Bryan B. Westbay was a man who tragically died after enduring severe online bullying. Not long after his death, internet users claimed they discovered that his Facebook profile was still active. Curious people began searching for the account, wondering why it hadn't disappeared.

If someone sent Bryan a friend request, it would be accepted almost instantly, no matter what time of day it was. Moments later, the account would allegedly send strange messages filled with glitched text, corrupted symbols, and unsettling phrases like, "We are friends now."

People claimed the profile picture suddenly changed into a horrifying distorted red face with empty eyes, while others reported receiving corrupted images, static-filled audio files, or experiencing unexplained glitches on their phones. As screenshots spread across forums and social media, more people claimed they had experienced the same thing, causing the legend to grow even bigger.

Before long, horror YouTubers, creepypasta websites, and online forums were sharing the story as one of the internet's creepiest digital ghost tales. Some believed Bryan's account was haunted. Others thought it was cursed. Every retelling added another terrifying detail, making it harder to separate the original story from the myths that followed.

Despite how convincing the story may be, there has never been any credible evidence that Bryan B. Westbay or the haunted Facebook account actually existed. Researchers have found no verified records confirming the events, and the story is widely considered to be a creepypasta, a fictional horror story created to spread online like a modern campfire tale.

The Bryan B. Westbay story became one of the internet's most recognizable creepypastas during the mid-2010s. Like many online horror legends, it spread rapidly through YouTube videos, Facebook posts, and paranormal forums, where each retelling added new details. Other people who were there reportedly couldn't remember a dog either. Yet the image appeared to show what looked like the head of a large unknown dog, partially hidden behind the couple. A few even argued it didn't resemble a dog at all, but something like a demon hiding in plain sight.

Joe had allegedly struggled with addiction for years and supposedly him and his wife believed the photo captured that evil presence that had been latched on to Joe for so long. He is now sober and still carries the photo with him as a reminder of the struggles he had to overcome to get his life back. That's at least the internet's romanticized version of the story.

Skeptics of course say it's pareidolia and just are brain's making recognizable shapes out of random patterns we see, but that's what they always say about every paranormal photo. So who knows.

Ghostly lights have been appearing in a valley in Norway for nearly a century. Witnessed by thousands of people.
