My cat is around 6 weeks pregnant, and today I noticed a tiny stain/discharge from her vulva. She cleaned herself immediately, and it was gone when I checked again.

She's acting completely normal otherwise—eating well, drinking, active, and doesn't seem uncomfortable.

Has anyone experienced this with a pregnant cat? Is this something that can be normal during pregnancy, or should I contact my vet?

Any advice would be appreciated.

This gorgeous lady (I think) has been calling outside our neighbours window in the morning and hanging out throughout the day for about 3-4 weeks now, maybe even longer, as you can see shes got a collar so we were thinking it belonged to someone but its behaviour suggests otherwise.

we’ve already got two cats so we can’t volunteer to take her in, if we were to take it to the vets to check for a chip would we then be responsible for her if she didn’t have one? I’d hate to have to take a cat to a rescue centre though (we’re also moving in less than a week so time is SCARCE)

So I just had my kittens spayed and the vet gave me cones to put on them. Well, after a few hours, they got a little used to them but, 2 of them started squirming really hard and managed to get it down to their stomach (where they have their stitches) and it really hurt them and it felt awful seeing them like that as I tried to help them. I looked up other alternatives and I just want to get more opinions on onsies or other alternatives :/

I'm 36 years old and in the USA. Female Maine Coon. 4 months old not spayed yet.

We were at the vet when she started doing this. (I have a vid, but no way to post) When the vet came in I showed him the video and he said it could be from her losing a tooth. She's 4 months.

She has had major complications from her first rabies and distemper and is now doing half way ok. She's able to walk some, eating a tiny bit of food and going potty.
Has anyone seen their cat teeth grind before?
She's been in and out of the vet for 3 days now. I plan to take her back in the am for a drop off (for them to monitor all day) tomorrow morning. I was hoping to get some insight on this teeth grinding? I'm not ok. Please pray she's ok because I'm sure not. 😔 💔

I've had this cat for 3 weeks and it has peed on my bed and blankets 5 times. Its getting tiring cleaning everything. She is super shy but when I'm home alone with her she has gotten comfortable around me. I thought maybe its when I'm gone she's gets scared and pees but she just did it while I was in the room. I have used enzyme cleaners, spray repellant, litter box training spray and more. She uses her litterbox and i clean it as soon as she's done using it so its not dirty. She doesn't seem to be peeing outside it enough to be a UTI. I have a vet schedule this Friday but maybe someone here can help me out. Its getting very tiring to deal with. I think from what I have googled maybe she is just shy and trying to mix her scent. But if that's the case when will she stop?

hello, my 10 month old completely indoor male cat has started a weird thing since yesterday. he has been laying in his litter box. my cat is neutered, he was neutered 2 months ago.

i dont understand why he is doing this? he seems fine otherwise. he has his food, i give him wet food mixed with water so he gets hydrated. he is even playing with his toys when he wants to.

he has a usual napping spot, and last night he did not sleep there at all. he was in another room. however, i have caught him just lying in the litter a few times since yesterday. not for long tho, if i have to lure him out he usually comes out.

he also peed a decent amt this morning, normal sized clump.

i removed the lid, even then he went and sat inside for a few minutes.

i dont understand if this is something serious, because everything seems fine with him on the surface. just this one small thing.

also, i spoke to the vet and he cannot figure out what might be the issue. please help.

Hi all, 22M here. Long story short, about a month or two ago I noticed my 7yr old male cat, Harry, begin to overgroom around his belly and hind legs. He was spayed as a kitten and has been an indoor/outdoor cat for the past 3 or so years. I checked him for fleas and didn't see any, didn't notice any changes in behavior at the time either. As bad as it may sound, I decided to let this be to see if it would improve on its own. Shortly after I noticed this, I ended up having to go out of town for work for a little over 2 weeks and had my mom take care of him while I was gone. When I got back, the overgroomed areas were still affected and I noticed him acting a bit lethargic. That was about a week ago and since then he's been acting like that on and off, moving slower, perching on his paws instead of lying down, and sometimes even groaning in his sleep.

