Physician Responded Will my belly button regain its original shape post- laparoscopy?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I (33F) just had a laparoscopy two days ago to diagnose endometriosis. It turned out I have severe endometriosis and so none of it could be removed during surgery.

As part of the surgery they told me they would make a small incision by my belly button and one just above my bikini line and that the incisions would be no more than 0.5cm in length.

I have just changed the dressing covering my belly button to a clean one and saw the state my belly button is in and it has shocked me as it looks like the surgeon has cut my button off and reshaped it entirely.

I know this probably doesn’t sound like a big deal to most people but I really liked the shape of my circular belly button as it was unique to me and also very easy to clean as it wasn’t the typical deep void hole in the stomach that some other people have.

Will my belly button heal and regain its circular shape it has before surgery or am I correct in thinking she hasn’t just made a small incision beside my button but essentially removed it??

Before and after pictures attached.

Chemical burn after brushing hair?

Post image
0 Upvotes

female 20, 5'4, 132 lbs. No, it is not from an iron, I did not burn myself. I ironed my hair and then brushed it out with a new brush I had just opened, and I went to my room for maybe five minutes, returned, looked in the mirror, and saw these red marks all over my body. They align where I brushed my hair with my new comb. I washed my face with soap after. I decided to wait it out overnight and see if they would fade and they did for the most part however, they are still there and slightly raised on my face. They don’t hurt, but sting slightly if I apply water or touch it for prolonged periods of time. I haven’t touched it since. I’m just worried it’s a chemical burn and will scar.. One on my cheek has a slightly darker, hyperpigmentation looking mark above it.

I’m currently in Japan on vacation, so I’m not quite sure what I should get at the store to use the redness. Does it look like chemical burn? Will it go away? If it hasn’t gone away overnight, what do you think is going to happen?

Physician Responded No doctor takes me seriously and I don't know what to do anymore

(22F, 152cm, 40kg) Lately I've been having really bad health issues and doctors completely dismiss me.

I've been having really bad ibs-m like symptoms, chronic fatigue to the point some days I am physically incapable of getting out of bed, feeling dizzy, my chest feels so heavy, I have a hard time showering because keeping my hands above my head makes me feel like I'm going to faint. Doctors just tell me it's all due my trauma and that there's nothing they can do for me (I am in weekly therapy). I am anemic, but have been taking iron to the point my iron levels are completely fine, but that has not improved my condition in the slightest. What could this possibly be? How can I get doctors to not send me home without completely dismissing me? I live alone and can barely walk to my kitchen to eat some days and no doctor seems to care.

Physician Responded I 29M hurt my back at the pool. Was told I had a rotational problem in my spine and to see a chiropractor. After looking at the xray I thought I could see what looks like a fracture. Is everything good here?

No previous medical history other than asthma. Played chicken in the pool a couple weeks ago and now have some bad back pain. Went to get an xray today and the doc told me that the vertebrae have rotated to the right, left, then right. Was told to go see a chiropractor. I saw the images and didn’t ask at the time but now think she may have missed a grayish line on this vertebrae. What do yall think? Am I crazy or is something there?

Physician Responded how bad is it to take large amounts of tylenol & ibuprofen daily?

27f 120lbs 5’3
daily medications - seroquel, wellbutrin, gabapentin, stool softener, tylenol, & ibuprofen. zofran as needed

i have chronic pain from a surgery a few years ago, which i’ve been prescribed gabapentin for. it was pretty difficult to get my pain management doctor to prescribe that (it’s a controlled substance in my state) and it helps a small amount which is better than nothing.

so i take Tylenol & ibuprofen daily. i know i am taking too much but i feel like i have no other choice. my doctors know this and i’ve been told to “not take too much” but i’m not sure what else i should do.

i take a minimum of 5,500 mg of Tylenol a day & 1,800 mg of ibuprofen. sometimes more if i’m having a flair up & i honestly don’t know if it’s helping but i’m too scared to cut back or stop taking it.

i have chronic nausea & take zofran but of course i don’t know if it’s from the pain or the meds or what.

how bad is this? i get conflicting answers on google. i have crappy marketplace insurance so going to the doctor is really expensive but i do have a primary care, GI, & pain management doctor.

Physician Responded What’s Happening to my Fingers?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hello all! I am a 23yo, 6’0, and ~165lb male. I exercise somewhat regularly, used to vape daily (have switched to nicotine pouches), am on no medication, and don’t use any other drugs. This issue first started occurring about two weeks ago. Since then, the skin has continued peeling off my fingers.

My chief concern is that the skins at my finger tips is peeling off. I don’t use harsh chemicals, or anything like that, consistently. It’s summer where I am, so it’s warm and humid out as well. I’ve started moisturizing, but that doesn’t seem to be helping at all.

