Hey everyone! I wanted to share a project I've been building called DogSushi.

I found myself opening Steam's Discovery Queue over and over and still struggling to find games I'd actually enjoy, so I built something closer to a Letterboxd for your Steam library.

You can:

  • Import your Steam library in one click
  • Rate and review your games
  • Pick a Top 4
  • Get personalized recommendations based on what you've actually enjoyed (not just what's popular)
  • Browse other people's profiles and discover games through the community

It's still early, so I'd love any feedback or feature ideas. If you check it out, let me know what you think!

DOOM: The Dark Ages – Revelations is exactly what I wanted

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkEtuw-7hQA

It hasn’t even been a few days since we learned about the massive layoffs at id Software, and according to initial reports, most of those affected are supposed to be programmers. I give the big brains at Microsoft a year, two at most, before they realize that letting AI do the programming instead of people is, at best, a road to hell. I’m not saying it isn’t a useful tool - for example, for faster searches or explaining something simple - but the old saying still holds true: a good servant, but a bad master. The new Revelations DLC for Doom: The Dark Ages is thus a swan song of sorts for all these id Software employees.

And if this really is the last major project from this legendary company, then they’ve FREAKING nailed it.

Rating: 9/10
Pros: DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM, spear, great gameplay, no dragons, no robots, old-school levels and references
Cons: sluggish AI in large arenas, doors that require a Master Key, a few bugs (especially sound), can’t replay chapters, the final boss

I’m Simon, and I recently rebuilt my old iPhone and iPad arcade game, Avoidance: Particle Run.

It starts with one ship controlled by one finger, then adds a second ship, failing shields and an astronaut running out of oxygen. It’s free, with no adverts or in-app purchases.

If you try it, I’d be interested to know which mode first feels genuinely difficult.

The creators of The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante are giving away their acclaimed narrative RPG for free ahead of the release of their new game.

To celebrate the upcoming launch of The Life and Suffering of Prince Jerian, the developers are letting players experience the first chapter of the universe at no cost. The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante can now be claimed for free on Steam and kept in your library forever.

The new installment shifts the focus from the fate of an ordinary man to that of a future ruler. As Jerian Tempest, heir to the throne of the Great Arknian Empire, you'll be tasked with governing a nation where the old order is colliding with the demands for change. The nobility fights to preserve tradition, the Church is facing a crisis, and the people are demanding equal rights.

Like Sir Brante, Prince Jerian is a story about choices, consequences, and the price of every decision. This time, however, it's not just one life at stake - it's the future of an entire Empire. Will you be able to change the world without losing yourself?

The demo for The Life and Suffering of Prince Jerian is already available on Steam, with the full release set for July 20.

I made it at the end of last year for a contest, but only received an "honorable mention." Then, during the massive winter power outages after russians bombed our energy structure, I somehow managed to make a Ukrainian translation and release the game on Itch, and now I've finally scraped together enough money to release it on Steam. I even managed to add some new content and music, 33 achievements, and fixed some translation errors.

The game's story tells a story about life away from the front during wartime. There's no heroism or victories, and all you need to do is go to the store and buy some bread, listening to the protagonist's reflections on this conflict and how it changes the lives of everyone it touches. In this game, only one character has a name—and that's no coincidence, as they're all "nameless," the ones who won't be mentioned in the news, talked about, or likely even remembered. But each of them has their own life with dreams, fears, and hopes, and despite the bombings, they try to live on.

The story is fully fictional, but, as some might have quessed - are inspired by my life in Ukraine. Though, i think that the things i speak about are universal for any conflict.

This is an adventure game, also known as a "walking simulator." You probably could also quess that from the name) There are some interactive elements, but not many, so it's not for those who enjoy active gameplay. You'll mostly be reading or listening to the main character's monologues, and dialogues with various oddballs, walking, and completing small tasks.

The game also has three hidden endings. If you're interested in unlocking them, I'll give you a hint: when you enter the city, go left, look for a note, and... start counting. If your count is correct, the condition can be fulfilled on a second playthrough.

The game is completely free: it's too short to put a price tag on it, and I generally don't like doing that. Plus, this is likely my last game, and I don't have much life left in me, so there's no point in thinking about the future. However, for those who really want to support me, there are support packs. Since I hate microtransactions, they don't contain any in-game content, only bonuses like the soundtrack.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/4860480/Breadwalk/

If the game is in English and you want to switch to Ukrainian (or vice versa), right-click on it in the library, select "Properties," and the first menu will offer an option to switch languages.

That's all for now, thank you for your attention. I welcome any feedback—both general impressions and detailed analyses—if anyone is interested in sharing their opinions. You can leave them here, but it's better to leave them in Steam reviews so everyone who considers to play the game can read them too (and if you get at least 10 reviews, it will help people on Steam immediately see the overall rating percentage).

Also, if you know where else game can be shared (i am not allowed to post on most big game-related subs due to various weird rules) , I'll be glad if you do, since I don't have money for advertising, and the game is not commercial, so simply talking about it is the only way to let people know that it even exists.

Keep up the good work!

So, self-promotion on reddit is hard but my advise would be to try to focus on smaller communities but more focused on your niche: users will be more interested in your game and also rules for self-promotion are less strict (I found out a sub dedicated to walking simulators for example, it's very small though). You could also try to find more "side" communities: as your game is free it could be easier to convince a non-gamer that is interested in themes covered in your game to play it. Furthermore, you could look for content creators that cover games similar to your own and send them your game. Good luck!

I was a kid too in 1996, and around here we all only got around by bike and spent our savings on accessories like handlebar horns (which I still think are super cool). The only exception was that summer when roller blades were all the rage, so we all started riding them.

1

u/PowerOfGoldenSlammer 2d ago

It was a great year, X-Games premiered around then and we still had things like "inline skating" (extreme rollerblading), BMX, downhill luge and of course skateboarding where Tony Hawk and half pipes were still the biggest star. Anyway rollerblades are in the list!

After months of building, we've finally put our game MarginCall on Steam, for release on Aug 19th.

It's been one hell of an experience, we definitely bit off more than we could chew. At first, I thought it'd be a simple game, but after countless sleepless nights and bug-fixing marathons, it's finally complete.

The idea is that you manage a hedge fund in a fully simulated economy using the World3 model. So everything is built from the ground up to simulate people -> cities -> countries -> global economics. I've got a long history in finance and have never found a trading game that had enough depth to be a true challenge. I'm terrible at marketing material, so please pardon the trailer quality but we've done our best.

I'm super nervous, it's been a true passion project, but I hope it's well-received.
