I've just broken my second high capacity plastic bottle as it was dropped while full and now I'm wanting to find a bottle that's both high capacity and metal or high strength. I've looked through the posts on here and haven't been able to find something that matches this in my country (australia). Yeti has the capacity, but not the lid unless i get the giant gallon bottle which is too big. Ideally closer to 2l capacity, if its a barrel, a handle built into its design would be ideal but that's probably closer to those 3l sizes

I have a trip to china coming and, wanted to know what BIFL items people bought while there.

We have a plastic toilet seat, nothing fancy. DH tells me not to sit on the lid since not made for that. After googling, I found out he is correct. It is 2026 so is there a toilet seat that will withstand the lid being used as a seat? I can't be the only consumer who needs this! Due to small size of bathroom, I must sit down to put on eye makeup. Willing to pay more for something that will last or any other tips!

I had my first washer and dryer for ages. They started crapping out at the start of covid and so I panicked and replaced them, because, germs. I had to leave them when I moved.

The house I'm in has nightmare Samsung smart washer and dryer, without the smart toggled on. I hate these things so much. Very throttled on water, heat, time, etc. And they play a stupid electronic song at the end of each cycle. It's such a troll.​​

I'm looking to purchase a washer/dryer that let's me decide water level, temperature, duration, has a big load capacity, is not *"smart"*, and will last.

But, after looking around, this seems as likely as finding a unicorn. Any suggestions?

We got this ByteFree BF-55ODTV 55" outdoor TV a couple years back for the backyard patio. I was skeptical at first because a lot of "weatherproof" stuff ends up failing after one season, but this one has held up better than expected.

It's been through heavy rain, snow, 100+ degree summers, and even a few dust storms. The picture is still bright and sharp even in direct afternoon sun no washing out like cheaper screens. We use it almost every weekend for sports, movies with the kids, or just background while grilling. Google TV works fine, no lag issues after all this time.

Mount is solid, no rust or corrosion showing. If you're debating an outdoor setup that won't need replacing every couple years, this one's worth considering. Paid around the $1,500 mark and zero regrets so far.

I'm looking for an alternative to the Zoji VE line (water boiler with vacuum sealed tank to reduce energy consumption) since the Zoji ones are lined with teflon.

Any recs for one with a stainless steel tank? Seems like Tiger used to make a vacuum one but they dont anymore.

For people who have washed cooling-oriented sheets weekly for at least a year, which part failed first: the fitted-sheet elastic, the seams, the surface, or the sizing?

Looking for reasonably priced satin/silk sheets that don’t pill. We have three dogs who shed who sleep in our bed (my husband wants them in the bed). My husband is mildly allergic and cotton sheets hold the hair which makes his allergies flair up (red eyes, runny nose, etc.). We’ve started using satin sheets and pillowcases which the dog hair doesn’t stick to, and allergies have been much better! However, we got 2 sets from Amazon about 6 months ago (satin polyester), and they’re pilling everywhere. We typically machine wash sheets once a week and alternate the sheet sets (i.e., wash set 1 and put set 2 on the bed).

Any recommendations on a better quality that won’t break the bank and will also last a while? The Amazon ones were about $50 a piece, so not really cheap if we have to buy every 6 months.

i’m currently shopping around for a new carry on hardshell, and I am looking for recommendations on the best durable luggage that won’t scuff easily.

I ussually love the clean look of modern hardside suitcases, but I am skeptical about my gear looking totally trashed after a single flight.

Smooth/Matte Finishes (Like monos or away) or textured Finishes (Like level8 or samsonite freeform): I've read that bags with a micro diamond or textured matte pattern diffuse light better, which hides micro scratches and rubs from airline handling.

I’m willing to spend around $150 to $300 for a solid investment piece that can survive being gate checked on tight regional flights without looking completely destroyed.

what specific brands or shell textures actually resist deep scratches and stay clean over time? Should I stick to darker colors, or is there a specific material I should be looking for?

