Hi all,
I’ve never really used VR much as a whole, but the few times I have, I have loved it. Recently I’ve been considering purchasing the meta quest 3, since it seems that’s the one most people recommend at that price point.
However, I have also heard that a lot of people are disappointed with meta’s support with it as of late, as well as with the relatively recent price bump.
I’d consider the quest 3s, although having the clearest vision seems like it should be a priority in my opinion.
I still think that it would have many use cases for me, especially with gaming (I own a decent PC so PCVR is an option). I know there has probably been a billion posts similar to this since it seems like it would be a common question, but I’d love to hear some opinions from actual quest owners!
Edit: Thanks for all of the opinions. To be specific, my PC is an RTX 5080 and 7800X3D build. Also to clarify, I am interested in watching movies, fitness, desktops, etc as well- gaming is just one of my main focuses.

I bought a laptop with Windows 11 and decided to dig out my old Samsung Odyssey+ headset to use with the new Oasis driver.
I forgot how fiddly setting up the Steam VR room boundaries could be but I eventually got it to a serviceable position and it worked reasonably well ... for about five minutes.
Then the floor level went crazy so I was stuck in the ground up to my waist. Every attempt to redo the boundaries has resulted in the floor rising ever higher to the point that it is now at least a foot above my head. I searched for this issue but couldn't find a fix ... I tried starting over from scratch but the floor height never showed up correctly at any point during the process. Tried deleting the Steam .json file. Tried lying on the floor with the headset as some posts suggest. Nothing works. I've been at this for about forty minutes and I'm ready to just quit in frustration.
If you had problems getting the floor height set correctly with the Oasis driver and you fixed them ... how did you fix them?

Hello everyone,
I'm planning to build a PC in the near future to play PCVR, and I want to find the right VR headset primarily for PCVR gaming (co-op with my sister, so we will need two setups).
I'm not very interested in playing standalone games, so I'm hoping to find something lightweight and cost-effective that doesn't feel too front-heavy and doesn't require a lot of extra aftermarket accessories to be comfortable.
Here are my details matching the post guidelines:
What VR system(s) would you like to use?
I'm currently considering a Meta Quest 2/3S for budget reasons, but I am open to dedicated PCVR headsets (or alternative tethered options like PSVR2 with PC adapter) that offer better PCVR quality and lighter weight for the price, without needing excessive extra accessories.
If the system has multiple settings for refresh-rate/FoV please mention which you would like to run:
I would love to target 120 Hz if my future setup allows it.
What games/apps would you like to run?
Blade & Sorcery, heavily modded VR Minecraft, Half-Life: Alyx, as well as multiplayer cooking and rhythm/dancing games.
What are your computer's specifications?
I have not built the PC yet, but my planned build specs are:
- Desktop PC
- CPU: Modern budget/mid-range (e.g., Ryzen 5 5600 / 7600 or equivalent)
- GPU: Looking for the best GPU option that fits within the target PC budget
- RAM: 16 GB DDR4 (or DDR5 if budget allows)
- Storage: 256GB - 500GB NVMe SSD minimum
If you have yet to build a PC or want to upgrade your existing one, what is your budget?
The primary target budget for each PC tower is $800 to $1,000 USD (building two identical setups for my sister and me). However, if pushing the budget up to $1,200–$1,500 USD per PC makes a massive difference for high-quality 120Hz PCVR, I am open to stretching it to that range, though I'd prefer staying closer to $800–$1,000 if possible.
Looking forward to your recommendations on both the headset and PC specs!

Hi all! Fancy graphic just to let you all know that we recently updated the How to God demo on Steam!
The graphics are touched up (shadows!), we upgraded the art style, changed the villager and enemy mob models, re-made the building designs and more! Give it a try and let us know what you think.

I am with Prolo Ring.
My previous demo focused on using the ring as a VR headset navigation tool.
In this demo, the ring is used in a workflow that it was actually designed around.
It starts as a standard Bluetooth mouse/keyboard controller for my Windows laptop. I put on Quest 3 and continue controlling that same PC through Virtual Desktop.
Then Tap + Hold switches the ring's active Bluetooth connection to Quest 3 itself, so I can move from the Windows desktop to native Quest browser/window controls without picking up another device.
The ring does not replaces VR controller. The question is whether a small wearable input makes sense when your workflow crosses between physical computers and XR.
For people using VR as a workspace, where would you want the control to stay?

I've been working for the last day or two on getting the Halo 3 VR mod up and running. I've run into this issue that I can't get around. I thought I'd post the error here and see if I could get some knowledgeable folks to chime in and offer any direction

Title. I'm a bit of a germaphobe. Saw a store near my place doing a clearance sale today and found a BNIB set of Vive 1.0 base stations. Wanna know what a BNIB Vive 1.0 base station is worth these days. I've seen similar posts on the sub but they're all about buying used ones. Or would I be better off stretching my budget a bit and grabbing something more modern??

