What kind of jobs do you guys have? Did you ever change careers because of it?

When you got tinnitus did your overall hearing become worse or was it about the same + the ringing ?

I've had tin for nearly a year now, the high pitched noise makes me unable to sleep as I'm a light sleeper who never sleep with sound therapy before, i slept in complete silence, this medical condition is a perfect storm for someone like me. So I've been taking zopiclone to sleep everynight 1 tablet , and now it stops working : ( OMG i don't know how much longer i can endure this relentless ringing.

I guess I’m looking for recommendations related to high noise environment’s like sporting events. This week I went on vacation and we did a baseball game and an amusement park and the constant noise seems to make my tinnitus worse. Might include basic road noise and airplane noise.

5 years on… no answers (hearing test attached)

Hard to say exactly what caused my tinnitus, fullness and pressure on left side if my face (ears, head, eye) I self syringed too hard to clear out my ear and went to the dr. They observed bruising in my ear and sent me home

With drops.

Ive seen x2 ENTs since with no luck. Ive got headaches and dizziness nowdays too and the same fullness and pressure remains. I actually got sent to the ENT hospital hours away after a pressure test in my eye for glasses revealed concerning levels.

Im reaching out here for hope or advice on next steps??

I’ve been experiencing continuous ringing in my left ear for a few months now, which started after I had a cold. I’ve consulted an ENT specialist who attributed it to stress and prescribed Tinnex and Audiovit Z, but I haven’t noticed much improvement.

I’m looking for advice or experiences from others who have dealt with similar tinnitus issues. What treatments or strategies have worked? Any tips for managing the symptoms would be greatly appreciated!

I had very quiet tinnitus since I can remember (I’m 20 if that matters). Went to my 4th concert ever two weeks ago after which my tinnitus worsened. In a short time I went to an ENT and had otoacoustic emissions and tonal audiometry done.

Doctor said my results are pretty good, prescribed me 3 types of pills which I take every day. He told me to wait a few days to see if it gets better, if it doesn’t I could take steroids. I am quite afraid of steroids, he said they come with lots side effects and from what I read on this sub, for some people it even worsens tinnitus?

Luckily three days after the visit it got significally better, I was so happy my tinnitus went back to the old quiet non annoying volume without steroids. I thought I’d finally be free.

This lasted a few days, since yesterday my right ear has loud tinnitus again.

What do you think guys? Is this normal, or is tinnitus recovery linear?

as you guys know i’ve posted countless times over the past 8 months regarding my tinnitus that i thought was due to hearing loss, but i was wrong.

I went to an ENT that finally decided to look at my eustuchian tubes and he told me there was thick mucus covering the opening. He prescribed me two nasal sprays, Azalestine and Flonase and i’ve been using them together for a few weeks now. It wasn’t until yesterday i felt big globs of mucus slide down my throat on the side of my tinnitus and i drank a ton of water until i felt my left ear open up!

The hidden hearing loss that i thought i had wasn’t hidden hearing loss, there was thick mucus literally sitting in my ear despite my normal tympanogram and audiogram.

My tinnitus also reduced from 60% (a sharp ringing) to 10%(a very low static) and im not even finished with treatment :) but im grateful for what im experiencing so far. ill keep you guys updated with my full results regarding my tinnitus.

So if everything comes back normal and you’re having the symptoms i did, look into ETD. because loud noise exposure can also cause it, and until the problem is fixed the symptoms will be consistent.

i loved concerts but this experience scared me straight so i won’t attend one anytime soon, ive been finding myself through other things so yeah

I got tinnitus in my right ear few days back. I think it was since before because i was observing that when i use earphones, the sound coming from both sides seems imbalanced. Since tinnitus wss not very loud, i dismissed it since many days. But few days back i started noticing it and booked appointment for ENT. I got audiogram and impedence test done. My eardrum is intact and there seems to be no problem except i have loss of high frequency in right ear. Doctor said you need to live with it.

Now i use white noise or rain sounds while sleeping. It drowns the tinnitus sound properly.

But i also loves to listen songs using earphones. I have multiple earbuds. I never go beyond 50% volume though.

I want advice if i can continue use earphones or earbuds or it will further make tinnitus bad or i will further loose hearing capability?

Please advice if someone has any thoughts on it.

PS:-- As per doctor i can listen at 40-50% volume. But i want to ask people who are going through this.

Thing is, I do this swallow thing before bed and the tinnitus still wakes me up in the middle of the night and I'd have to do the swallow thing again. I'd like to sleep through the night.

My left ear's tinnitus is worse until I pinch my nose and swallow. I'd hear this incessant popping sound in there and a little bit on the right side too. With this in mind, can you pinpoint anything that's wrong inside my ears? And what's a fix that works for more than just a few hours? Is there a more effective medication? Thank you.

