Chat I recommend everyone to take a look at abbey yung youtube videos!!!

I feel like a lot of us only focus on subjects like minoxidil and finasteride when it comes to improving hair growth and stuff.

The scalp is also very important because that's basically the soil for planting. I found out a lot of useful info about this topic from her channel. I mean, every other dermatologist and trichologist can probably do the same, but her videos explain it better.

Growing hair with minoxidil and finasteride is one thing, but maintaining the new hair is another. On top of that, there are things and products you can use to improve your scalp health to the maximum, which also helps minoxidil work its best.

I also like that she recommends products based on facts and pricing rather than wanting you to waste money on expensive brands.

And now, it's not just for women. These products are for everyone, depending on their scalp type and the kind of hair they have.

Treatment Is estrogen a method for hair growth?

I'm not trans but I've seen images of transwomen and their amazing transformation when it came to hair regrowth, would it be good along with oral fin/min?

Chat Balding men, would you have children?

Upvotes

Do not take this the wrong way or get angry , if u can change my opinion please try but Is it wrong for me to say that its selfish for balding people to have children?

I feel like i wouldnt want my children to suffer the way i do and unless theres a 100% guaranteed prevention/ cure for this disease, i wouldnt have children because i wouldnt be able to forgive myself if my son was hurt because of it.I know how much it hurts me to be alive everyday and its not worth it to pass that onto an innocent kid who doeent deserve it.

The whole idea of having children feels a bit selfish in this world because they will likely suffer a lot in not only dating etc but just in life in general , its not something thats worth it in my opinion.

Chat why are young people balding more nowadays

So I work with young people (16-19yo) as a driving instructor and what I noticed is early signs of diffuse thinning in a lot of young guys and also retrograde alopecia. Do you think modern diet is the main cause of this ?
Also its interesting how average testosterone is much lower than before so there should be less dht therefore less balding but opposite is true.
This further supports the idea that balding is some kind of auto-immune disease and yeah, reducing DHT with drugs helps but if the androgens receptor in our follicles were not as sensitive due to some kind of abnormality in our body, there would be no need of suppressing the DHT.

Product Creatine HCl vs Monohydrate ? Has anyone noticed a difference regarding hair loss/shedding?

Hi everyone,

Im a 36 year old male with receding hairline since i was 20 year old ( my hair loss has been slow )

I like to Workout at the gym but has never touch creatine because of the 2009 rugby study regarding DHT levels with creatine monohydrate.

I have now heard a new study from 2025 that says creatine dont cause hair loss.

I am thinking about starting taking creatine, but im leaning towards creatine HCl instead of Monohydrate to avoid bloating and stomach issues.

Has anyone here has specific experiences with Creatine HCl? Did you notice any increased shedding when using it, or did you perhaps switch from Mono to HCl and notice a difference in your hair?

I know the general scientific evidence is that creatine does not cause hair loss, but since i have a receding hairline that i can still cover/hide I would like to hear you experiences with the HCl version of creatine.

Chat Hairline gotten worse with fin and it’s been 7 weeks only

As the titles says , been on fin 1mg oral and 5% topical min , nizoral shampoo twice a week and derma stamping at 1.5mm but for some reason my hairline has gotten worse and it’s only been 7 weeks.

First 2-3 weeks on the medication and the other stuff , was shedding crazy , hair seemed to be thinner at the front of the hairline and what not , now that’s it’s stopped I’m barley seeing any hairs when I wash my hair and everything but my corners just seem to be getting worse. For example when I started it was kinda of like a v shaped nw3 , now it’s like a u shaped. Could also just be me hallucinating but yh

I was expecting the shedding and what not , that didn’t bother me the slightest. But now I’m looking at my hairline from the day before I started up untill today , it just gotten worse. You could say I’m loosing hope , but the positive thing is that there’s just a few baby hairs coming in but that’s about it I’m afraid.

I know you will say it’s too early to tell , youve only been on it for 7 weeks but I wasn’t expecting such a drastic change in such a very short period. Of course I expected the shedding , of course I expected my hair to seem worse but not in such a fast way.

I’m also 21 , started receding when I was 15 and hairline has obviously gotten more worse over the years. Family history of balding is my mums side are all bald , cousins uncles not one of them has hair. Dads side , every single one of them has hair except my dad he has diffuse thinning all over. I have one sibling age 18 , perfect hairline perfect head of hair aswell.

Any advice you guys would give would be very beneficial , read some cases where people’s hairline just got worse and never seemed to recover. Was rlly hoping I wouldn’t be one of them because I was planning to get a transplant in less than a years time if it worked out but oh well.