Today when I got home from work, he was sitting next to me while I was eating dinner and began perching again, this time groaning 3 times in the span of a minute and just acting sort of dazed. I immediately took him to the emergency vet and during the checkup they tested his urine as well as x-raying his bladder, both seemingly normal. The vet told me that the overgrooming was most likely due to fleas and administered some flea prevention medicine as well as an antibiotic, plus a dropper of pain medication. They also let me know that his temperature was 102.7°F, but said that may have been due to the stress of the trip. But he wasn't acting like he was in pain at all during the visit.

Once I left the vet, Harry started panting in his carrier but stopped once we reached the house. I have never once seen him pant and I've had him since he was born. Again, I really can't tell if this was just due to stress, a reaction to the antibiotic, or whatever this issue seems to be. He's currently asleep with me on my bed, he seems pretty knocked out but I've heard him groan a few times in his sleep. The vet recommended that I see how he does with the medication and antibiotic, and to bring him back if he still seems uncomfortable. I'm most likely going back tomorrow.

Has anyone had an experience similar to this? I've never experienced health issues with a pet before and fact that this has all popped up so quick really has me fearing the worst. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi all, adult in the US here and first time multi-pet owner. Vet is accessible and we can afford, havent contacted about this though.

I dont have a great video of the two but we just got a new 4 year old spayed female at the end of June. Since my husband and I have adopted her, we have done the slow intro with feedings on either sides of a closed door and recently we have been doing more baby gate interactions with treats and play. When there is a barrier the cats never have a problem.

As soon as our four year old neutered male (former stray, been indoor only for 2 years) is in the same room as her, all he wants to do is chase her and dominate her by scuffing her neck. I dont know what else he wants to do because i usually separate them when that happens. The chasing looks very distressing to her. She doesnt do it every time, but she has hissed at him when he scruffs her and she she does run away from him. Again, when there is a barrier they are fine and they will sit on either side close to the barrier taking treats, but he does try to jump the gate to get to her.

We have stepped back and tried to do more scent swapping where he is confined to her safe room and she roams, she is happy with this and he yowls. Otherwise they have been eating and using the litterbox well. We do also have a feliway diffuser in the safe room, the one that is supposed to cover multicat interactions and individual behavior. I just moved it into our bedroom tonight to hopefully have him exposed to it more.

I know its only been 3 weeks so I should just try and give it more time, but im just afraid this wont be in eithers best interest to continue and we would have to bring her back to the adoption place (this would be a literal nightmare worst case scenario for us). We adore her and have already grown attached. He is our baby boy, our first pet as a couple. Any advice to make this integration more successful would be appreciated.

My baby is currently 4 years old , male, neutered and I have been looking into the nutritional value in his daily diet, he is kinda overweight at the time. He grew up only eating boiled fish and chicken breast but since the start of this year he suddenly refused to eat both of them (he used to go bananas for those).

I have been letting him eat only wet food (he only eats nekko gravy pouch) for around maybe 2 months, but the vet informed me that dry food has more nutrional value and it's better for his overall health (he drinks alot of water so I am generally not concerned about his kidney problem). However, I have bought both Royal Canin Kitten and Mom&Baby, and so far he has actively refused those dry food.

Hi all, hope youre doing good. I have a question about my kitten 4months old.

When we got him home the first time, we took the baby kitten for a bath as he was born at a farm and smelled like the chicken coop where his mama was chilling and breastfeeding them.

While bathing him, i saw that his ears were FULL of chicken shit, sand and dirt. Looked like somebody shoved that in there on purpose..it looked that bad! Anyway we tried to clean them and he held still. Got most of it out but stopped to not irritate his ears. After that they looked pretty clean in comparison, but from time to time it builds up? not sure.

Question: How to clean them properly or are there any device/liquids to help this?

My 3/yo female cat is currently being taken care of by a good friend of mine who has taken care of her many times before. She sent me this cute photo of her today (first slide) but when I zoomed in on her eyes, alarm bells began to ring.