Let me explain the issue as it's a very odd precise one, yesterday i wanted to play vr after not doing so for a while, I launched everything as usual (alvr) and tried to launch a game but of course i didn't see the game menu, i saw a big black flat screen in front of me (in the headset obviously) the screen was moving around a bit but the framerate was atrocious, no game no sound and I couldn't move my controllers at all, after opening the menu on the quest headset i use, everything worked here but as soon as i went back to the alvr window where the steamvr game was trying to run it went back to all the issues i just talked about. Naturally i tried other games but all of them were the same, i then tried to reinstall alvr and steam vr completely but of course that somehow made it worse as now instead of everything going to shit when launching a game it happens as soon as steam vr tries to load... I tried everything that could fix my issues but nothing worked I don't know what to do, all i did was a cpu swap and now it seems like I just can't play vr anymore, if anyone could help i would greatly appreciate it. (everything else works fine on my pc)

Our game Puzzles of the World is launching August 6th, and today we hit a personal milestone we’ve been waiting months for, the official soundtrack is live!
When designing POTW, we knew sound design would make all the difference in pulling you directly into the cozy, immersive experience we wanted to build. We had the incredible privilege of collaborating with composer Markus Zierhofer to create a custom-made soundtrack for the game.
Every single level features tailored track variations depending on the time of day and my personal favorites right now are Soothing Lanterns of Higashiyama (Night) and Enamored Streets of Camoens (Night)
Feel free to give it a listen and share thoughts: https://open.spotify.com/track/6nAJJsdftUtPxiceaFIaVt?si=ULa46G_4T9CP2xP4b7Zb6A&utm_source=copy-link

Dear VR enthusiats,
Here is a contribution to VR space. I found uevr profiles website a bit to light to search easily games and noticed some of you had the same feeling from this sub reddit. So I made a richer display of the same content that gives search super powers (from how I search my next games)
This is a draft AI driven development. I can easily iterate to improve from constructive feedbacks.

Since adb hacks like 67 adb can be used to move your hands in a game and make you fly could someone make one that translates hand tracking into controller movement like virtual desktop does but on quest?

Hi all, we just released HoverLap on Meta Quest Store.
Its an anti-gravity arcade racer where you steer by leaning your body, brake by pulling the controller back, and boost by pushing it forward.
Its a solo time-trial racing game. Each track has Bronze, Silver, and Gold time targets. You unlock the next track by reaching Bronze, and there are global leaderboards for every track.
We're a small studio and this is our first title. Happy to answer any questions about the game, and any feedback is welcome.

This is my second solo developed VR game on steam, One Day To Live. I hope you will add it to your Wishlist and give the demo a try. The demo is a quick single player extraction level where you make your way from the ground floor to the roof of a skyscraper.
The full game will be releasing very soon, as always I open to any feedback and suggestions!

It's likely everyone saw the release of Halo 3 Vr compatibility yesterday. Just thought I'd update you all on the release of ODST compatibility.
r/virtualreality • u/silentvortigaunt • 11h ago
The scope of the mod is to port each Halo game to VR one at a time, with the current focus being to get Halo 2 working in VR with its original graphics. Once the game is in a good enough state the focus will move on to the next Halo title, and then the next one until every game has been ported to VR.
Halo CE VR is a mod that benefited a lot from community contributions and that was only after it had been released, imagine how good the mod can be if everyone can help out from the beginning
Here's a link to the repo with a list of missing features that are left to be finished: https://github.com/LivingFray/ForerunnerVR

Sharing the word about a new way to play games that doesn't have VR mods or another great option to play them thats really cool and immersive.
Berserker made Osiris Viewer and more than 30 6dof games profiles for it. For now we need to find a 3D tech to work with each game, like Geo 11, Geo3D, Wiz3D, Superdeath3d. I highly recommend start playing with the geo 11, but each game will work better or worse with some type of 3D. Even without 3D, the 6dof profile in itself is already very immersive.
The setup for geo11 games, like Yakuza and Nier series, Batman Arkham Knight, is: Osiris Viewer + 6dof profiles from Berserker (both available on his github) + geo 11 3D fixes from Master Otaku (Helix Blog site) + the game.
The install is mostly drag and drop files alongside the game .exe, but the sites provide readme for simple details. Looks too much to do, but once you do the first, the other geo 11 3D games, or other type of 3D, are mostly the same setup.
We are lucky that we have those geo 11 3D fixes handcrafted from Master Otaku, because they work really great in 3D or 6dof + 3D. We can play on VR headsets or devices with cameras to track or head movements.
6dof. Six degrees of freedom. mean we can look around and lean inside and out of the game, like a VR native game.
Since we have hud and texts, I recommend playing in a really giant screen on Osiris Viewer, so we dont miss game information. We can find mods or in game options to change ui settings so we can play in full vr, not a giant screen. In Yakuza 0, for example, we have a full vr experience with all view covered around us because of the in game option to change ui amd put it in the center of the screen.
Here we can find the Osiris Viewer and the 6dof profiles for these and other games. https://github.com/BerZerker96 And on Helix Blog site we can find those geo 11 3D fixes for some of the 6dof profiles games https://helixmod.blogspot.com/2013/10/game-list-automatically-updated.html?m=1
Some of my games suggestions are Ni no kuni, Nier 1 and 2, Yakuza series (0, Kiwami 1 and 2, 6 and 7), Arkham Knight, Trails in the sky remake, with geo 11 3D, Tomb Raider trilogy (1 with Wiz3D and 2 and 3 with its own un game 3D option). Persona 5 and Metaphor have 6dof profiles too, and hopefully we ll find a good 3D tech for them.
We have 6dof profiles for GTA 4 and 5 and some Assassins creed games, among others blockbusters too!
Thats all folks, have a great time playing in VR-like games in a way that weren't possible before!
