Why do straight people feel like they have to be the center of everything?

I just saw a TikTok that pissed me off and I wanted to talk about it. In it a straight girl talked about how there's too many shows centering queer people and too many queer plots, that she doesn't care and that representation is pushed everywhere even if it doesn't serve the plot. She said she sees a lot of series that only have queer characters and that when there are only gay people she can't relate, that she feels discriminated against and that she feels like she has to change her sexuality to relate.

Jesus Christ there's so many fucking shows with only straight people in them go watch them and stop bitching about it. It pissed me off so much because you don't have to relate to everything and not every show has to be for you. For years there was no representation and saying there's so much is an exaggeration to me. And I'm sorry she feels discriminated because her sexuality wasn't represented in some random tv show?? Queer people aren't represented everywhere either. Most shows and movies are aimed for straight people. Can't we have one fucking thing to ourselves? She doesn't even know what real discrimination feels like. I live in a country where meeting other gay people is hard and where I'm anxious about the future. I'm anxious that I won't find a girlfriend or if I'll ever be able to marry my girlfriend if I have one or whether or not my rights could be completely taken away in the future. Straight people don't have to worry about that. They don't have to worry about coming out to their families and whether or not they'll be accepted. They don't have to worry about being harassed on the street if they go out with their partner. Saying she feels discriminated against because of some show didn't include straight people is insane.

Maybe I am overreacting but it pissed me off hard and I needed to vent. I don't think my friends who are straight would see it as relevant to them so I'm doing it here.

Chat Dating Apps Are Boring

I love women but it’s so hard to actually meet other sapphics. The dating apps are full of scammers or men, or the women on there don’t reply when you message or you have to pay to message.
And if you have specific preferences you can’t filter them either.
A lot of queer culture revolves around bars and clubs so if you really want to meet someone you’ll meet them in those spaces.
I just want to meet a girl at like a bookstore or something and go on form there. My last relationship was years ago and we met on an app, so the relationship lasted just about as long as you can expect.

Vent I almost confessed to her.

I was in the car with my best friend the other night and she was telling me about how therapy was going for her and what she talked about.

She talked a bit about her ex-boyfriend and the first time she told him that she was in love with him. Specifically, she was crying and a bit drunk and told him that she loved him, and didn't know what to do. That hit me pretty hard, ngl.

We also talked about how much our friendship has grown from age 17 to now (We are both 22). And as the conversation became more and more vulnerable, I got the burning urge to tell her that I have feelings for her. But she was talking about her ex, her family, her childhood trauma, and more. It wasn't about me. So I held off.

But surprisingly, I felt little to no embarrassment in terms of me about to confess. And I mean the words were on the TIP of my tongue, I was going to do it. It felt like it would have been so easy. Maybe confessing itself isn't the part that I was worried about? I do have fears about how our dynamic will change, that much is true.

I've been trying to decide when would be a good time, and I'm just trying to savor our friendship now before things possibly change. Along with not wanting to turn the conversation onto my feelings, I was also thinking: She loves and appreciates my friendship so much, how can I possibly jeopardize that?

I don't expect a relationship or for her to fall madly in love with me. This is for my own mental liberation, honestly. I've been scrambling for the past month or so, trying to piece together a way to be honest without ruining everything.

Help

I know this is a pipeline, please don’t laugh at me lol. Fell in love w a friend, I actually don’t know if we were ever just friends. We flirted, it was playful until it wasn’t. She told me serious things, partner level things, we never hooked up or anything but physically we were close. Hand holding, sharing beds, cuddling, caressing, etc. the kick is she’s had a bf this whole time, that relationship seemed genuinely on the rocks. She finally admitted feelings for me after months of pushing it down. But now bc it hit her in the face, she wants to focus on her relationship and see it for what it is before she even thinks about trying w me. She wants to stay friends. I tried but this is hurting me too much. I feel like I already lost her. Feel so alone and hate everything

I wanna kiss a girl so baddd

I never kissed or been in a relationship and I wanna kiss and make out with a girl so baddd even to know what it feels like. All my straight friends have the experience of kissing someone just not me. This is so unfair straight people have it wayyy easier :c

All I ask for is to have a cute girl to kiss

Humor Girl I like called me mommy LOL

I find this really silly and had to tell someone, but I can't tell anyone irl because they'll find it weird, so here I am!

