Looking for Home - 2 Sister Cats

Hey guys, I found these 2 in a single carrier on the streets in brooklyn last year,I had a friend foster them for a almost a year but unfortunately was not able to find a home for them and I'll be taking them back onĀ Friday 07/24, but unable to keep them long term.

I'm hoping someone can take these 2 sweet hearts, absolute angels namedĀ MatchaĀ &Ā Mocha, my apartment is too small to house them longer than a few days. Resources are also very tight for me

If anyone in the Brooklyn/Boroughs are interested in these 2 sisters, please reach out! (Please serious inquires only)

I have a vehicle so can bring them to you if needed. If anyone can take them this weekend or even sooner that would be great. I know the success rate of them being adopted, especially together is low and it would break my heart to surrender them to a shelter.

To the man who called me a fat ass in Domino Park today 7/21

To the man who called me a fat ass in Domino Park today when I tried to pass you and your girlfriend, who were taking up the entire width of the park with your dog: do better.

If you have an issue with the way I passed you (even though I said "on your right" several times when YOU were the ones taking up the entire path), fine. Flip me off. Say "fuck you." Whatever. But jumping straight to insulting a woman's body? And then doubling down when I confronted you? That's pathetic.

Did no one ever teach you how to speak to women? You called a random woman a "fat ass" not once, but multiple times, right in front of your girlfriend... and she didn't say a word. I was honestly disappointed by that. If I were in her position, I couldn't imagine standing there silently while the man I was with repeatedly demeaned another woman like that.

If you're this comfortable demeaning a woman in public over something so trivial, I don't even want to imagine how you speak to women in private.

For what it's worth, I'm in shape and training for the NYC Marathon... but that shouldn't matter. What an embarrassing excuse for a man. Shame on you. People like you are the reason I want to leave this neighborhood.

Neighborhood Mainstay Closing in September: Williamsburg Thai Cuisine

Post image
122 Upvotes

Dear friends and neighbors:

Williamsburg Thai Cuisine at 212 Bedford Avenue, between North 5th and North 6th, is shutting down sometime in September. It's one of the few old-school restaurants on Bedford that survived this long. They've been serving up great, inexpensive Thai food for maybe 20 years? And their portions are now bigger than ever (a parting gift?).

I have no affiliation with this spot but it's one of my long-time staples for quick, reliable takeout and when I was recently there, they told me the news since they know me as a regular. Please go have some tasty Thai food and help give the family a boost before they shut their doors. They are great people and they deserve your support.

There goes the neighborhood... again.

This was my go to sushi spot for a basic weeknight sushi order. Google Maps says it’s closed for good. Does anyone know what happened? I’m shocked :(

Dog walkers: do better.

If you’re walking dogs in the neighborhood, please don’t let them pee directly on the front entrance of residential buildings. It’s disrespectful to the people who live there and gives responsible dog owners a bad reputation.

mouldy food from whole foods grand st

i've had one too many experiences of buying stuff from the "new" whole foods on grand st. only to find they're mouldy when coming to use them. yesterday bought parmesan cheese with an expiry date of October & a bag of cucumbers, both green and mouldy when i came to use them today. disappointing considering how expensive it is. anyone else had a similar experience or am i just extremely unlucky..

L Train Robberies

• Upvotes

Last week I had a pretty spooky experience on the L from 1st Ave to Bedford. I called crime stoppers, spoke to a very dejected officer who didn’t sound like he cared at all and this week I’m seeing the train robberies are still occurring. Sharing what I saw in case it helps someone.

When I came down the steps into the station at 1st Ave there are two very large black bins, I think they’re trash but not sure and doesn’t really matter. Standing between the bins was a tall man dressed in all black, I only saw him because I happened to be looking directly in that space. Everyone ahead and behind me didn’t appear to notice him at all. He was fully dressed in black with a black surgical mask on and black durag on his head. Leaving a small amount of face shown. He stayed low between the bins most of the time but stood occasionally and looked directly down the aisle and went back just ask quick. If anyone else noticed him, they didn’t look like it. Most people were on the phones or just tired on the way to/from work.

I couldn’t tell exactly why he kept peaking out until we boarded the train but it gave me a bad vibe so I boarded the car further then I normally do (second car from end) he got on the first car. Immediately after the doors closed a man a bit shorter (probably 5’9. Wearing green hoodie, blue pants and white mask with his hair and top of face covered by a black durag) came from the 3rd car into the second. He kept reaching into his waistband for something I couldn’t exactly see and staring into the next car (the first car) for the man dressed in black. I could see they were communicating through the glass but didn’t want to stare at either hard enough for them to notice so I have no idea what exactly was communicated.

It’s important to note this was prior to the smoke from Canada trying to suffocate us all. It was the 12th at around 8:10am . If you’ve lived in this city and rode the train for a good part of your life, then you can probably tell when something is about to pop and I think I got VERY lucky this day. Please be aware of your surroundings it doesn’t seem like these robberies are stopping but rather just getting started.

Dirty water by Lorimer

I know there’s recently been some planned overnight waterline maintenance spanning a few of the blocks between the lorimer and graham L stops.

When our water came back on this morning it was brown (and is still brown as of now, 10 hours later). Anyone experiencing the same? We’ve let it run for 15-30 minute increments to try and clear it out but no changes.