Unfortunately I need more cups because the last one broke and I don't trust or like plastic. I've also heard the old soviet facted glass cups are tough. Are these the same or better quality?

When i was a broke student i always bought the cheapest version of everything. It felt like i was saving money but i kept replacing the same stuff over and over .

Electric shavers were the worst. I have a thick beard and the cheap ones would either stop cutting properly or break after a few months. At one point i had a drawer full of dead shavers.

What was the purchase that made you think, ' I would rather pay more once than keep buying the cheap option'?

If I run my finger nail in the notch in the rim of the lid, I can feel the difference in height.

Will this impact the performance and long term use of the pot? Or am I being overly concerned?

So my wife's birthday is coming up soon and I was wondering if I can get some recommendations as to which curling iron to get her. Her last one broke recently and I know she's been looking them online but I haven't figured out which one she likes. So with that said I have come here to ask for help from the experts on bifl because I want this one to last her a lot longer than the previous one.

Replacing the sleds today. I have had the original pair for 5 years, wore them heavily first four of the five years with last year spending most of the time on the rack. Worth $210 ??? Ehhhhh hard to say but I’ve done it twice now. I don’t think footwear is meant to last.

Sent to cobblers direct at year three and in my opinion they made the shoes worse. I would not recommend sending sabahs to cobblers direct under any circumstance. They came back with a half glued insole, and a chalky new bottom that wore out quickly.

Despite my cobblers direct complaints, these are great shoes, which prompted my second purchase. If I get another five years out of them, I’ll most likely buy a third.

I would love a stylish beige sofa, L shaped and slightly bigger BUT also easy to clean (not sure if this even exists haha). I am a clumsy person but I want a beige sofa for the living room as it’s quite a dark room…

Going to have a look around some sofa shops and would love some potential online recommendations. I love some of the sofas on Dusk/Daals however worried about the cleaning of these!

I absolutely hate cutting vegetables. I know everyone says just get a sharp knife but I genuinely don't enjoy prep work and it makes me avoid cooking.

I'm looking for a really good mandoline/vegetable chopper that can handle multiple tasks dicing, shredding, slicing, julienne. The blades need to be sharp, like able to slice through ripe tomatoes without crushing them.

I'm okay spending more if it's genuinely worth it and durable. Any recommendations?

I’ve built up a pretty big mug collection over the years and I’m always looking for new ones that actually feel good to drink from.

I’ve also picked up a few from local ceramic shops and some random ones from bigger stores, but a lot of those ended up chipping or just feeling cheap after a while.

I'm from the UK and I'm looking to finally invest in a decent suitcase instead of buying cheap ones every few years.

I'm off to Punta Cana from 19th–26th August, but I want this to be a suitcase I can use for years on future holidays as well. I'm not sure whether I should get a medium or large as I do have a habit of overpacking.

I've had a look through this subreddit and keep seeing Travelpro, Briggs & Riley (sadly out of my budget), Samsonite and Antler recommended.

My budget is around £200 (I may be able to stretch it a little with a work discount if it's really worth it).

What I'm looking for:

• 4 smooth spinner wheels
• Sturdy telescopic handle
• Easy to pack with good organisation
• Durable enough to survive years of airport baggage handling
• Good customer service
• Ideally a genuine lifetime warranty, not one with loads of loopholes

I'm also torn between hard shell or soft shell. I'd rather spend a bit more now and buy something that'll last 10–20 years than keep replacing cheaper cases.

Hey all. New here. I recently switched to WFH (big relief lmao) and currently redesigning my whole home office setup. My chair is the only weak link in the whole setup lol. It's comfortable, but I start getting back aches if I sit on it longer than 5-6 hrs. It's a straight back chair, not the ergonomic one with the spine supporting bend. I think I need to get this kinda spine supporting chair to avoid back pain. What do you guys recommend? Help me out :)

Also what else does matter in an ergonomic chair apart from back support? Those who upgraded their workspace recently, drop some words of wisdom :)
