If anyone is from northern Haiti or has family with the northern dialect , would you be willing to tell me some other features of it. I’m familiar with some features like saying kinanm instead of pou mwen, the L often being omitted, i pa gen instead of Li pa gen, but I’m having trouble finding any information or resources on this dialect. I would like to really study and create more resources on the differences of standard Haitian Creole vs its spoken dialects. Things like city vs rural varieties. So if anyone could help I would appreciate it. Mesi anpil.

Haiti will start its campaign in Group A with three big meetings against the United States, Cuba and Salvador, at Estadio Universitario BUAP, Puebla, Mexico.

My mom practices Vodou, but she never asked me to participate until my junior year of high school. I am Catholic, and whenever I tell her I don’t believe in Vodou or don't want to join in, she threatens to kick me out of the house. She and my sisters also accuse me of 'acting white.'

She forces me to apply specific protection lotions and wear a protection ring. When I left for college, I took the ring off. However, when I returned home for break, I was hesitant to put it back on, though I knew she’d notice and confront me if I didn't.

Recently, I had a dream where I put the ring back on and heard the devil laughing at me. Looking for advice.

We have the r/Afrique sub for Africans and Afro-descendants where they can express their opinions, culture and everything related to Black people. We need Haitians to participate there, and every single Haitians are welcome. We have a Haitian American mod among the moderation team!

I’m currently going on dates with a Haitian man who was also born in the Bahamas. He moved here after elementary school and has been in Florida since for most of his life. He just moved to Atlanta 3 months ago. I was born in Florida, raised there up until age 10, from age 11 I’ve been in Atlanta. I know he’s been in the states for a good amount of time, but he’s primarily been around his family and friends who are also Haitian and has primarily dated Haitian women.

I grew up in an abusive household, which lead to me without a father figure in the house. His father is a pastor who was very active and present. Based off what he’s told me, I’m under the impression his mother didn’t work, my mother worked (and still does work) nonstop. His father took care of everything financially, my mother took care of everything financially. I say this to say, I’m extremely independent and handle everything myself, assuming because of what I’ve seen growing up. He’s very much so in a provider mindset, because of what he’s seen growing up.

Overall I’m seeing some things that aren’t a problem but ultimately are just differences that I would like to be educated on how Haitian men handle these situations. What should I know about dating a Haitian man when it comes to work, career, responsibilities, conversation tone… all of the above. Anything I should know. I really enjoy him so I’m curious. I should add there’s about a 7yr age between us.

Haitian citizen, they prefer USA because it auto gives them Canada but need to ultimately visit Canada. Nord district, can travel to RD and if embassy visit needed might be easiest.

Can any of this (Canada/USA Visa) be done by mail or courier from Nord?

Mike Waltz, the U.S. envoy to the United Nations, said Monday that the U.S. government would soon move to stop violent gangs in Haiti from making money off social media posts.

Gang leaders in the troubled Caribbean country are prolific users of social media and have celebrated killings, issued threats and posted musings on various sites. Younger gang members also post music videos and wave cash they've earned in an effort to recruit children in the impoverished nation.

Efforts to crack down on the gangs' use of social media are not new. In 2023, YouTube banned Johnson André, also known as Izo and considered Haiti's most powerful gang leader, following heavy criticism after he received an award for surpassing more than 100,000 subscribers.

I've been thinking about building a community for Haitian programmers, software engineers, cybersecurity enthusiasts, designers, and anyone interested in tech.

The goal isn't to create another dead Discord server. It's to build a reddit community where we can:

• Help each other learn and solve problems.

I’m a Haitian software engineer living in Massachusetts. I created Aro, a free community reporting tool that allows people to share and receive real-time safety alerts.

Aro is not only for the United States. It can be used by anyone in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Brazil, Chile, the United States, and communities around the world.

People can use Aro to alert their communities about gang violence, kidnappings, hurricanes, flooding, fires, accidents, blocked roads, possible immigration-enforcement activity, police activity, and other safety concerns.

The platform has no subscription and no ads. My goal is to give everyone a simple tool to share important information, warn others, and help keep their community safer.

Hi everyone,
I’m a Haitian-Canadian building Konbit Leve Dyaspora, an initiative that encourages the Haitian diaspora to invest in practical, transparent community projects in Haiti.

Instead of trying to solve everything at once, I want to start with one pilot project in Ouanaminthe:
• Clean drinking water
• Safe public toilets
• Hygiene education

The idea is simple: prove that one successful project can inspire many others across Haiti.
I’m not here to ask for donations today. I’m looking for honest feedback, advice, and people who believe that small, transparent projects can create lasting change.

If Haiti collected its large reserves of silver, gold and bauxite the costs of those things would go down greatly. And obviously Investors and companies to not want for that so they supply the gangs with weapons and power, and their certainly is deep corruption from people bribing the government officials aswell. Haitis main import is Oil. Haiti has no oil operation and that’s because if they did they would no longer have to buy other countries oil it’s the same with luxury goods and food,