While not consistent or permanently present, I occasionally get slightly itchy/painful red spots across my palms and fingers, as well as little pimple looking things on my finger tips (usually towards the outer sides of the nail beds). Half of me thinks this might just be due to anxiety/stress.

I’ve only attached one photo which I think shows the issue well, but if more are needed, let me know!

Should I be worried about what’s going on here? Thank you so much!

Physician Responded What to do if swallowed too much salt.

I was with my friends & I had seen a video of someone eating a tomato with A TON of salt and thought it'd be funny to try it out with my friends. We chopped a tomato into slices and put around an entire tablespoon of salt on top of it & started doing challenges, in a nutshell, I lost a challenge and instead of spitting the tomato out like all of my friends had done, I pushed myself to swallow it.

I couldn't breathe very well but after managing to drink some water I was okay, almost puked but I'm glad I didn't as Google suggests to avoid vomitation.

I'm okay, I'm drinking as much water as I can. I'm 15, male, don't drink, smoke or do any kind of substances, 70 kg, about 180 cm, only medication is some doxycycline pills prescribed by my dermatologist, don't have any medical conditions (apart from ADHD, if that somehow affects)

I'm aware of how irresponsible this was, and I'm normally more sensible than this, none of my friends were harmed and I'm thankfully ok.

Found on a newly healed laceration on my two year old's inner wrist, what is it?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I noticed my two year old (girl) was scratching at her wrist and pointing at it (she does this when she has a boo boo and wants it kissed better lol), so I looked at it to see what's wrong and this is what I saw. At first, I thought it was just the laceration she had there healing weirdly (it was a bit deep but luckily it healed on it's own), that was until I looked closer and saw these two white dots on it.

For context, the wrist laceration happended a few months ago, don't ask me how, honestly I don't even know. She literally just presented her wrist to us for booboo kisses, and low and behold there was a gnarly gash. She didn't even cry whatsoever it was freaky. With her you generally won't know she's hurt unless you happen to witness her getting hurt or you spot the wound or bruise yourself because apparently some kids on the Spectrum can have higher pain tolerance and don'treally respond much when hurt, and she happens to be one of them.

Anyways, sorry for the information dump, back to my question, can anyone maybe give me an idea on what this is? Should I head to the ER, or her pediatrician? Or should I just treat it at home and keep an eye on it? It doesn't seem to hurt, but again she has a diminished sense of pain, so it could actually be hurting her but she's just not registering it.

How to get a doctor’s note to wear sunglasses at work?

23M. My workplace I’m subcontracted at doesn’t allow sunglasses without a doctors note, and they do enforce this. How can I go about getting one without an actual medical reason other than I squint when it’s bright. I’m a habitual sunglasses wearer outside of work so it sucks not having them at work.

Physician Responded 30F I think I'm addicted to my Adderall

Throwaway account. 30F, ADHD, MDD. Current medications are Adderall and Effexor XR.

I hate to say this and I've been trying really hard to take my medication as prescribed, but it makes my depression feel better and I end up taking a whole dose more of my Adderall every day than what's prescribed.

I'm rx'd 30mg of Adderall XR per day by my psychiatrist. I often take it first thing in the morning. Around 4 hours later, I usually open up another 30mg and take half. Then another 4 hours later I do the same thing with the other half. Sometimes I even take another half if I'm starting to feel sleepy/depressed to early in the night.

I usually run out of Adderall 2 weeks after refilling for the month and drink energy drinks and coffee the other 2 weeks, stuck in bed, severely depressed and wishing I wasn't alive.

I feel out of control with the medication now and I'm scared to tell my psychiatrist because I don't want to lose the Adderall and be labeled as a drug seeker. He's a good doctor and I've been seeing him for over half my life, but I feel like I'm going to be letting him down and that's the last thing I want to do.

I don't know what to do anymore, can someone help?

Physician Responded Scary orgasm while ongoing neurological condition

F21, 54kgs, lesbian

I got into an accident on ninth of June 2026, after which I developed a condition called kyphosis of cervical spine where in my cervical spine, which is supposed to be into a c shape has turned in the opposite direction. Some of the symptoms that I have felt our dizziness, loss of balance, complete blackouts, tinnitus and occasional loss of hearing in my ear, increased sensitivity in my teeth and continued pain in my spine and nape of neck as well as pain In my left hand. I have been on bed rest ever since. Recently, My muscles have started to loosen up a bit due to which my physician suggested that I can continue with my normal life and I have started going back to my university again.

The real point of concern happened today when after almost 2 months, I had sex with my partner.

