Can I bring my own umbrella or tent to the beaches?

I know this may sound silly but I’ll be visiting for the 5th time in September and never seen anyone have their own umbrellas or tents okay the beaches. I only ever see the ones you can rent so I’m wondering if it’s allowed. Beaches are public so I know this may be a stupid question!

Hi guys - family of 4, going on vacation in Barbados for 7 days staying at a villa in Royal Westmoreland. Looking for a chef/cook that can prepare most of the meals for those days. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and snacks in between. Do you know any good options?

Foreign Workers: My Experience with Barbados Fast Print (Evidence Available)

I am sharing my personal experience with Barbados Fast Print to warn other foreign workers before they accept a job offer.

I was recruited from Morocco together with another worker. After arriving in the Caribbean, my colleague was sent to Grenada while I remained in Barbados.

According to my experience:

  • I was pressured to start working before my work permit was finalized.
  • I was repeatedly asked to wait while my immigration paperwork was delayed.
  • I was pressured to sign documents and act as a witness for paperwork that I did not fully understand.
  • The accommodation provided was overcrowded, with several workers sharing the same house.
  • I was not paid all the wages I believe I earned.
  • I was not provided with my return ticket to Morocco as I expected.
  • During my stay, I observed additional foreign workers being recruited and brought to Barbados under similar arrangements.

I have contracts, WhatsApp messages, emails, photographs, and other documents supporting my personal account. I am willing to provide this evidence to the relevant authorities if requested.

I am posting here to ask:

  • Has anyone else worked for Barbados Fast Print?
  • Has anyone experienced similar problems in Barbados or Grenada?
  • Are there other workers who would be willing to share their experiences?

If you have had a similar experience, please comment below or send me a private message.

This post reflects my personal experience and is intended to help other workers make informed decisions before relocating.

Advice Resort recs

We still need to book a place to stay at and are leaning towards just staying at an all inclusive resort and was hoping for recs.

The best one for us would be located on a nice beach where you could walk into the water for snorkeling, decent food, decent vibes, and won’t break the bank but does have upgrade options. It doesn’t matter if it’s adults only since school will already be in session for the most part.

Appreciate the help!

Advice Snorkel or Spearfish

I am visiting Barbados soon and because I am not visiting for long and I have other plans I only have time to snorkel or spearfish but not both. I have never been spear fishing before but I have wanted to try and it would be fun to do it in Barbados. However I love snorkeling and have heard the shipwreck there is a very fun place to snorkel. I know some places are known to be better for one thing than the other so does anyone have advice on which is best to do at Barbados specifically?

Anyone remember the retired American who made Barbados his home in the 80s? Professor Dr. Richard Stoneham.

I remember him when I lived in Batbados as a child 1977-81

This is before the internet so nothing about what happened to him after I left.

Question pickUP barbados or taxi from the airport?

I will be travelling to barbados this weekend and was wondering which is cheaper usually between getting a taxi at the airport vs booking with pickUP barbados. I won't be bringing cash and would rather wait till I reach an ATM with no fees before taking any cash out, but if the taxis are much cheaper than pickUP I will be more willing to eat the costs of the airport ATM fees. Is there any way to pay for a taxi with a credit card at the airport? Thank you!

Flow Service troubles

Has anyone else been having unexpected lag spikes on games, phone calls and more? It's been about a week since I started feeling it and all of my friends are saying the same thing, is something happening, my friends who use digicel aren't experiencing issues as far as I know, is something specific happening with flow or the Island?

The "Local Lore" Spam Is Getting Out of Hand....

Can the mods apply some quality control to this sub?

There's a user who is currently spamming "local lore" videos. They're interesting enough, but posting them repeatedly is still spam.

Are there any active moderators here?

Best mate moving to barbados

Hey guys, I’m 24 and i left home in 2024 to return to the UK. my best friend i grew up with here has just moved overseas to barbados. i sent his parents a message to check in but they seem to really be struggling without him. Our birthdays are like a week apart and we met when we was a couple days old, given i’ve done the same to my parents and i’ve seen them struggle i’d like to try ease the pain, however i can. Would love to go see them but they are near london and i am right up north and just can’t afford it right now plus the time it takes. granted it has only been a week or so but I’d love to send them a gift or send them something to comfort them, any ideas?
