What dose this verse means to you?

I am agnostic, but i enjoy reading the Bible as a place to learn from... as a soilder in the army and combat athlete what this verse means to me is:

Its a reminder that if I decide to pick up arms and go to combat i will die, and that what I am fighting for should be something that I truly belive in, as I will be accepting death.

I could be fighting for my family, my friends, my country, or even strangers...

I use the NKJV as my main bible, but also enjoy the ESV.

In the NKJV the above verse reads "Uphold my steps in Your paths, that my footsteps may not slip." The reading in the KJV is obviously similar.

The ESV reads "My steps have held fast to your paths; my feet have not slipped." Similar readings appear in most other translations (NASB, NKJV, CSB, etc.)

One translation is asking for help to stay on the path, while the other declares that they have not strayed from the path. This seems like a serious difference. Is one more accurate than the other or are they just the product of different translation methods?

Just a quick question, I can’t seem to find if this was a water fast or a dry fast. Obviously for any mere human 40 days without water is impossible, but it never mentions water to the best of my knowledge.

Lets take a look at the future prophesy in Daniel 7: 24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. 25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. 26 But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end. 

The apostles ask Jesus to tell them the sign of His second coming

And as he sat upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.  All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. 10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. (St. Matthew 24: 3-14) 

After the Apostles asked Jesus the sign of His coming and the end of the world (as we know it), He warns them of false prophets that will come in His name. These wolves in sheep’s clothing run rampant throughout the earth, giving the un-learned a false sense of security. They have their blind flocks thinking that, faith only will get them life eternal. One must realize that, this life is an exercise and what we do in it will echo in eternity. After the Lord admonished His apostles, He gave them signs that will come to past in our generation. Take a look at the 15th verse!

When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: (St. Matthew 24: 15-16) When the abomination of desolation is seen, the Lord states “flee into the mountains.”

Why?

For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. (St. Matthew 24: 21-22) 

Those Ten horn are Ten European Nations growing as we speak. Let’s pick this up in Revelation 13:4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? 5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. 6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. 7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. 8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Who are the Saints?….”Here is the patience of the saints; here are they that keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus" (Revelation 14:12). 

So some people believe they are going to be rapture up to heaven at this time during the great tribulation, and we see the Saints caught up in war with the dragon, who we know is the abomination of desolation man, with his army, during the great tribulation time. 

Hi, i’m 15 and trying to better understand the Bible! I’ve tried quite a few translations (esv, csb, nkjv) and resources like enduring word, but I still struggle with some of the language and wording. i also have some big gaps in my education which i think contribute to finding certain words and passages difficult to understand. Does anyone have any tips, websites, YouTube channels, study methods, or other resources that helped them better understand the Bible?

So typically when I think of the apostles from Scripture, I think of the Twelve plus Matthias and Paul. However, Scripture also calls Barnabas an apostle (Acts 14:14), and the Greek word απόστολος and related roots are used to describe other individuals throughout the NT. Paul considered the apostleship a calling of Christ Himself (1 Cor 1:1), but obviously Christ can call who He wants to do what He wants.

Given all of that, what should our understanding of the biblical apostleship be? How far does the calling go, and what are the signifiers of an apostle in the NT?

When the bible says salvation is free is it truly free or did paul lie?

This verse reminds me that God is not simply looking for outward actions or religious routines. He desires a heart that is willing to seek His wisdom, trust His Word, and walk in obedience.

In a world that celebrates success and knowledge, Scripture teaches that true wisdom begins with a heart surrendered to God. A wise heart brings joy to our Heavenly Father and leads us into a life of peace, purpose, and hope.

May God give us hearts that are humble, teachable, and faithful to Him every day.

The age-old question… I’m attempting to grow closer in my walk with Christ and really begin reading my Bible more. I have an ESV military Bible, Thompson chain KJV, a standard gift Bible KJV, and a NKJV gift Bible - both KJV have been gifted to me, one after I got saved and the other when I first started attending church (before being saved). The NKJV came when I was looking for a more modern English translation and my wife really wanted me to stay with the sentiments of the KJV.

But really, I’m not sure what I should use. The church I attend is a KJV preaching church, but everything I see here is mixed on the merits of KJV vs other translations for a wide range of (often conflicting) reasons.

I guess what I’m ultimately looking for is general thoughts for every day reading and study, the merits of one translation over another, that kind of thing. I think I want to stay true to word-for-word translation. I’m not even emtirely sure why one might want a thought-for-thought or paraphrased text (no judgments, I say this more out of not understanding).

Matthew ch7, Vs 13 & 14 Jesus uses the word strait. I’ve never noticed this before- as I am trying to get closer to GOD. In my studying of these verses, I don’t understand why if God is referring to water, and himself being the gate.

Also, if he is the gate, then in verse 14, why does he describe the gate being the strait?

Am I over analyzing this? I have never been confused about these verses until today.

Jesus says in Luke 14:25-33 And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them, (26) If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and

mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. (27) And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. (28) For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have [sufficient] to finish it? (29) Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish [it], all that behold [it] begin to mock him, (30) Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish. (31) Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand? (32) Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace. (33) So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

Jesus says put no one and nothing before God: Not your mother, father, sister, brother, friend or yourself.

Paul says in 2 Timothy 4:1-5 I charge [thee] therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; (2) Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. (3) For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; (4) And they shall turn away [their] ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. (5) But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

We are supposed to argue the Bible with patience against false doctrine (lies), using the Word of God, not our opinion. To repent means to turn from our sinful ways and start obeying God's law. The water baptism signifies the washing away of our past sins. After repenting and being baptized in the name of Jesus it would be foolish for us to turn around and willingly break God's commandments. If we make an honest mistake Jesus can help us, but if we sin willingly,  after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, look out! "...there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation..." (Hebrews 10:26-27). When Jesus died only the sacrificial law was done away with, alone with Leviticus priesthood.  