Basically, I'm talking to this girl and we flirt a lot and play way too much. It started out as a joke, us making fun of people calling their partners mommy/daddy etc, but then she kept doing it and i started getting flustered at it.

Today she was wayyy out of it as it was really late and she was exhausted, and she took it even further and, it almost seemed like she was just casually calling me mommy which made my brain stutter bc, hey, where's the "Just kidding"??? WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT??? anyways this is just me ranting about something silly I hope someone else finds it funny 🥹

I really like her but there's sooo much to get past before we get together but I'm excited for itt..❤️

I'm not sure how this fits, but I need to vent about what happened today, and I feel like this group of women is the right place to do it. I am a lesbian, and I am in a very odd position with my female manager.

So since day one at my new job, my manager has been commenting on how large my chest area is. I am tall af, rather skinny, but my breasts are apparently extreme because of a weight gain in the past.

It was probably the first thing she commented on to me, saying how jealous she is and that I just need to know how to use them correctly. Like, what does that even mean?

I've been working there for almost two months, and today just shook me to my core. I still don't know what to think.

For context - I work in hospitality; we have some ugly-ass unisex T-shirts, with no cleavage, just plain and boring, ugly colors.

black pants and apron

I wear mine folded in half around my waist, as I hate the way it hangs behind my neck; it's uncomfortable, it's what everyone does, it's what I've been doing since I started years ago, nobody ever said a thing.

Today my manager lectured me for about ten minutes about how I can't wear my apron like that, that everyone is always staring at my chest, that it's inappropriate. She said it's great that my breasts are large and healthy, but I need to know how to use them?????

girl? what the hell am I supposed to do? Wrap them with a binder?

first of all, nobody stares. I work in a place where customers are polite; since they work in corporate, we are all super friendly and chill. I have never noticed anyone ever stare at me in the wrong way. It is my manager who does it, always commenting and bringing up how lucky I am to have such large breasts (she is on a smaller size with them). I assume it's her personal issue; perhaps she is insecure with the size of hers. She also comments on how long my legs are when I wear shorts, but that's something I've been hearing all my life, so I am kinda used to it? tho it's still uncomfortable, it's not like I can make them shorter.

I told her that I don't think they are that big, and she was like - have you tried to cup them? I bet one hand is not enough.

Like, fucking excuse me?

She has no boundaries. She is making everyone uncomfortable by her constant negativity, and every day I wonder what her issue will be this time, but I wasn't expecting this.

She is an owner/manager/chef/hr/boss, so there's not anyone else to complain to about this other than my colleagues, who were shocked.

She told me I need to wear a different style of bra (I wear sports, as that's what I find the most comfortable and fitting, and I refuse to wear wired ones and be in even more pain than I already am).

She threw me off so much, saying that when people approach me, all they see are my boobs and that I need to wear my apron differently. Apparently it's like Pamela Anderson is serving them.

I am speechless. I am already insecure about my appearance, yet my breasts are a part of me I never considered disliking. My whole day was ruined (she said this at 6 am); I didn't know whether to listen or ignore her, but I eventually ended up wearing an apron in the full length, because I just got too scared that I am making someone uncomfortable.

i don't know whether this is her tactic of her trying to make me quit (trust me i am close to it) or what's her fucking deal, but i find this way over the line

she said it as if she is just giving me advice, meaning well, yet later when i spiraled i realised that it's far from the truth

how am i supposed to feel confident at a place where the fucking boss makes you want to cut your chest off just so she stops commenting on it?