Research/Science Just hear me out you guys SERMS

We know androgen bad estrogen good when it comes to hair.

We can’t just be pumping estrogen though. I mean we could but you know the side effects.

Well we have SARMs right? Selective androgen modulators.

Why not selective estrogen modulators that target only the hair follicle? Im sure it’s not as simple as that buuuut if we could just selectively pump estrogen at the hair follicle wouldn’t that cure us?

Finasteride/Dutasteride 12 months exactly on 0.5 dut daily

So i started last year in July, and now it’s worse than when i started, but it really doesn’t make since that dut made it worse .

Before dit i tried fin for a while and still lost ground slowly that’s why I switched, i don’t believe that dut makes hairloss worse, i believe it could be that it increases tst that’s why or it doesn’t get digested well , who knows maybe it will kick in later .

Now I’m running both dut and fin just to see what will happen hopefully it gets better.

Is this regrowth?

Minoxidil Increasing oral min dose from 2.5 to 5mg

I read that minoxidil works best when there is a constant amount of it in the blood. New formulations of oral min targeting just hair loss deliver the equivalent of 17mg of minoxidil over 24 hours (showing substantial regrowth). Does this mean that 2.5mg every 12 hours rather than every 24 hours will be more likely to have an effect? Has anyone tried this jump?

Finasteride/Dutasteride Thinning again after solid results

Hey Everyone,

Im currently 28 years old. I started oral treatment in September of 2024. I have been on 1mg Finasteride and 2.5mg Minoxidil since and have been pretty consistent and have missed a few days just here and there. I had some solid results for the first 6-8 months up until July 2025. Then i started noticing shedding again and all the hair i gained slowly seems to be going back to baseline. Would this be considered treatment failure and if so Should i switch to Dutasteride or keep my current treatment going for a few more months? I appreciate any input on this!

Finasteride/Dutasteride Dutasteride, topical minoxidil, oral minoxidil & finasteride experience

I went on topical minoxidil 5mg on may 2024
On November 2024 I put finasteride also on my stack

I got good regrowth in February, after that it started to sheed again which shows itself as an ongoing Hairloss, cause the dht block of fin was to low ig.

On August 2025 I switched to 0.5mg of dutasteride
I got one hell of shreeding, it was like 10 times the amount of finasteride, but I was optimistic.

After month 6 the heavy shedding phases went away and then until today momth12 i kept to get smaller shedding waves once in a while, from my understanding i should have already got some regrowth

I talked to a doc & he said it’s the first time seeing anyone w shed waves and no regrowth being on dut almost for 12 months

Since 2 days I switched to oral minoxidil 2.5mg instead of topical. He told me we should wait another 6 months

How are your guys experiences w dutasteride

Finasteride/Dutasteride Why is Finasteride so expensive in Europe?

Hey guys, this question is aimed to people from Europe. In Germany I pay A LOT everytime I need to refill my finasteride (70€ for ninety pills + 20€ from doctors consultation in ZAVA) Is there any trick or way to get it cheaper? (of course with safety assured). I know its pretty cheap in the US but here is crazy expensive, I dont understand why. Is there a way to order from another country a recieve them here? (legally ofc) Thank you in advance!

PD: At least in Germany and Spain you need a doctors recipe to be able to buy these pills

Progress Pictures 2 months progress - Topical Dual Spray (5% Minoxidil / 0.1% Finasteride) - 35 years old.

Hi all,

A little bit of a background. My hair loss started back in 2019 and it got worse after 2023. I have been using hair fibers and wearing caps most of the time to hide the bald patches.

About 3 months ago I was looking at getting a hair transplant before coming across this reddit community. After some further research I decided to go ahead with topical treatment.

I can see small progress across all areas and in 10 months’ time my goal is to get rid of using hair fibers and caps and then transition to oral Minoxidil & Finasteride.

My routine:

Topical: DrHair Min / Fin spray (5% / 0.1%) - 2x Daily.

Microneedling: PELCAS Pen (1mm) - I do this 1x weekly for about 6mins on scalp+temples.

Nizoral 2% Ketoconazole Shampoo - 2x weekly.

Supplements: Multivitamin (Biotin/Zinc/Vit A) + 2 capsules of Black Seed Oil (for thymoquinone) - Daily.

Chat Why do Hair Transplant procedures take a rectangle from the donated area?

Just something I've been wondering.

Doesn't the perfect rectangle end up looking worse than if they took a bit out of a larger area that wasn't so obvious?