I called her and expressed my worry and she said she just caught the photo after she blinked or something. She sent over the other two photos and it’s definitely not as prominent but they still look off to me. Should I be worried?

I’m out of town by she can be taken to the vet if truly needed. She has herpes flare ups in her eyes occasionally, due to stress but it has never looked like this.

So a while back I bought a sifting litter box, it wasn’t enclosed, and attempted to transition my cat to pine pellets didn’t go so well as she wouldn’t poop and started having diarrhea. I took her to the vet and they said she was fine so I decided maybe I’d just have to stick with clay.

I mixed her old clay litter into the sifting box. She would pee but wouldn’t poop still. So I used her old litter box that is enclosed with a cover.

I used a mix of her litter and pine pellets in the old litter box and she pooped fine in it. I tried having both boxes out and I noticed she would sometimes pee in the sifting box but wouldn’t poop in it.

I’d prefer she use the sifting box as its steel which is much more easier to clean and is just more environmentally friendly, what should I do?

It’s been roughly a six-eight month journey, and I need help.

My kitty, 2FS, recently developed allergies to SOMETHING… I have been bringing her to the vet for months with every flare-up.

Initially, the vet went straight to “food allergies”, so we’ve been on a strict hypoallergenic prescription (pricey) diet with no treaties. But then the flare-ups kept happening.
Fast forward to a few hundred dollars in vet visits and steroids, I finally had enough and requested skin biopsies and bloodwork.. after an EVEN MORE expensive vet procedure for both biopsy and bloodwork, it turns out she has skin allergies… or something along the lines of “it’s something irritating her skin that’s causing flare-ups”.
Vet insisted on staying on strict diet, gave us both steroids and “A-topica For Cats” as a daily treatment (8lb dose for… forever).
We’ve been consistent with the meds(we have a routine down and everything.. before bed) and diet, and within the last week she’s begun to itch again. To the point we noticed she got a spot on her right-lower jaw itched a little raw. We put the cone on her and kept the area clean and maintained. Today, I noticed the healing and took her cone off at lunch, and when I got home I saw the cone on her again. When asked, my boyfriend said she got next to her eye. So I looked at her and did notice a little bit of purple swelling and went “okay, I’ll call the vet tomorrow and figure it out”.
Right as we’re off to bed, we go to give her the nightly dose of meds (A-topica) and I notice the bit more significant swelling and some green goo in her eye. Great, it’s infected. So we took pictures, I sent them to my vet and will be calling first thing in the morning.

I’m here, right now, so frustrated and crying over this because I feel as though I’m failing my baby. The six to eight months (it’s been going on so long idk the time frame clearly) my poor girl has depressingly lived in the stupid cone off-and-on to stop herself from itching her face, being stressed into the vets and medications, and eating flavorless vet-prescribed food just for it to keep happening. She’s only two. I just want her to be healthy and happy and I feel so bad for her.

I’ve analyzed and went over EVERY possible factor—could she have developed allergies to the dogs? Is it her cat litter? Is there something in the house? Could it be something in the water? Could there be something my boyfriend touches on a daily at his maintenance job that he gets on her when he picks her up?… is it me? My perfume? My shampoo? Our detergent for clothing?

I’m literally at a loss and I just don’t know where to go from here.

My “next step” is the litter. I know a lot of places are changing formulas, and I’ve been using the same “Purina Tidy Cats” for her whole life… maybe this is the problem?

I will also be looking into a “not-so-standard” litter pan—because maybe the plastic one is also contributing.

I’ve been doing a lot of research, but I’m having difficulties navigating what is actually a good litter for a kitty with skin allergies.
I cannot use walnut-based litters, because I am allergic to walnuts.
I keep coming upon “Boxie Cat”—and of course it seems appealing, the “hypoallergenic”, “99% dust free” and the “natural ingredients”… specifically the “Gently Scented or Unscented” versions.
The reviews are so mixed with literally every cat litter, even Boxie Cat, that it worries that I’ll be adding fuel to her allergy fire.

I guess I’m hoping SOMEONE here has a kitty with similar issues and litter recommendations.