It borderlines with harrasing at this point. She always tries to make her stupid remarks sound like a joke, but I lose sleep over them. I got into an argument with her the other week, as she threw some comments at me, and when I confronted her the next day, she turned it all against me, gaslighted me, and I ended up apologising for being a dick, when in reality it was her who once again fucked up.

She works 24/7, with no breaks. Early mornings until late nights with no days off. I understand that she is tired; I have been respectful, trying not to take her negativity too seriously, but I am not the only one who is affected. My colleague said to me that everyone will end up leaving if it continues like that, yet to me it feels like it is only going to be me who quits, as I always do. I refuse to deal with such bs in a workplace. I already hate wasting my precious life on work that gives me no time for my own hobbies, only to survive this stupid economy. I don't understand why people say they are going to quit and never do. I end up being the only one.

I don't know what to do. She made me super uncomfortable and insecure, and I don't know how to work with this new information.

The shirt literally shows nothing; it's not my fault that my chest is fucking large. Nobody has ever lectured me on this, or made me feel bad about it.

What would you do apart from quitting lol? I am looking into new jobs, but it's hard to find something this well paid and with such great benefits.

i dread going there every day, I hate that place sm.

Vent how can i love?

Upvotes

sounds stupid, but i’ve never been in a wlw relationship and only 1 relationship with a man and he was pretty much the only guy i talked to/dated and we were pretty toxic. thought i just hated men so deeply, but i think i’m just a lesbian. and now that i’ve accepted it it’s still just as hard getting into a relationship for me, and even more because i’m 19 and don’t even know how to properly date a woman. i know i want it to feel like best friend but i don’t know how to picture romantic love in that way, i feel like i’m so bad at flirting and confessing my feelings in general, i hate dating apps, like everytime i view wlw content i know i want it and i want a gf, but it’s like i cant feel those feelings with anyone like i feel asexual but in the past i would only have feelings for my friends and it’s actually how i realized i was gay and didn’t just didn’t girls insanely attractive for no reason.. like i want to experience love and i only have these desires for women especially now i’ve excepted i’m a lesbian, but like my standards are incredibly high i feel so picky but i also love myself so deeply like i project that into ideal partner but now i’m just incredibly lonely.

Ask r/WLW What is the stupidest reason you have been broken up with✌🏼

I js saw this on TikTok & thought I’d ask on here because I’m genuinely curious. I’ll start : One of the reasons I got broken up with once was because I had left someone on opened. They sent me a streak of them filling up the bath? What was I meant to say. I left them on opened for 5 mins btw like I understand if it was 5 hours but nah 5 mins 😭✌🏼

Vent closeted

A year ago i met this perfect girl for me. she always made me laugh and she had the most perfect personality and i felt i could be myself with her and not the person i pretended to be with when i would be with my straight friends. she wanted to be with me and she wanted to post me and call me her girlfriend and i truly wanted that.

It’s embarrassing for me to admit this here but I am closeted. Every time i would picture myself doing those things she wanted to do i felt this shame about it i genuinely don’t know why. I know i’m horrible for doing this but i envisioned it again and i felt the shame stronger then any other time so i just blocked her so it would stop. I regret that so much because I can’t stop dreaming about her and thinking of her.

She wasn’t the only girl i liked there’s been about 3-4 others but it always ends the same way with that shame of how i feel. I’ve dated plenty of guys and done stuff with them it feels good yeah; but doesn’t even compare to just a kiss from a girl or flirting with a girl.

I can maybe see myself later on getting confidence and dating a girl. but i can’t see myself marrying one or being in a long term relationship with them.

I’m not sure what I am. i’m not sure if i could even tell this to anyone i know.

Ask r/WLW feeling too emotionally dependent on partner

I feel like i’m slowly losing myself in my relationship. I love my girlfriend and genuinely enjoy spending time with her, so we do hang out quite a bit. The problem is that i feel like i can’t function without her sometimes and that’s smothering.

