Is the HESA worth it?

Post image
7 Upvotes

I was wanting to do HESA until i looked at those prices... I thought it be a good way to get used to the campus while also helping myself move up in math, but i dont have $3,000 for all that 😭. I was thinking maybe i should just retake the MPA but i genuinely suck at teaching myself when it comes to math..

also i cant tell, which of the millions of fees is it thats due august 8?

A Culture Change Could Be the Reset UCR Baseball Needs

A new era is upon UCR baseball.

After finishing the season 15-37 overall and 10-20 in Big West play, while hitting .236 as a team and posting an 8.43 ERA, it was time for the Highlanders to rebuild from the ground up.

UCR needed more than a quick fix. It needed a reason to believe it could climb out of the hole.

Enter Gregg Wallis, the new head coach of the Highlanders, who's hoping to lead UCR to its first winning season since 2010 by changing the culture of the team.

Just the kind of reset the program desperately needs.

Rant Anyone experiencing any ant infestation at their place?

I’ve been experiencing ant invasion and it keeps getting worse. I’ve used bug spray and ant baits/traps. Thereā€˜s nothing that’s working out. I even called my places landlords and they’ve not been helpful either. I was wondering if everyone else is experiencing the same problem?

Question College corps

I had a college corps interview 2 weeks ago and haven’t heard back. Does this mean I didn’t get the job or do they usually take long to reveal whether you got the job or not. I honestly don’t care as I just applied because I saw the promotional flyer on instagram.

Question Work-study jobs

I’m an incoming freshman at UCR and applied to several work-study jobs on Handshake for the upcoming semester, but I haven’t received any emails or calls back. I have 2 years of work experience, lots of volunteer experience, and awards in my resume, so I’m not sure what the issue is. Are there other places I can look for work-study jobs besides Handshake?

Also, is there anything I should know about having a work-study job compared to a regular on campus job?

Discussion Why are some of the UCR staff members here so creepy?

I swear some of the male staff members here (especially those working maintenance, security, or janitorial work) are so creepy. Ogling the younger female students and harassing them and whatnot. Like recently I saw some bald white man with dark eyes who looked around 40-50+ ogling a very, very young girl as he was loading stuff into one of those white pickup trucks with the UCR logo on them.

Who can we report to about this? I’ve tried contacting the police in past instances but the police won’t do anything until something terrible actually happens. And even then they’re not helpful.

Important first year schedule

Post image
21 Upvotes

(CS MAJOR) this is my tentative schedule rn as an incoming first year, is it too much in terms of classes? is it a bad move to have my labs/discussions/classes 10 min after each other on tuesday, or will i be fine? also, im taking math 009C, not 009A so i think i will be fine for physics. my credits make me a sophomore so i am just trying to make sure i am still on that pacing. the learning blocks really left me with barely any classes that would fit my schedule, so this is the best i could come up with.

Question Course plans for transfers?

Hey guys,
I’m an incoming transfer student for Data Science in Fall 2026. I was wondering if there were any other transfer students who did DS and was able to graduate in 2 years? If so, what did your degree / audit plan look like quarter by quarter? I’m currently really confused on what to take for my first quarter. Thanks!

Housing Off Campus Housing UCR for Fall Quarter 2026 Only

I am currently looking for an off-campus apartment/shared housing space for the fall quarter 2026 on a month-to-month rent payment basis since I will be graduating after the fall quarter. Is there anyone who has a prospect on this renting availability/preference or know of anybody who could help with referrals? I am open to sub-leasing as well if possible. My ideal preference would be between $700-1200 a month, single-room, shared living (roommates), and close to campus (walking distance optimal). If you are able to help, suggest, provide referrals, please reach out to me! Or, if you are looking for another person to join your current housing situation that fits my preferences, please reach out to me asap. Thank you !

Hello Im looking for someone to take over my lease at North District. It’s on campus so you don’t get fomo and makes getting to class
easy. It’s new housing and they have lots of amenities.

It’s $1450 a month, shared 2br 2bth. You get your own closet, desk, and bedspace and it comes
furnished. They reply fast with minimal paperwork if youre looking for quick last minute housing.

Shoot me a message if you’re interested.
