How to prepare for blood test when your veins are difficult to find?
I had a blood test today and the nurse had a very difficult time drawing blood from my arms as usual, so she tried to take blood from my palm where my veins were slightly visible. However it was still not enough blood for all tests I needed, so I have to repeat it.
I rode a bike in hot weather while wearing a hoodie there so I hoped that my veins would pop out due to a higher temperature, but it didn't work. I also made sure to drink a lot of water in the morning and the day before. My arms are very skinny, so it's not a weight issue. Are there any other tips?
A bit stupid question but maybe if she drew blood from my palm then is it acceptable to ask if it could be done on my ankle? The only visible vein in my body is in that place.

Prescription Question regarding "Do not Fill until" protocol
I'm wondering if anyone can say with certainty if it is standard practice to use the following wording when indicating a rx is not filled until a specific date. I'm in Illinois and after reading through the pharmacy code and after posing the question to gemini, etc. it seems that using "do not fill until {date}" is the specific means to indicate this on an rx. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
The issue I've been experiencing is likely a product of no outlined protocols in the office amongst the nurses or one that is not understood universally. I am prescribed a schedule 3 medication that I am very good about filling as close to the fill date as possible. I try not to fill it early or late whenever possible. In fact, I keep a preformatted spreadsheet that outlines exactly when I should fill the next one, it keeps a running tally of how many days early or late I've filled the rx, and helps me stay organized as I know these medications are controlled.
As of 2025 my physician has begun entering "begin taking on [date}" now and again on the rx. Every pharmacist at the walgreens I go to interprets this differently. Some fill it earlier than the date indicated others don't. I inquired at my physicians office through their online portal but I've gotten conflicting answers. Initially I was told it's only for their records and to tell the pharmacist that it's not a do not fill date. Recently a different nurse told me different.
However, the part that I can't understand is that there is no rhyme or reason for when they put these notes on there, in the dates they decide on, or a consistent answer to any question I ask. They've admittedly made mistakes on the dates in the past and called in a new rx with the right date but yet each time this occurs it requires me to spend an excessive amount of time trying to give them objective information from my walgreens history outlining the error.
I don't blame the pharmacists but I've shown them that some of them fill them regardless of said date others will not. This month they wrote the wrong date again but keep telling me they will not fill it early. I keep showing them screenshots of my walgreens account history indicating the 30 days was 2 days ago but they keep failing to correct the mistake or even acknowledge it. The pharmacist is weary of filling it b/c he doesn't know their intentions. He called them several times but told me they haven't called him back.
What to do?

How does TB preventive therapy work?
My partner was diagnosed with TB three days ago. GeneXpert +ve, AFB negative. Non resistant.
He has been given the first line of treatment from DOTS.
I have had exposure for months from the looks of it, and cannot go home as my parents have chronic ailments.
Here, we are stuck in the same room.
Hence, I am considering the preventative therapy.
Can anyone here tell me how it works, if they have taken it and what to expect?