I’ve noticed after we spend a lot of time together, she will naturally start to pull back and I understand that everyone needs space, and I don’t think she’s doing anything wrong. But whenever she pulls back i feel the NEED to close that distance by trying to be around her because for some reason i think that’s what she needs. Logically, i know that’s the opposite of what she needs in those moments and i think im trying to make myself feel better instead of respecting her need for space

I don’t want to make every moment about my feelings, and I don’t want to be emotionally dependent on her. I want to be able to give her space without feeling like she’s going to leave me, or feeling anxious that something is wrong.

Has anyone dealt with this ? how did you become more emotionally independent while being in a relationship? because i don’t want to love her less i just want to stop feeling like i have to rely on her so i can feel emotionally regulated lol

* Yes i do have a job and im full time in school my summer break has allowed me to have more time for her than usual

Support Advice please.

Js advice?

I honestly don’t know if this is gonna make me sound like an absolute h0e or not but I’ve never been single since I was 12 years old ( I’m now turning 18 in December) and thinking so much about this I realise how I’ve wasted half of my teen life focusing on someone else, analysing texts, ALWAYS waking up with a good morning/gn text& recently I js broke up with someone I was with for 2-3 weeks because I realised I’m not ready for this. I have no idea who I am outside a relationship, idk what I like, I’ve always been so emotionally dependent on people and I absolutely despise that. Me and my ex gf of 3 years on and off broke up a month ago and I got w someone a week after( again regret).

I’m trying to do a single journey type thing and i need advice on it.

Vent “WlW group”

Next time you want to make a “wlw group for Arabs” make sure you keep your mean girl energy at home and to yourself, someone here said they want to make a WLW group as mentioned, I barely got added, and as I was reading through their chat, it seems like some knew eachother beforehand.
Before I even get the chance to introduce myself, I am removed and blocked! I don’t get it? This community is supposed to be inclusive and welcoming, wth was that, I couldn’t even confront them as they had already had me blocked….so yeah… hating this rn :/

Discussion Moving too fast ?

Classic lesbian question that I already have the answer for

I've been in 3 long term relationships were they moved pretty quickly and ended pretty quickly I would say the most recent one lasted 4 months my longest relationship was off and on for a year and a half in 2024

I am now talking to someone new and things are actually going pretty and I've communicated about past relationships and how fast they were we have had pretty clear and open communication about this

I just don't want to repeat old patterns especially with my anxious attachment style that I am working very hard to fix we are both anxiously attached people which idk kinda worries me but the thing is all I ever attract is avoidants and disorganized attachment people

Any advice fellow lesbian or anyone who can
relate we are meeting this Friday

Discussion UPDATE: I think I'm developing feelings for my best friend

Hey guys… so like a lot to update you on.

Here's the original post

After I brought up that our mutual mentioned that my bff thought she had feelings for me once upon a time to my bff everything was chill and nothing too noticeable had changed.

Less than a week after, we were out at the pubs with a couple friends and we had a plan to sleepover at my house. We were joking around and mentioned that sometimes we don't want to stay at each others places because we want a "solo sesh" or we want to sleep commando. She said that was how she was feeling in that moment and I joked and said she can just have a "solo sesh" at mine and that I'd clean my toys for her.

Not to get into too many details but we ended up mutually masturbating . There was a VERY small amount of interaction between us.

… the same thing happened the next weekend but escalated. AGAIN not to get into too many details but there was much more involvement with one another. And she initiated our first kiss between one another.

… two days later it happened again but we didn't use any toys.

We've pretty much been slowly unlocking more and more of each other but we're both very much baby gays and are terrified of initiating and beyond (her more so than I). We've been having very open communication and are honestly just making fun of one another (playfully). We were joking around about buying a strap and well long story short we have a strapless strap in the mail.

I told her about my original post the other day but I didn't want her to read it because 1. Embarrassing and 2. I hadn't told her I was figuring out how I felt about her. I did eventually tell her and she found the post and I guess we are just figuring it out as we go lol

ive worn wigs due to hair loss my whole life and it’s an ongoing battle with my confidence etc. I was just wondering if you went on a date with someone who appears to have long hair and then found out later on that they didn’t, would it put you off?
