmas we have scaled back quite a bit and don't even come close to that. I'm not saying I need to spend 1200.00 every Christmas by any means, and there has been 2 Christmas where I made cookie trays and baked goods for everyone. I'm just confused why this still bothers him. I have tried to talk it out with him and explain the situation, and break down the money etc, and it still gets brought up, again. And again like it's the first time.

As he is not used to budgeting Maybe I'm asking too much from him?? Idk, I thought we killed it and did awesome but his thoughts are different. Did we overspend on gifts??

It’s summer..but thoughts of Xmas are starting to creep in. Anyone else? It usually doesn’t start till end of Aug for me.
