Help me figure this out because I'm genuinely confused.
So there's this girl in my university, let's call her KD. Ever since I first met her in my first year, I've had the feeling that she just doesn't like me. I was already in the class when she joined a little later (not sure if that's relevant, but I'm just trying to include everything I can remember in case it helps).
Anyway, I'm chronically ill, and because of that, I am not able to attend classes regularly. I do get some medical accommodations, but they aren't much since my university doesn't have many chronically ill or physically disabled students. They don't really have many resources or systems in place to support the few students who do need these accommodations.
The main issue is that KD often does things that feel passive-aggressive toward me.
For example, if a professor can't take attendance, they'll ask one of us to post the names of the students who are present in our official class group. Whenever KD is the one making the list, she'll often leave my name out. Either I or our CR has to add my name afterward. When someone asks why she left me out, she says something like, "Her name is so complicated that I get confused and forget to add it."
Another example, if I'm talking to my friends from outside my course, she'll make comments to her own friends loudly enough for me to hear, like, "Wow, she's really different around her friends. It's like they cured her illness."
Or if I'm standing outside a professor's office because I need to discuss something, she'll come up to me and say, "Tsk... why aren't you in class?"
I'm not a pushover, so if she's rude to me, I usually match her tone. I don't start arguments, but I'm not overly nice either.
There was also a club registration issue in my second year. Our university requires first- and second-year students to join at least one club. I was going to submit my form myself, but my classmates told me they were submitting everyone's forms together and that I didn't need to worry.
It turned out that my form got messed up, and it caused me some problems. Now we're in third year, and they told me they hadn't realized because KD was the one responsible for handling everyone's forms. Nobody really apologized. They just explained what happened. I simply said, "Okay," and moved on. I can't entirely blame them because, honestly, if I had just submitted my own form, none of this would've happened.
Before all of that happened, I actually tried to extend an olive branch. When I heard KD got engaged, I got her a small congratulatory gift. She literally rolled her eyes at it. After that, I decided to keep my distance. Now I only interact with her if she speaks to me first.
What confuses me is that I genuinely can't think of anything I ever did to upset her. As far as I remember, I've never been rude to her or had any conflict with her. It honestly felt like she disliked me from the moment we met. I know nobody here can know what's going on in her mind, but I'm curious, what could be the reason for this kind of behaviour? Am I missing something, or does it sound like she just has some issue with me?
There are a few more incidents, but this post is already long enough.
TL;DR: I have a classmate who has seemed to dislike me since the day we met. She frequently makes passive-aggressive comments about me and my chronic illness, leaves my name out of attendance lists, and has been involved in situations that have caused me problems. I even tried being friendly once by giving her a small engagement gift, and she rolled her eyes. I genuinely can't think of anything I've done to her. What could make someone dislike a person they've barely interacted with?