I need help. I feel so helpless not being able to keep her from flaring-up… and ruining her life with the cone. I was really hoping the meds would just make things better for us all, and idk anymore. I’m at a complete loss.

(I want to add, that the thought of giving her up was and is never an option)

Edit: sorry guys, she’s never had a booger like this before and she’s my entire life so I just panicked. I got it out alright and she’s definitely having a time running around and playing. Sorry 😭

About a month ago she had a moderate amount of bright red blood in her stool. A fecal sample showed a bacterial infection, which was treated with antibiotics. The bleeding resolved after treatment (for about 3 weeks)but tonight it happened again.

Since then she’s had a decreased appetite. She still eats every day (an appetite stimulant helps), but definitely less than she used to.

Despite that, she’s maintained or even gained a little weight and is otherwise acting completely normal; playing, running around, and acting like herself.
Blood work and abdominal X-rays have both been normal.

My other cat also had a fecal sample that was clear, but he developed diarrhea today, so now I’m wondering if there could be something infectious going around or if it’s just a coincidence since her symptoms started weeks before his.

I’m calling my vet first thing tomorrow, but I’m really worried. Has anyone had a young cat with a similar history? What did it end up being?

hi pals- reaching out for some advice

we have a 12 year old fixed Burmese, she is a perfect healthy angel, bar one strange habit she just can’t kick
for some reason. she will lick and chew at this one specific part of her stomach until there is no hair and it’s cracked and weeping and bleeding. she’s been doing this for several years, we have seen several different vets about it, done the full works (bloods, x-rays, ultrasounds, countless physical exams, change in diet, extra playtime- genuinely anything we could think of, we’ve tried) every single vet we’ve seen has been very satisfied with her health. she will sometimes stop randomly and not do it again for several months and it some cases, up to a year, but she’s back on her bullshit again now and i just don’t know what to do. it looks so sore!!! we have a fully body post surgery recovery suit on the way to try and get her to stop doing it but it’s only a temporary fix. has anyone experienced anything similar? any tips would be highly appreciated. pics of the gremlin herself and the wounds in question💀🫪

Main issue: I’m a minor and 3 days ago, my cat vomited 2 times. He starts meowing loudly and meowing in odd ways around 30 seconds before he vomits. I’m not sure about the first vomit, but the second vomit had cat food and some hair in it. The vomit was frothy on vomit number 3. His gums are pink [saw this an hour ago but I was only lucky enough to check, now he refuses] his ears are cool and his breathing tested around 20 minutes ago was 32 breaths per minute [i tested this today]. He seems to have less energy than usual but I can’t tell if I’m overanalysing. I told AI this [don’t judge i dont really have a choice], and it told me to not give any food to my cat, so I blocked the food [he doesnt seem to be wanting to eat anyways]. I calculated his breaths per minute [i asked ai this so might be inaccurate] and it showed that he was breathing 32 breaths per minute.

Yesterday night, I asked my parents if we could go to the vet and their point was that he just has a hairball and is struggling to get it out and that he’s also vomiting other things along with the hairball. But i’m still seriously concerned and I have a feeling that my parents will get mad if I ask if we could go to the vet again, since when they asked me why the cat food was covered with a lid, they got mad. I don’t really get why we can’t go to the vet, and I think vomiting 3 times over 3 days is something worthy of getting checked out.

I'm so worried about our girl. She's 14, and has always been healthy. The last week she hasn't been herself, not meowing, hiding, not drinking.

She saw the vet today, and they took some blood work, waiting to get that back. Said she was really dehydrated so I'm trying to get a urine at home, but she's not drinking or peeing. They did try to give her fluids, but she was so spicy they only gave her half because they didn't want to stress her out more.

She's eating her wet food, but I have to take her from her hiding spot and put her down right beside it. She is ignoring the water. Wanders in circles a bit looking confused, then goes back to her spot.

I'm so worried about her, she's lost a fair bit of weight, and is so sleepy. Is there a way I can help her get fluids in tonight?