Ps: an ENT specialist wasn't very helpful. As soon as I mentioned tinnitus he sort of lost interest in what I had to say. Money down the drain. Thanks for the help. I realise we have to treat ourselves here.

Ive always had tinnitus. Very mild and it never bothered me much. I hardly ever noticed it. It only bugged me if I was trying to sleep in the quietest place on earth but even then I could still sleep a full night. But suddenly within the past week, it got louder. I can notice all the time now. It keeps me up at night and even wakes me up! Ive been having panic attacks and haven't been able to work for 2 days now. This sucks! I feel like ive taken my hearing and sanity for granted. Id give anything to bring it back down to what it was before. Im so scared of it getting worse too! What can I even do?

I'm 17. I have had tinnitus from a very long time, maybe 5-6 years. Idk what's the problem. I had a ear blockage by wax back in 2023 and I got it cleared by a doctor, he first gave me some drops which soften my wax and then after 1 week he used a sucker type machine to remove all the wax blockage. I got some relief, idk I don't remember. But now I have it again, I don't notice is usually, I'm used to of that noise or frequency. I don't notice it anymore. But when I try to feel it i can notice the sound and it gets irritating. I don't have any problem in sleeping, but it gets really irritating when I notice it. The main problem is that I'm from India and I want to join the army. I'm worried if this can make me medically unfit for the army. It only can when I get hearing loss. What are the chances that it can affect my hearing? Please tell me. I'm worried about this since last 6 months

I have an appointment coming up at the end of the week as the past day or two I've had this persistent tiny bell chime in my right ear. It sounds like a VERY faint "ting ting...tingtingting ting" with long pauses.. and the pace is completely random. I notice it the most during silence or when I'm not listening to my white noise.

I'm not looking for a diagnosis or anything here, but just simply wondering if anyone's had a similar experience?

This seems to be exclusively a problem with Nolan movies, but in the cinemas they seem to turn up the volume *all the way*

Went to see the Odyssey today and had to walk out about an hour in. Just couldn’t take it anymore, the bass was at max volume about every second minute.

I don’t get how people can sit through this, I’ve destroyed my ears and got tinnitus in a similar time as this movies length but my volume was still waaaay lower.

Hi everyone, I have tinnitus and a mild heating loss. I used to love going to cenima and now I've stopped that completely but I want to go once in a while for movies like the Odyssey nd spiderman brand new day.

Recently came across hugh fidelity earplugs. I want to know y'all experience and advice can I go to the cenima while wearing these hugh fidelity earplugs.

Also please let me know ur experience with them and which ones are the best.

I went to the bar on saturday evening since then I got a ringing in my ears. I have had this before but never more then one night. I always wear earplugs except for this night and I am mortified the ringing doesnt stop anymore. I also just went on summercamp for one week and I am a bit sick so I’m hoping the weakened immune system is the cause.

Online I keep reading that it should dissapear within a few days to weeks but I still hear it so clear when everything is on silent.

I don’t want any medical advice just maybe someone who experienced the same can tell me about their experience since I am a bit scared.

Are 3M still regarded as the best you can get for ear protection?

Trying to get some ear muffs that have maximum protection. And when you look as with everything you’re presented with a vast array of products.

I have no clue what to pick. And want to protect my ears from chainsaws etc.

Any specific models that have worked well for you.

Today I randomly woke up in the middle of the night, welcomed by a huge loudass tinnitus in my left ear. Couldn’t sleep because of it… it was so god damn loud.

Got help by using AirPods with white noise sound, and noticed it got better when sitting. I use to clench my teeth so I have a night guard, but didn’t use it the past few weeks, so I decided to use it now as well.

Luckily, after 2 hours of horror, I was able to sleep in. And now it’s pretty much gone thankfully… I already have very disturbing eye floaters so a tinnitus really really is not needed on top of that (not that anybody needs tinnitus anyways..)

I have tinnitus with no hearing loss atm. I can usually distract myself from it. But I notice it after listening to music on headphones and then after a while my ears get sensitive to music which is when I stop listening. But I like to listening to songs when I go to gym or walk and have to use headphones then. My worry is even though I don’t have hearing loss now I will have it in future if I continue listening to music.

I feel like for the past month my right ear has basically been screaming, it's insanely loud especially when I wake up or go to bed. Even tho I avoid loud noises and don't remember anything happening that could affect this. The only change ig is that I started running occasionally. Also I noticed noise cancelling function in my headphones got worse, but I still listen to music on low volume. Idk. If it actually got worse ig I have to just habituate again, tho it seems impossible because it's SCREAMING. Btw it was caused by loud noise exposure 3 years ago. Does anyone feel sometimes like the noise stops you from thinking? I just get distracted by it and can't focus...
