DISCUSSION Could current john beat prime midoriya? Spoiler

John currently has a pretty decent hold on his ability, and seems to be able to control it fairly decently. The main drawbacks are prolonged usage, weakness to artificial abilities, and the need to be near the aura in the first place. Assuming midoriya would have something similar to an aura, would john be able to copy that and use it.

ofc uru copped out killing him, it was so obvious she wouldn’t have John do that blatantly, just like how she copped out arlo killing farrah. the episodes are picking up which is good, js pisses me off we had to wait a week for a pointless conversation between John and Liam. hopefully they kill orrin tho (i doubt it)

FASTPASS John Barrier Spoiler

It’s absurd that mere low-level characters about offense can manage to crack John’s barrier.

They always say agod tier character is a one-man army.

How is it possible for people with attack levels under 10 to manage to crack A LOT a barrier with a defense stat of 15?

They had to join the barriers; otherwise, John's would have broken too.

IT’S ABSOLUTE INSANITY.

FASTPASS I’m gonna say it: I miss him. [FASTPASS 391] Spoiler

I feel like maybe I have to accept the John I loved really is never coming back. I didn’t mind his dialogue being so repetitive during the Joker/King arcs because I know he was so trapped in his mind. While I always liked John during those arcs, it was because this new self took the character traits I’d loved in John as he was first established - sly, strategic, smart people management - and expanded on them in a toxic direction.

The current John stands in such contrast to that John, and not in a flattering way. Just like back then, he swears and incessantly launches excessive attacks. It was in such stark contrast to Seraphina in today’s ep… She had an actual conversation with Candice, she gets to be challenged intellectually with Spectre’s ideals. John? He has no ideals, no strategic approach, he just attacked. “Someone who kills, even his own allies, without batting an eye.” It’s a funny accusation for John to make. Since the end of s2pt1, he’s self-proclaimed to no longer be running on ideals. Everything he’s done since then is just in defense of Sera, in revenge for Jane and William… I feel so disconnected from who this character is.

I thought the story was going to address this vengefully violent John since in the back half of s2, it acknowledged that John had gotten more reckless as a fighter due to his suicidal ideation. I get that there hasn’t been a lot of actual story space passing since the end of s2. But I’m scared, because the story is not engaging with the question of whether John has killed. He’s in a situation where this violent behavior is encouraged, because he and his friends need to do it to survive, but at the same time, how is he ever going to reintegrate into society afterwards if he doesn’t learn self-control? He’s become the exact kind of brash character s1 John would’ve taunted into losing despite his strategy.

I guess I just misinterpreted the character. I’ll keep reading because I love all the rest but honestly, the John he’s become is not part of my top 3 anymore. I would’ve loved to see a conversation where he could throw in Liam’s face that Spectre had stolen the products of the ability his mother was experimented on for from him, or where he could accuse Liam for hurting innocents instead of trying to reach out to him like he and the rest of the Wellston kids did. My favorite thing about unOrdinary was how it prioritizes the idea over the fight.

FASTPASS Orrin’s level

Alright, Orrin is busted. Let’s break down his new feats and try pinpoint his level. Im so glad he’s been so powerful this arc.

First, controlling multiple bureau agents from afar. Not only could he command them to end their lives but he was jumping from body to body puppeteering them. Next, we see as Arlo, Kass, Jax and Amelia break into the warehouse as well as in this newest chapter that he can apply mental pressure across a large space, commanding everyone in it to die, for example. He’s able to take over Seraphina, an 8.0, quite easily (although he states it drains a large chunk of his aura.)
He’s also “propping up the barrier” so his commands can also amplify/enhance his team mates. Lastly, in this latest chapter, raising his whole team that’s been defeated like zombies to keep fighting despite their exhausted and broken bodies with just one command “attack” as John mentions.

I think it’s safe to say Orrin is definitely above 7.0.
I do want to point out that some of these feats aren’t achievable without his high tier battery/healer. Still, that doesn’t detract from his capabilities. Compared to what we saw madam Sylvia achieve, I want to say that Orrin is above 7.4.
My prediction would be between 7.5 and 8.2 maximum (although anything above 7.9 I feel is generous).

Let me know your thoughts!

FASTPASS Aura Manipulation Spoiler

Last post probably.

Anyway , I wanted to talk about John’s plan. If his plan is to get himself captured what’s stopping Orrin from just commanding him to Kill himself realistically instead of trying to work one of the hardest abilities in the series so far that not even the user has it down yet. Secondly I feel like aura manipulation should have some type of resistance like when he goes to take over it doesn’t let him or his body fights it like some type of spidey sense idk I just feel like aura manipulation should be much more than it is after this chapter after Orrin pulled out that necromancy.

And what’s with John huffing and puffing shit is overly annoying especially after he just no diffed? How exactly is he tired especially with energy siphon.

FASTPASS My rebuttal to recent discussions Spoiler

People say that orrin can just possess john and kill himself, but realistically we can see that orrin can feel the pain inflicted on the possessed persons body, so if he kills himself id like to think that he wouldnt be able to handle the pain, sure he would still be alive but he would not be able to handle the pain.

I do see john letting himself get possessed, but if orrin somehow knows how to use aura manipulation, he can then prop up johns amped barrier on top of his own and then after that idk how sera and the bureau would be able to clear it.

But thats very unlikely cause aura manipulation is one of the most COMPLEX abilities, not even john understands it fully.

FASTPASS Theories for the upcoming fastpass chapter? Spoiler

I’ll go first:

Orrins barrier is smashed by John (after he pummels Liam and Sera destroys Candice) and the chapter ends.

FASTPASS What could the plan possibly be? Spoiler

Upvotes

The first thing that came to mind when John states that he has a non-ideal plan is that someone leaves the barrier to get possessed by Orrin in order to lower the defense of the structure. However, nobody with the exception of Sera would be fast enough to even reach Orrin before likely getting hit by the mental power. Orrin’s “die” command would likely take into effect immediately after anyone leaves the mental protection of the barrier, unless Seraphina freezes time.

That being said, I think this may actually be the plan that John has. There wouldn’t be a need to mention the defense drop after Orrin possesses someone if his plan didn’t involve having someone leave the barrier for Orrin to possess. Maybe I’m having a brain fart, but I don’t see any other plan John could have, and this plan would very likely end horribly.

The slight caveat is that Orrin might want to end this battle as fast possible, fearing reinforcements from the authorities, and abandon reinforcing his structure in order to possess Seraphina (if she leaves the barrier) to gain an attacking advantage. Possessing Seraphina is the only smart possession option for Orrin, because if John leaves the barrier, he can issue a “die” command, and leave Arlo to defend against the entire spectre sniper+spectral claw crew, which isn’t survivable at his level and current state. What do you guys think?
