Harvested Results First harvest

Left for work and had picture 1 (I harvested the largest one) came home 12 hours later to picture 2. Harvested all of them and they’re now in the oven dehydrating.

They dropped a ton of spores, will they be okay to attempt a second flush?

And thank you to this awesome community. My first ever grow and I’ve learned so much over these past few months. Have 4 more bins fruiting and should yield over 100g dry from first flush. Had my first trip with 3.5g OJ Tek and I was a freaking cosmonaut!

Harvested Results 1st Harvest pt 2!

Before I went out of town there were only pins, when I got back it was time to harvest! I wish I had taken a picture of the box before harvest, these are hillbillies! My other box I harvested right before I left (golden teachers) but they seem to need a few more hours in the dehydrator so I’m leaving these in front of the fan. Will they be fine like this for the 12 hours or so it’ll take to finish my other mushrooms?

Harvested Results Not B+?

I used an old colonized bag to propagate, which I thought was a B+ but maybe it got contaminated?

Anyone can identify what this is? Thanks in advance!

Question Have anything changed since 5 years ago?

I have been active here especially and other subs 5 years ago when I grew mushrooms!

I usually learnt from this sub and PhillyGoldenTeacher.

I would like to start to grow again.

Would like to ask, did anything changed on formulas, recipes , procedures to make it easer and more effective since then?

Or all the same?

Mid-Cultivation / Still Growing Experiment

Figured I'd mess around and find out, opened an uncle Ben's bag thinking it was contaminated due to it taking 2 months to fully colonize, turns out it was fine.

I pasteurized some coir in boiling water, waited for it to cool down for a few hours then mixed the coir and the uncle Ben's bag in this bowl with the intent to just put cling wrap over it.

Yesterday I figured it may need to breathe so I cut a lil hole and put Microspore tape on it.

The casing layer is uneven so it's patchy and the very bottom is not colonized yet. Other than that it's exceeding my expectations and I was curious what you guys think?

Should I wait for more colonization or just send it?

Question Is this okay? (Update)

Thank you everyone for your comments on my last post! I really appreciate all the feedback and knowledge everyone has been so kind to pass on to me.

To answer some questions and give feedback to everyone's suggestions is the following:

• The strain I am growing are Jedi Mind fucks. It is the only strain I have grown previously so I felt it would be in my best interest to stick to this while I am scaling up as it's what I 'know' the best.

• I have been told by a friend that the best way to introduce FAE was with the fans blasting air through my filters and it had worked with the small monotub previously. However now after seeing your guys suggestions I have changed from 3 fans blasting directing through the filters, to one ocelating fan positioned on the other side of the room for more passive FAE.

• I used millet grain bags and left them to fully colonise before adding them to my CVG. I used a 1:1 ratio for bags of millet and bags of cvg. X2 of each in my bigger tub and x1 of each in the smaller tubs.

• I have also lifted the tubs off the floor to prevent contamination from the carpet which is something I definitely didn't think about before!

I have included a few pictures of my current setup after improvements as well as what my sub is looking like as of today. If anyone has any more advice or thinks they know how to improve my setup/chances of a successful run then I am more than open to hearing suggestions.

Finally, please could you guys take a look at my cake and see if it still looks like I am on the right track or if it's best I start again? I have had some mixed opinions so I'd just like to see what the majority thinks. I am also extremely colour blind so I don't trust my eyes as much as I'd probably trust yours. I know purple/green = bad and white = good. I can see some patches I would say are sort of yellow but I'm not sure if that's just the grain I can see through the mycelium or if it's contamination.

Thank you guys for all your support and feedback. You truly are a great community of people and have made me feel very welcomed and gave me great advice, especially since I never post on any forums ect.

Many thanks and much love!

I just noticed this little pin popped up and it’s my first time. Should I top it with a layer of coco coir now or leave it be?

2 weeks ago inoculated 4 bags with a spore syringe I made from a GT print, 1 got trich and another got wet rot but I think these 2 are doing ok I hope 😅 probably will do break and shake soon.

Question Timing advice

So I added the spores to 10 bags of brown rice on the 7th of June. I did a break and shake at 3 weeks. I since lost 3 bags to contam and now have 3 fully colonized and 4 at that slightly gooey stage with hard lumps. Do I do another break and shake? Just wait for them to catch up? Or can I plant (maybe not the right word) the 3 that are ready and moved to the next stage?

I was hoping to have some grown and dried by September but it's seeming unlikely at this point.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Mid-Cultivation / Still Growing S2B? + Ziplock Tek Experiment

No SAB, just hopes and dreams. 9 day’s into inoculation 2/3 bags survive, I pour the grains that are about 30% colonized into a quart sized ziplock bag and b&s in hopes it would colonize faster, the FAE hole, if I can even call it that took way too much time for the first baggy so I decided to not make an FAE hole, for the second one. 4 days later I come back to both bags fairly colonized with the ziplock with active FAE being almost 100% colonized and the non fae bag 80%. what I think was this means is with ziplocks you can disperse the mycelium easier and the air that made contact with the grain during transfer from UB to ziplock was enough stimulation to make the mycelium grow.

Question Dehydration Time

How long do you guys typically run your dehydrator and at what temp? We have the COSORI Premium 6-Tray Stainless Steel Food Dehydrator and will be drying a monotub flush of OB1

Ive seen comments that the higher temp doesn’t affect potency - so wondering if running the dehydrator at 140°F to 160°F is appropriate for 8-12 hour dry time?

I took this pic yesterday , you can Alr see all the mycelium. The other isn’t too noticeable but underneath it’s white. I just didn’t want to open up my SAB. 6 days progress and it looks great so far. If it continues spreading at a rapid rate should I do a B&S next week?

Question Inoculation temperature

It's my first time growing and I know the ideal temp in the inoculation stage is 72-79 degrees. My AC gets my room at about 73 and in my closet on a shelf it's around 81. I put a fan to circulate the air in to the closet and now its sitting at a nice 77-78. Kind of weird method but if it works it works right? (If Im wrong please tell me, that's why Im asking).

This is my first time growing and while doing a break and shake of the Millets , i saw some red hue and the gresins wouldn't break apart properly .( Maybe because i filled iit up too much )

But is it contamination ??
