Shaving skill level before trying DE
This might be a weird one. I’m a trans man on HRT and I’m thrilled to say that I have full if light coverage, at least there is stubble everywhere. It’s weird to go through puberty again in my 40s.
I’ve been afraid to shave my face with a razor and spent so much on foil shavers, rotary shavers, fancy trimmers. My skin got worse and worse. Maybe 3 months ago I bought a Fusion and have been learning. I’m finally brave enough to go against the grain in the few areas that really really need it. It’s scary to think of walking around in the world with cuts on my face so I am probably very conservative with how much I am removing. I’m surprised to say that shaving with the grain is so much easier on my skin than any electric thing, especially now that I know how to make a nice lather.
But the Fusion blades don’t last. Earlier in life I shaved my legs but that hair is barely anything. Face hair is very coarse.
And I’m a baker so I have a huge box of Astra blades I use to score bread. I know how cheap they are. So I bought a safety razor. It’s even adjustable so I can start slow. Every shave I try to talk myself into trying it. I’m afraid it will peel my face like a potato.
Talk me through this? Tell me to wait a while? Or just do it?