Usually, when I orgasm and have sex after a very long time, I start tearing up while almost fainting during the sex, although I recover within a few minutes and want to go for another round pretty quickly.
Today, after I had already orgasmed once my partner decided to use the strap on me. Almost about 10 minutes in, I told them that I can’t feel my hands. We had taken all the measures to safeguard the recovery of my neck. About five minutes later, my hands went completely numb and I could no longer feel them which put both me and my partner in a very awkward position where my hands were frozen in a very concerning state. My fingers went stiff, and it was difficult to move them like I naturally can. My hands were so stiff that even if I tried to change their position into a normal state, I could not. I was sweating profusely, and my partner was really scared.
When my hands finally started getting sensation and was in a resting position. My partner noticed that my fingers are twitching a lot, which has never happened with me before in such extremity.

I cannot tell this to my Doctor who is treating me because I go there with my parents and I live in a very homophobic country.
I will try to attach a picture of how my hands looked like when they went stiff.

I think it was something related to me orgasming while my nervous system could not process it considering my spinal cord is compressed with the unnaturally opposite curve of my neck due to the impact of the accident which led to the unnatural stiffness. Has this happened w anybody else before? Does anyone know if this is a point of genuine concern something i should bring up w my doctor? If so, then how without outing myself?

P.S.: getting medical advise on this is really really difficult for me atp, i am okay now, that scare lasted for almost 10-15 minutes.

Water like fluid coming from wound

Okay, I am a 28year old female. A little over a year ago I had noticed my leg swelling but no pain. My leg was hard and at times could get sort of glossy. I did some research and although I don’t fully believe in self diagnosis, I could now take an educated guess that it was most likely an Edema. At the time, I was working a lot on my feet and had a horrible diet due to my job. My salt intake was crazy high and I never raised my legs properly. I had recently left that job and in turn I have been considering my health more. I have lowered my salt intake, my legs are now 90% of the time raised, etc. My swelling has gone down over time. It’s still definitely has water retention but it’s clears up more and more as time passes. My cat swatted my leg last night trying to play at approximately 8pm. I bled very little. The wound is very very little, barely surface level. After the blood had stopped, a water like liquid started coming from the wound. It has no smell and has the viscosity of water, very thin. It’s not pouring out, the flow is at a consistent slow pace, almost dripping I guess. Anyway, the wound hasn’t stopped expelling this fluid at all and it’s now 11am the next day. My leg is a lot smaller but still definitely has water retention still but the difference is very noticeable in comparison to yesterday. Should I allow this liquid to continue flowing? Is the fluid draining from my leg? Or should I close of the wound and stop it?

Physician Responded Radiology report doesn’t match my MRI? What do you see?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I have been suffering from neck, shoulder blade, radiating arm pain for 19 days. The pain ranges from 4-10 depending on the day and time of day. Nights and mornings are my worst. I didn’t have an accident and my symptoms came on suddenly out of nowhere. I’m 49f extremely active female. I was seen on July 4 in the hospital because the pain reached a 10 and I got extremely concerned. I was released from the hospital and diagnosed with radiculothopy. I’m on gabapentine and an anti inflammatory and I’m praying that this will resolve itself and I won’t need surgery.

The MRI report says,
C2-C3: Disc osteophyte complex indents the ventral thecal sac. No central stenosis. No neural foraminal stenosis. C3-C4: Disc osteophyte complex indents the ventral thecal sac. No central stenosis. No neural foraminal stenosis. C4-C5: Disc osteophyte complex indents the ventral thecal sac. Mild central stenosis. Mild bilateral neural foraminal stenosis. C5-C6: Disc osteophyte complex indents the ventral thecal sac. Mild central stenosis. Mild bilateral neural foraminal stenosis. C6-C7: Disc osteophyte complex indents the ventral thecal sac. Mild central stenosis. Mild left neural foraminal stenosis. C7-T1: Disc osteophyte complex indents the ventral thecal sac. No central stenosis. No neural foraminal stenosis.

I clearly see a disc bulge in this MRI that is narrowing the spinal column pathway and I’m not a doctor. Doesn’t this finding (that is not in the report ) explain the extreme symptoms I have?

Why was I prescribed this?

I have been dealing with a cold, with my 2 biggest issues being a sore throat and persistent cough. I called teladoc yesterday and without me even saying much the guy prescribed me with Ipratropium Bromide Nasal Spray (Atrovent) and Montelukast (Singulair). I started researching these and don’t see anything suggesting that they help with cough or sore throat. Not sure how the Montelukast has affected me but I coughed ALL night, it was worse than before. And the Ipratropium Bromide just made my nostrils really dry. Should I be taking these? I expected tessalon perles or something of the like.

TLDR: Prescribed Atrovent and Singulair for a cough and sore throat, doesn’t seem to be helping.
