Can someone who knows a thing or two tell me if I buy liquid culture and grow bags under the same name am I gonna be on some watchlist? I really want to grow I am just afraid to get some feds knocking on my door some day.

NSS, first flush, 2lb grow bag, got roughly 13g dried. Took about 2 months. Pretty excited!

Was never supposed to take off the lid but accidentally knocked it whilst opening vents for FAE, some water did drop from the lid onto the sub

After my grain was fully cultivated I did a break and shake, but some of my cultivated grain ended up on top of the substrate. Right now the substrate isn't fully cultivated and I haven't opened the bag or exposed it to sunlight, it's in my closet. I see a few things growing on top that I'm guessing are mushrooms fruiting, the one I circled is over an inch in length. I'm worried if I open the bag it will become contaminated because the substrate isn't fully cultivated, only like 85% is. Do I need to open it and mist the sides with water to continue fruiting?

I’m a relatively novice grower here with about a year of growing under my belt. I’ve had successes and failures. I’ve started making my own aio dung based bags using dry aged horse manure, rye grains, coir, vermiculite and hay. Since starting to make my own bags though I cannot for the life of me successfully fruit them. They’ve colonized incredibly well, but I’ve got 3 bags that have been in fruiting conditions for about 6 weeks with no pins. I’m about to open 3 more and I’m just wondering if my technique for fruiting needs to be different for dung based bags rather than cvg. I think I’ve been suffering from overlay due to excess nutrients and the mycelium being too happy colonizing. (Growing ghost, PE, and natal ss) If anyone else has had consistent success fruiting dung based aio bags, please help!

Does a clean, dirty/earthy smelling grain bag indicate no current contamination?

For context I inoculated 4 bags (for the first time ever) and I recently B&S just one of them. After a few days of no growth I decided to give the bag a squeeze and smell the GA area and noticed a fermented-ish smell. I then decided to do the same with the other three bags and they were all noticeably earthy/dirty smelling, no sour.

I’m wondering if the bag doesn’t smell contaminated, does that mean that it is Definitely clean? Or just probably clean? Or is it not a great indicator at all.

For example: if I move a clean dirty/earthy smelling grain bag to a tub and it ends up contaminated, can I be certain that the contam was introduced during/after it was moved to the tub?

I have a few that have opened, but a good majority still haven’t. Should I wait a few more hours / another day to harvest?

This is my first time growing and while doing a break and shake of the Millets , i saw some red hue and the gresins wouldn't break apart properly .( Maybe because i filled iit up too much )

But is it contamination ??

Inoculated on July 18. Hopefully they'll be ready b4 August ends. I've never grown ochras b4, patiently waiting for the experience. Thought i added pictures

Can smell some mold and see some growing in there but the mushrooms r growing. What should I do?

Nothing from this aio bag after nearly three weeks. Temps have been stable but no pins. More fae or humidity?

No SAB, just hopes and dreams. 9 day’s into inoculation 2/3 bags survive, I pour the grains that are about 30% colonized into a quart sized ziplock bag and b&s in hopes it would colonize faster, the FAE hole, if I can even call it that took way too much time for the first baggy so I decided to not make an FAE hole, for the second one. 4 days later I come back to both bags fairly colonized with the ziplock with active FAE being almost 100% colonized and the non fae bag 80%. what I think was this means is with ziplocks you can disperse the mycelium easier and the air that made contact with the grain during transfer from UB to ziplock was enough stimulation to make the mycelium grow.

I have a Boomr bin with the automated humidifier my question is are you guys still misting the soil directly from time to time or let the humidifier do its work?

I have been active here especially and other subs 5 years ago when I grew mushrooms!

I would like to start to grow again.

Would like to ask, did anything changed on formulas, recipes , procedures to make it easer and more effective since then?