I'm 15 and have been raised in a Christian family my entire life. I always believed in Jesus for sure, but I don't think I was ever taking it the most serious. That was proven to me last year. Shortly after escaping some bad habits in my life, I realized how little I had been relying on God throughout my life and how I had been astray the whole time. So in search of Him, I decided to begin reading the entire Bible. Specifically NLT. I began on October 12 2025, and as of today July 20 2026, I finished Jude, leaving just Revelation.

Every day, I would read for a minimum of 10 minutes, and then allow myself to go for longer if I was up to it. If I missed a day, I would add an extra 10 minutes to the minimum for the next day.

I can definitely say that reading it all the way through has benefited me greatly. I feel like I actually have a relationship with God now, something I kind of lacked before. He's constantly on my mind now and I wouldn't change that for anything. I've seen the before and after take place in my life.

Now being nearly finished, it got me wondering what is this like for other people. So if you have read the entire Bible, what was your experience with it, what drove you to do so, and how long did it take? ^v^

I want to read my Bible but I’ve learned to try and look at it from a view that’s more historical and critical and I want to follow it and read it but idk if I can do that from a historical critical view for example I want to open up to John tonight and read and believe what it says or what it teaches I want to apply those as their said but idk if I can do that from this view

I used to go to this church with my dad and step mom but when I was around 15 they started going without me. At the time it didn't bother me but looking back on it, it does bother me. I'm 27. I went to church once on my vacation in Tennessee and loved it.

2. the less we count on them within, the more alarming the hidden cause of torment seems."

Hello everyone,
I have a few questions, and I would really appreciate your advice.
I truly believe that Jesus is the only way and that He died for our sins. I also believe that one day He will return. Because of that, I want to live for God.
But I keep struggling with the same sins over and over again.
I struggle with lust every single day. In the morning and at night I get these strong urges that feel almost impossible to resist.
I also smoke, and I’ve tried to quit many times, but I keep falling back into it.
I’m trying to stop swearing.
I’ve tried fasting, but I can’t seem to stick with it.
People often say, “Give your life to Jesus,” but I don’t really know what that looks like in practice. How do you actually do that?
How do I pray for these struggles to stop? How do I grow closer to God? How do I truly love Him with all my heart?
I didn’t grow up in a Christian family, and no one around me is Catholic. I feel like I’m trying to figure this out on my own, and it’s really hard.
If anyone has gone through something similar or has any advice, Bible verses, or encouragement, I would be very grateful.

THE TWO WITNESSES

It just dawned on me that the book of Zechariah and the Transfiguration passage identify exactly who are the Two Witnesses spoken of in Revelation.

Revelation 11:3–4
3 And I will appoint my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.” 4 They are “the two olive trees” and the two lampstands, and “they stand before the Lord of the earth.”

The Golden Lampstand and Olive Trees (Zechariah 4:1-7)
4 And the angel who was speaking with me came back and awakened me, like a man who is awakened out of his sleep. 2 He said to me, “What do you see?” I said, “I see, and behold, a [a]lampstand all of gold, with its bowl [for oil] on the top of it and its seven lamps on it with seven spouts belonging to each of the lamps which are on the top of it. 3 And there are two olive trees by it, one on the right side of the bowl and the other on its left side [supplying it continuously with oil].”4 So I asked the angel who was speaking with me, “What are these, my lord?” 5 Then the angel who was speaking with me answered me, “Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, my lord.” 6 Then he said to me, “This [continuous supply of oil] is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel [prince of Judah], saying, ‘Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit [of whom the oil is a symbol],’ says the Lord of hosts. 7 ‘What are you, O great mountain [of obstacles]? Before Zerubbabel [who will rebuild the temple] you will become a plain (insignificant)! And he will bring out the capstone [of the new temple] with loud shouts of “Grace, grace to it!”’”

The Transfiguration
28Now about eight days after these sayings he took with him Peter and John and James and went up on the mountain to pray.
29And as he was praying, the appearance of his face was altered, and his clothing became dazzling white.
30And behold, two men were talking with him, Moses and Elijah,
31who appeared in glory and spoke of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.
32Now Peter and those who were with him were heavy with sleep, but when they became fully awake they saw his glory and the two men who stood with him.
33And as the men were parting from him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good that we are here. Let us make three tents, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah”—not knowing what he said.
34As he was saying these things, a cloud came and overshadowed them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud.
35And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, my Chosen One; listen to him!”
36And when the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. And they kept silent and told no one in those days anything of what they had seen.

So according to Zechariah, the two olive trees continuously supply the oil, which represents the Holy Spirit, to the two lampstands that symbolize the Two Witnesses. Therefore, the olive trees represent the Old and the New Covenants which continuously supply the Holy Spirit to the Two Witnesses, one of which is from the Old Testament and the other from the New Testament.

While Moses represents Torah the Law, the Apostle John represents the Prophets from the New Testament and is the one who was literally inspired by Messiah Himself to write Revelation!

Therefore, I conclude that the Two Witnesses must be Moses and the Apostle John, and both were at the Transfiguration. Elijah was there too because at that time, he was the sole Witness for the Prophets of the Old Testament, while the Apostle John had yet to become the Witness for the Prophets of the New Testament, and he is the one who brings “out the capstone [of the new temple] with loud shouts of “Grace, grace to it!”’”

Has anybody else come to this conclusion? Please let me know your thoughts.
